IV
"Dean?" Jenny jumps up so quick that she falls off the couch hard and grabs her neck.
"Damn, how'd we fall asleep like that?" Jenny asks with a pained expression.
"Good question," Jake replies, walking up to Jenny to making sure she is okay. I can tell he's trying hard to control his laughter by the amused expression on his face. He helps her to stand, wrapping his arm around her waist for support.
"Why are you guys going here?" I ask, looking directly at Dean. Then I realize what I just said, ugh, my brain is still jumbled from sleep, "I mean, why are you guys here?" I correct.
"We tried calling you, but none of you answered so we got worried," Luke explains.
Rebecca jumps up and grimaces. "A killer headache." She says.
"Come on let's go get you some aspirin." Luke walks out with her to find the nearest medicine cabinet.
"We turned our phones off," I tell Dean who doesn't look too happy.
"Obviously." He grumbles. I give him a confused expression but don’t say anything until Jenny stalks off in the kitchen to get some juice.
"Are you mad or something?"
He sighs and shakes his head. Running his fingers through his hair as he looks at me. "You just had me worried." I frown and get up, walking over to him. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss his nose when he still isn't relaxed I kiss both his cheeks, his hands slide around my waist and I kiss his lips just long enough for him to relax. He sighs again, but this time it's a sigh of relief.
"Don't worry about me, I'm right here.” He has no reason to be worried when he knew where I was.
His gaze goes away from me and back to the living room as he chuckles softly. "Seriously babe, what did you guys do last night?"
----------------------------------------------
Monday morning comes by too fast. Saturday after a search party for my phone we went out to breakfast and enjoyed the day together.
On Sunday my parents wanted to barbecue since they were both off work, so I invited Dean. It was great to see him interact with my parents as if he was family. To them he is. They think we're gonna end up married. Which so do I, so I'm glad they think of him that way.
"So who's house are we going to next?" Jenny asks as we all walk through the halls.
"Not mine again for a while, it took forever to clean and put up all those blankets," Rebecca adds.
"We'll figure it out in a month." Jenny compromises while we walk up to our lockers. The guys are waiting for us there making idle chit-chat until we reach them.
Dean kisses me upon arrival. I instinctively wrap my arms around his neck, reaching him up to kiss him back.
"See you two lovebirds later." Bee teases, patting my back as she and Luke stride away. Jenny does the same moments later. Leaving the two of us. Dean waits until the hallways are near empty before he pushes me against a locker. The bell hasn't gone off, but the lack of students tell me it will be any second now.
"We better get to class," I whisper to Dean who smirks.
"Yeah, we better." His lips come down on mine before I can even reply. My hands reach for his hair making his grip on my waist tighten. I don’t mind one bit.
"Ms. Gardner, Mr. Cooper." Mr. Morgan booms from his classroom doorway.
Dean pulls away from me quickly. "s**t," Dean mumbles underneath his breath.
"Detention for the both of you I'll give you the slips in class." Mr. Morgan said before gesturing us to get inside his classroom.
Dean stays right behind me. I look at Mr. Morgan only to meet his gaze. I feel the need to coward down under his stare, but instead, I keep my head high as I take my seat.
"Now, I will be assigning partners for our history assignment which is due this Friday. I know mythology isn't apart of real history, but that's the topic I've come up with. Write about the Trojan war and how it made an impact on Greek mythology." Mr. Morgan explains to the class. We all nod hoping Dean and I get paired together.
I frown when Dean gets paired with a guy in our class named Blake, and I get paired with a baseball player named Hunter. Looking over at Dean he seems angry and disappointed. You'd be surprised how short a sweet guy like Dean's temper could be. His arms are crossed over his chest, his jaw is clenched, and he looks about ready to growl. I lean over and touch his shoulder asking him silently to calm down. His eyes meet mine, after a while he seems to clam, turning back to the teacher.
I love that I have this effect on him. His anger is something he's been dealing with for a while now, and I love that I can calm him down. It makes me feel important in his life. Aside from the fact that I've known him for over three years.
Once assigned the partners, Mr. Morgan goes over the guidelines and directions to follow during this project. I half pay attention to his instructions. I subconsciously glance at Dean from time to time to make sure he is okay.
"Mr. Cooper, Ms. Gardner." The teacher call after the bell rings. "Come up to my desk before you leave."
We do so, and he hands us two slips without another word or glance. As we walk to the door Dean nudges me.
"At least we'll have detention together."
"Actually you two won't, that wouldn't be detention at all." Mr. Morgan interferes. "Mr. Cooper you'll be with Mrs. Hanes down the hall." He states not even looking up from the papers he's grading.
"What? But that's ridiculous!” Dean yells from next to me. Great, he's losing his cool again, good job Mr. Morgan!
Mr. Morgan finally glances up from his work and turns his gaze onto Dean. Not saying anything at all, just staring back just as hard. I swear it's like he's daring Dean to say something else. Finally, I interject, "Dean it's fine, let's go." I try to maneuver him out the door, and he almost doesn't, but after a long look in my eyes he gives in.
"He pisses me off so much!" Dean says through clenched teeth as we walk to our next class.
"I know, but it's okay we just have to remember not to have makeout sessions in front of his doorway," I say with a smile hoping he'd do the same.
He does, a smile forms on his beautiful face and he grabs my hand." That's so hard though." He whines playfully.
"I know."
