She passed by Albert the next morning at school. He was leaning against a wall in one of the hallways that led to her music class, a broad smile on his face as he listened intently to what the white-haired girl stuck at his side had to say
His smile almost fell when he saw her. Alex couldn't tell if he was trying to pretend he didn't see her or act like he wasn't affected by her presence. Either way, she didn't care
Alex made her way to her seat just as the lesson started. She didn't participate much in today's class ( thank goodness). The teacher always made the students take turns in playing their instruments each day. After embarrassing herself in the last two classes, Alex was glad she wouldn't have to participate again until the next week.
" Hey, teacher? Am not very good at playing the flute, can I play the violin instead?" A dark-haired girl complained. She was glaring down at the flute in her hand with disapproval. Alex suspected it was more because the instrument was making her lipstick stain than her inability to play it
" Oh," the young female teacher looked up from her notes at the noble lady. " Since you can't play the flute, you can exchange with Rachel "
" What?" The girl named Rachel, who now that Alex noticed was the same girl she had seen with Albert earlier. Alex wondered how she hadn't noticed that the girl attended the same class as her
" But I can't play the flute either," she said in a soft voice, earning her a harsh glare from the girl who had requested the exchange
" What did you say? Do you think you have a right to choose the instruments you get to play? It's not like you have such luxuries on the dirty farm you came from"
Many of the other girls in the class giggled in mocking amusement. Alex was even more surprised when the teacher didn't scold the girl for her rude and hurtful comment, instead, she turned to the embarrassed Rachel
" go on, just give the violin to Sasha. You can play it next time"
Rachel nodded and wordlessly handed the violin over, taking the flute in her shaking hands
Alex couldn't stand such injustice! She knew it was probably unwise to defend the girl who according to everyone's belief had stolen the love of her life from her. But seeing this scene, reminded her of the mean girls that used to pick on her in a military camp. It wasn't right for a person to be treated so rudely because of his or her statues
" Hey, you!" All heads turned to her as she stood up from her seat. " Can you even play the violin? Because it seems to me that your mouth is more agile than the rest of your body"
Almost everyone in the class gasped in surprise. The girl she had insulted seemed the most taken aback. Her mouth opened and closed like she wanted to say something but couldn't form words
" Alexandra.." The teacher started to say but Alex sent her a look
" And you, are you even a teacher? Is this how you intend to educate the future generation?"
The woman's eyes widened and she didn't dare say anything again. The violin was returned to Rachel and the class went on
Years seemed to have passed before the bells finally rang, bringing an end to music class. Alex smoothened down the wrinkles on her dress, her back was a bit sore from sitting in the same place for such a prolonged period. As she wanted to make her way out of the classroom, she ran into Rachel at the door
" Uh...I " the girl bit down on her lips nervously not seeming to know what to say. Alex decided to just help the girl out of the dilemma
" You don't need to thank me, I still don't like you in any way. I just hate it when people are unjust" She said walking past the girl. Alex felt proud of her acting skills, maybe she could have made a career out of that if she had the passion
" Thank you, I still appreciate it" she heard Rachel say, and it felt nice helping the girl out. Rachel was an Angel, it was Albert who was the devil here
How did he manage to even end up with such a nice girl in the first place?

" Hey, Alexandra " Juliana called out to her as Alex made her way towards her carriage. She found Ryan wasn't waiting for her like usual
" Hi Juliana, have you seen Ryan by any chance?"
" He just left. I told him you were going to be over at my house today"
" And he agreed?" Alex asked in surprise. She never thought Ryan would willingly let her go over to someone else's house, he barely let her out of his sight at their manor
" Of course " Juliana beamed, she made a heart shape with her fingers " our families are like this"
Alex chuckled " alright, I believe you"
" I.." Juliana froze mid-sentence as she stared at something behind her friend's back. Alex looked behind her in confusion only to see Xander walking in their direction
" Hey" he waved at her in greeting with a small smile on his face
" Uh. Hey," Alex waved back with a hint of confusion. She had only officially met the boy yesterday so she didn't know if it counted as them being friends
" I crafted something different last night, do you want it?" He asked presenting her with a dagger much similar to the one he had given her yesterday, but this one had a little more design to it. It was breathtaking
" Wow" she accepted the blade, fascination filled her eyes " It's beautiful"
" Only you would think that" he chuckled slightly, they both didn't seem to notice Juliana gaping in surprise behind her
" Are you testing me or something? " Alex asked
Xander shook his head " just making sure. Goodbye"
He walked away from them just as quickly as he had appeared
" Since when did you know Xander Bloom?! " Juliana gasped when Xander was out of sight
" Not long. He's cool"
" Cool? He doesn't even interact with anyone, a complete loner. All he ever cares about are weapons and war histories"
" Maybe we have something in common" Alex hummed
Juliana pointed at the blade in her hand. " what the heck do you plan to do with that?"
" Am making a collection"
" With knives"
" Yeah"
" Your insane "
Alex laughed as they both got in the carriage, ridding off towards Juliana's manor
