I am Dragon's bride

2750 Words
Kate's POV I don’t know how long I sat there to get my breathing to normal but felt a lot uncomfortable when I got up realizing I was naked with only my towel wrapping me. I was shivering and got my feet a lot dirty walking bare feet. “Oh God, show me a way…” I whispered and walked for a few minutes to find a very large town settled at the bottom. The tents were huge and I could see many people outside with fires illuminating the tribe at different places. The scene wasn’t entirely new. I had seen this place when I visited with Tiara. But we were not standing at the top at that time. I found a huge clearing without any tents where I see animals burning on the fire. I could tell they were preparing for the feast. I stared at the tents and there were many. I wonder which one had Shia and her grandmother. It was going to be a long walk but I had already come so far. Even if I will die reaching there I knew I was going to do this. I was still a lot far when I noticed a large group of people coming to the town. Many had some torches and a lot of those people were coming riding animals. I couldn’t tell what those animals were from this far. But they were great in height. I recalled the conversation of Dorgan coming with at least three thousand nobles. It must be… They were far but I could hear their cries of joy. It also alerted many in the tribe too and I find many started making their way to the crowd while a group of seven to eight men went to the clearing to inform the arrival of the guests. It was a relief that I won’t be finding naked people a lot as many would think about this time. I went behind a tree to hide. I was so close to the tribe now and the arrival of the guests had made many busy. I hardly saw anyone passing my view. I started walking to the tribe and leaned to one of the tent’s clay wall to see if there was someone before I could take a turn. “Where is Aila?” I found a man’s voice talking to someone. “I have sent her to bath Shia. It will bring luck in her life too.” “You know they don’t treat our daughter right.” The man replied. I could feel disappointment in his voice. “Where are you going?” The woman asked, “I am going after her. She doesn’t want any luck.” The man replied and I didn’t hear anything after that. I saw a very tall man that can pass for a giant taking very long strides. I could tell he was the one who was talking a few minutes ago. I followed him to only stop for two seconds to make sure he doesn’t catch me walking beside him. But after passing the sixth tent he took the turn and got into the tribe more. “f**k!” I looked at both sides to find two boys talking outside a tent. They were aged around five maybe. Who would believe kids anyways? I thought and ran to cross the street. I could hear that man shouting, “Aila, Aila…” I followed the voice and found him yelling in front of the fourth tent. The shorter woman came out, “She is not here…she came but got out to see the guests coming.” The man left in the other direction while that short woman looked at both sides before getting in. “f**k, you bitch.” I hissed knowing all too well what they had done to her. Well, if they had already made Aila unconscious it means that Shia had already eloped. I looked at my back to find two boys I left behind. “Hello,” I greeted them and they ran away putting their hand on their mouths. Ignoring them I walked to the back of that tent and the junction where the clay wall meets the tent’s fabric, I tried to look in. “I can’t believe I will marry the dragon.” The taller one exclaimed making the shorter one said, “I don’t think so,” The taller woman was still looking at the shorter one when she used the same stone to knock her out. I made my way into the tent and found that small woman drinking the content out of the bowl. “I am back,” I said making the woman look at me. Of course, my features did match with Shia but I was different in so many ways. I had manicured fingers, highlights in my hair, perfect eyebrows and not to forget the fillers I got to have more defined features. The one very different feature I had from the people of these times was my fingers. These were a lot thinner than the women here. “You look so different.” The woman could tell I was someone else but seem too confused to voice her doubts. “Yes, that’s because I have changed my mind to be the last dragon’s bride.” Her eyes got narrowed. “Shia! Hama must be waiting for you. You love him.” I could see that anxiety on her face. “Does I look like I love Hama?” I gave her my best horrible face to which she cowered before uttering. “You scent so different. I think…I think Gods of dragons has got you possessed.” I tsk at her naivety and got so close to her. Well, that was my shampoo and body wash I guess I used an hour ago but she didn’t expect to be explained. “Yes, you are right. Now, you should get me ready as you are supposed to or I will…” I got my mouth so close to her making her cower even more. I get to Aila’s unconscious body first and with the help of that short lady got her back into my room. I sprinkled some water on her face while that short lady looked at me shocked. Also, she wasn’t short. I only compared her to the taller one because I didn’t know their names. “Are you fine?” I asked making Aila wince. She looked at me in confusion for some time before sitting uptight. “Shia!, please…don’t go…I won’t let you go.” She said and maybe in her worry didn’t take notice of my features much. “I won’t…I am staying. I…will marry that creature. I will never leave my tribe to suffer because of me.” I said making her eyes narrowed. “You seem changed.” She pointed out making me hold her hands. “Sometimes change is better. Don’t you think so…” She seemed a little taken aback. Maybe she wasn’t expecting such a reaction from me.   “I was so excited about this wedding. Will you let me give you a bath?” She asked making me smile. “Sure,” She gave me a bath while I asked that short lady move out with her friend. I could tell that Aila could feel my body different but didn’t say anything. She dabbed my body dry and get all the things clear before coming into the room. I was waiting for her naked. She gave me a cloth made of cotton. We got it wrapped around me. It was covering me from my chest to my knees. It was tight. Aila made sure to get my boobs perfectly aligned. It was a little awkward to let someone else touch you but…she seemed nice. Next, was a gown that was thin and not too heavy, I couldn’t tell what material it was but it was shiny, sparkly and soft. Even in this very dark room, it was shining. The gown covered my whole self. She came with a headcloth that she settled on my head. The veil was attached to that headcloth and was too long and thick that I couldn’t see a thing. She removed my veil and had a painting brush in her hand. She made a pattern on my forehead while I sat there totally trusting whatever she was trying to do. I didn’t have a mirror or a choice. Preparing me for my wedding she had to stop three times to light the torch again. I don’t know but it had some time out and had to be lighted again. We both got still hearing the drums beating outside once again. And, with this, I inhaled a very distinctive scent. It was warm…and felt so different. As if something was burning. One feels this scent when the earth got to bathe in sheer sunlight making the ground hot enough to burn skin. “The king is here.” Aila squealed in excitement while my heart skipped a beat. “I will clear your house. The tribe would love to see you for the last time.” She hurriedly said before leaving me alone. “Last time?” Of course, I couldn’t help asking. “Isn’t it the last time when you are our very own?” She replied while picking the things as she cleans my place. What Only a little after she guided me outside and made me settled on a thing that was a wooden block. Many women came in and all of them were doing nothing but stare at me. Aila removed my veil and many got started, “You are looking so beautiful,” “Yes, Shia…dragon will have lots of kids with you if you kept looking like this…what you have done to her cheeks?” “Don’t forget us.” “Dragon has chosen the most beautiful bride for him.” A very old woman came to hug me and secured a very heavy piece of jewellery around my neck. I wonder what it was for. It was shiny. I couldn’t tell how it looked because of the very dim light. “My friends’ grandmother’s sister was married to a dragon. You are innocent right now…it can hurt but don’t stop him from doing anything. A satisfied king will have better plans.” Oh, I was actually very absorbed into how I was becoming a bride that I totally forget that I was supposed to worry about the deed I was supposed to do. Dragon…I was going to lose my virginity to a mythical creature that is no longer mythical now. I wonder if he looks like an animal just as Tiara worried about. Aila came to secure my veil again. “Nothing will go wrong. Remember, the day he came to choose the bride. I know he will keep you good. Also, don’t think about the ritual much. It will only make you loyal to him and get your heart at ease.” Aila sat beside me afterwards and started telling me things. I don’t know why but I couldn’t help and recall my wedding day with Tom. A wedding where I planned everything. A wedding where nothing could have gone wrong. I looked at the women who were doing nothing but was staring at me. And, this made me recall my bridesmaids who were more into posting my picture on the gram. But I never mind it because I was one of them too. I recalled how I waited for Tom in the church to marry me but he was only coming to get me arrested. I wonder what kind of embarrassment this king would have gone through when Shia ran away. Leaving him so insulted that he left for the war right away. Oh God, My spontaneous nature had always helped me out but I knew one day it was going to cost me. I tried to recall the day I decided to lose my virginity to a stripper in Las Vegas. It was before I met Tom and…that guy was kind of hot too. But the moment I came to know that he was married I lost interest. Come on, Kate…think of it as that time…when you were going to hire that escort to do this. But after meeting Tom doing it with some other guy didn’t feel right. I couldn’t help but recall my first day with Tom or the day when he played the piano for me. And…the day when he took me for paragliding to purpose me. Of course, this king wasn’t going to do all of this…the best I could get was he looks like a human. I bit my lip hard listening to all of the commotions outside. I could hear the people roaming or talking outside of my camp. It wasn’t a dream. I had left my time to be somewhere that is not mine. But it was inevitable for me. I still hold my stone. It was my ticket back to my place. And, if anything went wrong I was going to use it without any thought. Only a little after I saw three men coming into my tent. I looked up while the others had their heads down. Noticing what others were doing I got my head down too. “Shia…” I heard a voice. The voice was a little rude. “…from now on you won’t be the part of our tribe. But I hope you turn out to be one of those who don’t forget their roots after seeing the fruits. Your tribe will always remember you.” What the hell? I nodded my head in yes and Aila motioned me to get up while I saw those three men walking ahead of me. I got out of my tent. Aila was walking beside me all the time but somewhere she held my arm a little tighter and tapped my shoulder. And, the next I find her leaving me. I got static for a few seconds and invited a voice.   “What’s wrong?” The veil ahead of me wasn’t letting me see anything. I walked ahead and passed those three men who had stopped now to give me the way. And, this is when I noticed that warm scent intensifying. That sun-like warmth had me engulfed. I wonder what they did to have this distinctive fragrance in the air. I could feel my anxiety lessening. I was walking looking at my feet. It was the only option to see what I am stepping onto. But one thing was sure. I had the undivided attention of many. That dragon…he must be looking at me too right now. I don’t know if this thought was to blame or I got less attentive to the stoned stair that got ahead. I was tripping forward when I found my both arms held in a stronghold. I looked up at my right and inhaled the scent of the person who was holding me. I gasped the moment I realized a spark running through my whole body. His hands were so hot. As if this person had a fever but then that heat was radiating in me…it made me feel something so different? It was something I couldn’t decipher. I could tell that man was very tall. Despite being a supermodel with a good height I was barely reaching his chest. And, with the chest, I realize I had my head on it. I got my balance and realizing he still hadn’t left me I held his right hand with my left hand. He was wearing some kind of metal on his hands. Of course, I wanted this man to leave me. What my husband to be will think? He let go of me to hold my wrist and I prayed he doesn’t notice my lean fingers and turn my hand into a fist. “King…please... It’s time to start the ritual.” My heart literally dropped. It’s him. I could tell. Of course, only he would dare to catch my wrist in front of everyone.
