Edward had expected August to pick up after the first ring but this was the third time and she still didn't answer.
Sending a message was the next option to explain who he was.
"It's Edward"
She called back after seeing the text,
"Hello" her soft voice rang in his ears,
"Hi beautiful, how are you?" he needed to be sure that she was okay,
"I'm slightly okay" she replied,
"You should be okay" he said,
"I have pressing issues at hand" she uttered,
"I don't think you have any" he replied,
he knew that she hadn't seen the news yet,
"You don't understand" she said,
"Check the internet" he answered,
"Huh"
"Do as I say, then get dressed" he said.
August was devoid of what was going on, but nonetheless she checked her phone and there was nothing of her again.
"Did you do this" she asked,
"I don't know" he teased,
"If you are the one then thank you" she calmly said with all sincerity,
"Not accepted" he replied,
"Why not" she asked,
"I would only accept if you go out with me" he stated,
"Okay, when" she asked prepared to accept the offer,
"Now.
Look through your window" he said.
She checked and found him leaning on his black Range Rover dressed in a white shirt and black trousers.
It wasn't hard to find August after getting her details, he did that in a matter of seconds by tracking her.
She swiftly wore a pink short gown and some comfortable heels and stepped out.
He smiled when he saw her approaching him.
"Edward" she called,
"Nice to meet you August" he kissed the palm of her hand.
Every day he kept getting mesmerized by her beauty,
He watched her closely as she smiled looking around the Italian restaurant they were in.
"Do you like the place" he pulled her attention to him,
"Why did you help me" she abruptly asked,
"Because I like you" he said immediately,
"Aren't you going to ask what I was doing at the hotel" she thought that by meeting her, he wanted to know more information about the incident,
"No"
"What do you want from me" she asked,
"For you to be mine" he replied.
Her heart skipped, this was the first time someone had openly confessed to her.
"I really like you but we can talk about that some other time.
I am here to get to know you more" he said,
"I am open to any questions" she leaned on her hands looking at him,
"Where are you from" he asked,
"Rome"
'Exactly where his brother left to' he thought,
"And your parents?" he asked,
"My adopted family is still in Rome" she smiled talking about them,
"What happened to your real parents" he was curious,
"Dead" her face suddenly turned sour,
"Sorry to hear that, we all lose someone we love dearly at some point in our life" he stated from experience,
"That's true but I am grateful for the family that I now have" she replied,
"Am not" He whispered,
"What did you say" his last words were barely heard,
"What would like to have" he changed the topic,
"Anything is fine" she said,
"Give her your best" he ordered the waiter,
"Yes sir" the waiter bowed.
"So how about you" she inquired,
"I own the Elite Ventures" he sucked his lips,
"Wait, the only international company we have here" she was shocked,
"Yes" he nodded,
"Wow, that's big" she gestured, "How about your family"
"Okay" he coldly answered,
"Alright" she felt like he didn't want to talk about them.
"Just so you know, I didn't do anything at the hotel" she tried to clear any wierd thoughts from his mind,
"I know, you don't need to explain to me" he replied.
She was touched by his warm temperament as she smiled at him.
The news got to James at a wrong hour and he decided to check up on August.
At first he thought that she would come to him to ask for help, but given her nature he knew that she would rather be on her own.
He got to her apartment and realised that no one was around, he snuck into the house and waited for her.
While waiting he found pictures of Anabel and Dylan which reminded him of Rome.
He missed them and saw them as his second family.
The screeching sound of a car pulling up caught by his attention, he stood by the window to see who it was, when he saw Edward open the car for August.
He was furious and his veins popped out.
"I enjoyed your company" Edward smiled at her, he felt down that she had to leave him,
"So did I" she smiled,
"Perhaps we can meet again next time" he inquired, not wanting to miss a chance to be with her,
"I see no reason why" she smiled at him,
"Till next time" he said,
"Thank you for everything" she said.
He had helped her greatly by subsiding the news, this was something Dax and River couldn't do.
"Go in" He watched her head to the house and waved goodbye.
James watched the both of them and was in a fit of rage, Edward's smile to her was killing him inside.
Edward became a threat to him not only concerning his family but also to the lady he loved.
He felt like he was slowly taking August away from him and he wasn't happy about it.
