Chapter 006

“I’m so sorry baby,” my mother rushed to my side and hugged me. “I’m sorry that he did that to you.” I expected her to question me or try to get a better understanding of the matter. But she believed me completely. “It’s fine, mum.” I replied, trying to stay strong. My heart still churned with sadness whenever I thought of Alexander. “He didn’t deserve me or my love.” “That son of a b***h had the guts to cheat on my daughter. After three years, he decided to cheat with your best friend?” She fired back, wiping her tears. “I expected better from Martha. She was like a daughter to me. How could she?” “She insulted me at the pack house. I didn’t think she would ever betray me like that.” I responded. “How are you feeling? I know it must be hard for you right now,” she held me gently, peering into my eyes with worry. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to protect you. You must not let your wolf hurt because of this. The moon goddess will heal your heart. I pray she gives you another chance at love. Someone to love and cherish you.” I caught Landon’s smile at her words and I knew he was thinking the same thing. The moon goddess may have given me another chance at love already. I knew it was time to tell her about him. “He’s going to be removed as the Alpha of this pack,” I said proudly. “The Beta will replace him and he won’t have any authority anymore.” “What?” She blinked rapidly. “How did you do that?” “After I ran away yesterday, I ended up at the border of the crescent pack. Prince Landon’s guards found me and took me to him. It turned out that he’s been looking for me for years.” “Looking for you?” She didn’t bother to hide her curiosity and shock. “Why?” Landon spoke up this time, his voice bouncing off from across the room. “Daisy is my erathai. She’s the woman my soul has chosen to love.” At that moment, my mum froze in her seat. I could see the way she was struggling to digest the meaning of Landon’s statement. Of course, it wasn’t hard to understand but she needed time to believe it. “Is that why you’re here? Are you here to take away my daughter?” That was all she managed to say as she stared at Landon. “Mum, I promised that I’ll return to his pack with him. You should be happy for me.” I said. “I know this is hard to take in but Prince Landon is a good man. His actions toward Alexander proves he cares about me.” Silence settled in the room as my mother fought back her tears. We’ve never been apart from each other and this was the first time something was threatening to keep us apart. Since my dad abandoned us, we’ve been each other’s best friends. I kept her from falling into depression and she protected me from harm. I knew it was going to be hard for her. It wasn’t exactly going to be easy for me but I had Landon and she had no one. “Are you going to protect her?” She turned to Landon with teary eyes. “My daughter has been through a lot. She’s had no one to protect her but me. You know what her mate did to her and how she ended up with you. If you’re not going to love her the way she deserves to be loved, then leave her alone for me. I don’t care if you’re prince, I’ll do anything for my daughter.” “I’ve spent years looking for her. I’ve always dreamed of finding my erasthai. She broke a curse that has burdened me for years. Why on earth would I choose to hurt her? She’s my world now, the only reason I have to desire to keep living. I promise you that Daisy will be loved beyond words and her days will be filled with nothing but laughter. That is my promise to you.” Landon replied. My wolf stirred with a great need for him immediately. No one had ever expressed their love for me in such ways. I wanted to be wrapped up in his arms, to feel the gravity of his love with actions and not just words. My mother chuckled and turned to me with soft eyes. Tears were flowing freely from her eyes but I could tell they were tears of joy. “You’re going to be the Lycan princess,” she said with joy. “In the end, everything is working out perfectly for you. I’m so happy.” She couldn’t contain her joy as she wrapped her arms around me. “You know I still have to figure out if I love him,” I whispered to her. Although I already knew within my heart that I would grow to love Landon, I still had to figure things out. I had to adapt to his way of life, to change myself to fit into his world. “I’m sure you will,” mum whispered back. “I hope he takes good care of you. Don’t even hesitate to come back to me if he doesn’t.” As we pulled away, I wiped my tears even though I didn’t know I was crying. “I’ll go pack my things.” I announced and gave Landon a wide smile. I could feel his happiness by just looking at him. It was like our wolves were communicating already. Even though he said nothing to me but just a smile, I knew he couldn’t wait to start this journey with me. “I’m proud of what you did for my daughter,” I heard my mother say as I walked into the room. “That Alexander thought he could hurt her and get away with it.” I sighed as I began to pack my things. Indeed, I didn’t think I would ever be betrayed by Alexander but his betrayal led me to a new beginning. But would it turn out to be good? Will Landon love me like he claimed? “I hope he loves me,” I said as I stuffed my clothes into my bag.
