Lexie could feel the man staring at her, with his very piercing eyes. The club lights were playing a trick on her, so she couldn’t exactly tell if it was blue or grey. But damn was his gaze so intense that she could feel it graze over her skin, causing goosebumps to appear all over her.
So intense that she had spent a whole minute lost in them, only looking away when he blinked and broke their locked gazes.
Being locked up and monitored most of the time, made it impossible to be in any relationship. The only time she had tried to be in one, had resulted in her being whipped by her stepfather’s belt.
And boy had it been one of her most painful experiences, which had resulted in her avoiding men in general.
But now, she was faced with this attractive man next to her, and she suddenly wanted to let loose.
What she was feeling, wasn’t something she could quite explain, with words. But it was there.
Even her wolf seemed to want to burst out, but she wasn’t going to let it.
What was happening to her?
There was a strange pull to this man she had just met, and despite herself, she was liking it.
The area they sat, wasn’t very loud, and if you raised your voice a little, you could hear what the other person was saying. Which was perfect, because she wanted to strike up a conversation with this man. She was feeling her most daring, and she wasn’t letting this opportunity go.
Letting loose. Right?
Lexie rattled her order to the beautiful female bartender, and once she got it, took it in her hands and cast a side glance at the man, who hadn’t taken his eyes off her. The fact that he was still staring was a very good sign. One that worked in her favor.
The burgundy wig she was wearing, made her feel bold, and fine as hell.
“You are beautiful.” He suddenly said, leaning towards her with a smile on his face.
If it were someone else saying this to her, Lexie knew she would have been creeped out, and made her way out immediately. But for reasons unknown to her, she felt safe around him. And believed him when he said she was beautiful.
“Thank you.” She said shyly, as her heart thudded in her chest. He seemed to be getting closer by the second, with his eyes falling to her lips every once in a while.
She, on the other hand, had found herself looking at his lips too.
She had only been kissed once in her entire life. And despite it not being a bad kiss, had never wanted to do it again. But looking at this man’s plump lips, she wanted to know how they tasted.
“What is your name?” He asked, gaze smack on her lips and not turning away as he inched even closer.
Lexie swallowed. She didn’t want to lie to this man. Neither did she want to tell him the truth either.
She grabbed her drink and dipped it quickly, drawing in half of the contents before setting it down as she leaned on the counter. “Uhmm…maybe it’s best if we keep things mysterious around here.” She said with a boldness she never knew she had.
It had to be the hair. Or the drink.
Because she knew she was incapable of making such a statement, or even thinking it up.
He chuckled then. “I guess that’s the right answer. Although I would have loved to know the name of the woman I want to kiss so badly.” He said and not only shocked her with his words but also shocked her with what he did next.
Before she could even react to what piercing eyes man had said, she felt his arms wrap around her, and pull her out of the stool and in between his legs, bringing them close to each other.
Lexie immediately felt a torrent of emotions rush through her as she found herself trapped and not willing to free herself.
Was this what Belle felt when she was with the beast? Trapped, but not wanting to leave?
The only difference was, she wasn’t in love with this man!
“Huh?” Was the only thing she could come up with as the man used one of his hands to pull her hair behind her ears, possibly pulling it out of the way for what he wanted to do to her.
“Don’t you want to kiss me too? Tell me you feel the same way I feel, and that I’m not hallucinating when I say that you have been looking at my lips with the same lust in your eyes, as I have for the past minutes.” He said, his tone just loud enough for her to hear. And husky too.
Lexie bit her bottom lip nervously. s**t! She had been caught!
He is cologne was so light and smelled like heaven. And his curly hair which fell in luxurious bouncing around his face, had her itching to remove the cap he was wearing and run her hand through it.
Then she smelled it. At forest he hasn’t noticed it. But it was there. He wasn’t human. He was a werewolf. Just like her.
But then again, she was beyond caring, and willing to take the risk.
“Tell me…” he said, inching closer, just enough for his breath to hit her lip, and for her to smell the faint alcohol in his breath.
Was he drunk?
Fuck..she didn’t even care.
Unable to stop herself, Lexie did what she never thought she would do in her entire life.
She kissed a man first.
She planted her lips on his, immediately drawing in the bottom lip that had been her object of lustful hunger all this while, and was not disappointed.
He tasted so good, and the alcohol only made it better. She inclined her head to the side, taking in more of his lips as she reached for his hair, just like she had wanted.
Only when she had her hands in his hair, nudging his cap away, did she realize something?
