“We’re not too hard to work with,” Jed says warmly.
“Zeke is a little shy, but he’ll warm up to you. He’s a sweetheart,” Jamie assures them.
“Zeke, why don’t you go with them? Get to know them and see if they need anything,” Jamie suggests, and Brenton thinks she’s giving Zeke a less overwhelming number of people to get to know, and Penny is so lovely to everyone, he’s bound to like her.
“Okay, but don’t overdo it,” Zeke warns, talking for the first time. He’s from LA, like them, judging by his accent. He has a nice voice. Brenton likes it. He’s not a kid who thinks attractive people have voices like angels singing anymore. When someone talks, his heart doesn’t stop. But Zeke’s shy, concerned voice does make Brenton feel something.
