Chapter 2

3364 Words

Chapter 2Rolling over in bed in a vain attempt to find a spot where the sun doesn’t shine in his eyes, Zeke groans. He’s still tired. He stayed up late writing, but he knows he’s not going to get any more sleep, so he crawls out of bed, finding a pair of shorts to pull on so that he’s not walking around naked. He might live alone, but he lives near a park, and he knows the bird watchers and other people with binoculars can see into his apartment when the blinds are open, like he’d stupidly left them last night. He’d been distracted. He gets like that when he’s writing poems, but he’s on a deadline, so he needs new material. His manager is expecting a whole new book’s worth. Zeke goes to his kitchen to set up his coffee machine, thinking about how careful he has to be about his apartment.