He had stilled.
He had stilled and was not kissing her back.
Awash with disappointment and embarrassment, she quickly pulled away, fully intent on running out of the club and down to her apartment from the shame that was quickly creeping up inside her.
But he didn’t let go.
“f**k…” he murmured, just before pulling her back and planting his lips on hers.
This time, she felt her body light up in a cool and hot fire.
Blood rushed to her head as unfiltered arousal hit her with full force.
~
Varden was shaken.
Never had a woman taken charge before. And when she had done that, his first reaction was shock. And that wasn’t just because she had kissed him. It was because he liked it.
His c**k had sprung to life the moment she had covered his lips with her very soft ones, and he hadn’t realized he wasn’t moving until she had pulled away with twin red blotches in her cheeks from what he guessed was ‘embarrassment’.
But hell if he was letting her go.
Which was why he now had her in his arms, and his lips were doing the ‘controlling’.
Fuck.
She tasted better than he imagined. He could taste the drinks she had had just before kissing him and found a hint of berry, which he liked.
No, he wasn’t just kissing her. He was devouring her, and passionately so.
He wanted her.
His wolf wanted her.
He wanted to mark her.
Wanted to have her under him, writhing in pleasure as he plowed into her, filling her up, and feeling her hot tightness wrapped around him.
Varden felt like a fire had lit up inside of him, and the only one who could help him quench it was the woman who currently had her hands in his hair, massaging his scalp.
Never.
Never had he felt such for any woman before.
Just as he let his hands fall to her bottom with the full intention of squeezing it, something rumbled low in his belly, giving him a sharp pain that forced him to pull away from her quickly.
She looked at him with a frown, and lips that were swollen from his kisses.
Just as he thought it was over and wanted to continue from where he stopped, it happened again, and Varden knew he was going to be in for a huge embarrassment if he didn’t get the hell out of there.
“I have to go.” He bit out. Pulling out five notes of hundred dollar bills and placing them on the counter, just as the bartender passed by. “For the two of us.” He said as he stumbled his way out of the club.
Shit!
Shit!
Shame filled him.
Embarrassment filled him.
He had been drinking so much earlier. Of course, it was going to have repercussions.
And now, as he walked, he realized just how drunk he was.
He was practically wobbling on his feet.
But when he had been shoving his tongue down her throat, he hadn’t felt that way at all.
What must she be thinking now, that he was an asshole who had just left her, after what they had just shared?
As soon as he stepped out of the club, the contents of his stomach came out in one go.
Varden bent down and puked his stomach out. All the time, the only thing he could think of was the woman he had walked out on.
Just when he thought he had found someone that matched his energy, he had gone and f****d it up.
“Are you okay?” A familiar voice called from behind as he straightened, and was pulling out his handkerchief to clean his mouth.
Shit.
“Go away, please.” He bit out, not wanting to face her.
He suddenly felt tired.
But she materialized in front of him with her hands on her waist. “Do you have a ride home?” She asked with a voice that was laced with worry.
Varden groaned. He wasn’t going to let her play mother hen to him. Jeez. A couple of minutes ago, they were about to f**k!
He refused to look at her and just whipped out his phone. “I’ll call my driver.” He told her, hoping she would just leave.
“Okay. I will stay here with you till you go then.”
Huh? Okay, now she was annoying him.
Varden finally sent a text to his driver and hoped he was around the area, or at least still awake to get the text, before turning to her.
His phone vibrated, and he saw the message from Lucas, saying he was on his way.
He put the phone in his pocket, groaning as he felt a headache coming up.
“You should go inside.” He told her coldly.
He was f*****g embarrassed.
She just looked at him with narrowed eyes. “Well, we were kissing a moment ago, and you rushed out like your pants were on fire. Of course, I would be worried.” She fired back, crossing her arms over her chest, but Varden was not having it.
“It was just a kiss, woman. Noting attached to it. Besides I’m leaving now, you should go back and enjoy your evening.” Now why he had said that, was far beyond him.
But he was too ashamed to face her and just wanted her to leave since he was two minutes away from falling on his drunken ass.
Varden saw the hurt flash in her face and winced inside of him.
Shit! This was quickly turning into a night from his nightmare.
She nodded, and disappeared into the club without looking back, leaving him standing there.
He stood there, looking at the door she had just walked through, contemplating whether to go in after her or not. Not when the family car parked beside him and he heard someone call for him. He knew he had to leave.
He was going to forget this night had ever happened.
