The fairy, the witch and the wolf

Chapter 4 - Discharge Time

 *Her*

It was halfway through her shift so it was nearly time for Calistas lunch break. She put her patients folders at the nurses station desk ready to write her shift notes. She sighed as she seen the droopy purple Chrysanthemums in their vase atop of the desk. She picked them up and took them to the sink. Being careful that no humans were watching, she sang a little tune as she cast some of her magic to make the flowers more vibrant again. " There you go my little friends" she said.

As she turned around, Mr Braveheart was waiting at the nurses station. Calista took in his broad shoulders as he learnt against the desk. As she got nearer she called out to him. 

"Mr Braveheart, what can I do for you?" 

Calista leaned around him to put the flowers back where they were. Nicholas took a deep breath in and closed his eyes. Calista cleared her throat. Nicholas broke out of his thoughts and looked at her. "I would like to go home now if I'm allowed." 

Calista bit her bottom lip. " Um, sure I'll just have the doctor to come and see you, then we can go through the paperwork and then send you home." 

Calista turned around and entered the office to get away from him. She couldn't work out why that guy gave her a weird feeling. 

*Him* 

Nicholas watched her retreat into the office and turned around to walk back to his room. He started whistling. Replaying in his head the scene of his mate tending to the flowers. He watched her as she sang and her magic swirling in golden tendrils around the flowers bringing them back to life. Her singing voice was hypnotizing to him. He was broken out of his thoughts as he reached his room. He'd been up and had a shower so he smelled nice for his mate. After walking around his room he found his phone on his bedside along his wallet and buts and pieces from his pockets. 

He called Vera to check in with Persephone. He clenched his jaw as on the third ring she answered. "What do you want?"He took a deep breath in as he didn't want to snap at her. "I want to talk to Perry please."

There was noise on the other end of the phone follpwed by an eye roll that he could feel through the phone. "Fine. You've got 5 mins, she has to have a bath before school tomorrow." 

There was some shuffling before Persephone came on the phone. 

"Daddy, are you ok?" Nicholas' voice became soft. "Yes my little bunny. Daddy had a little accident on the way home last night but I'm ok." At that point Nicholas heard some silent cackling on the other end. "I knew the b***h did something to us" Nicholas was trying hard to surpress a growl coming from Alvaro. He decided to play Vera's little game, and instead said to Persephone; 

" When you see daddy next, I'll have a surprise for you, so be good for mummy, and I love you." 

That got the right reaction he was looking for because Vera was soon back on the phone with a sarcastic shreek "What do you have planned now?" Nicholas huffed "Nothing that concerns you Vera." He clenched his fists.

"Yet" said Alvaro with a snicker in Nicholas' mind just as he hung up. Nicholas was by the window, when a knock resounded off the door. He turned around hoping it was his mate, but instead it was a human doctor. "Mr Braveheart, I believe you want to go home." 

Nicholas cursed to himself. "Why did I get sent to a human hospital of all things? Bloody hell." Nicholas sighed and went and sat down on the chair. "Yes doc so can we hurry up please" The doctor squinted through his glasses as he read through Nicholas' patient notes before saying "Right, well, I'll do some last checks and then we shall send you on your way shall we?" 

The doctor brought a pen torch out of his pocket and shone it in Nicholas eyes. "Pupils look good. Now follow my finger.....good you have no more headaches? Do you remember what day it is today?" 

Nicholas followed the doctors finger as it went up and down. "Strange humans..." Alvaro barked out in his head. Nicholas answered with a curt "yesterday was Sunday so today would be Monday." 

"Very good. Do you remember your full name?" The doctor patiently waited for his reply.

Nicholas sighed. He just wanted to be done with it all. " Nicholas Arthur Braveheart." 

After that the doctor did some reflex tests and was happy that Nicholas was well, so then he pushed the nurse call button.

"Mr Braveheart, as soon as you sign the discharge form you can go home." He then turned on his heels and left. Nicholas waited for his mate to come but instead of his little fairy, another nurse came in. Nicholas covered a growl with a cough "Where is my nurse?" The other nurse cowered a little after the growl. 

"She...she's on her lunch break....but here...here's the forms for you to sign then you...you can go home." Nicholas looked at her. "Fine." 

He scribbled at the bottom of the form. "Are we done?" He slammed the pen down and the nurse flinched. "Yes Mr Braveheart, you can go home now."

Nicholas didn't need to be told twice. He needed to get out and blow off some steam until his mate finished work.He walked out the front doors to the hospital and called a taxi. He was still in human territory so he couldn't take off in wolf form.The taxi dropped him off at the nearest forrest. Nicholas watched the taxi drive off. He then went behind a tree and stripped off. 

He put his things in a hollow in the tree. It had been a week since he let his wolf out. He closed his eyes as his bones cracked and changed shape. His wolf Alvaro, being an omega, was just a bit taller and leaner then the average normal wolf. He was White with flecks of black and grey. 

He shook his fur out and took off further into the woods to entertain himself while his mate finished work. He decided he would surprise her and wait at her car. "She's definitely a fairy right? We will get her flowers on our way back." Alvaro howled with approval. "Yes we have to make mate like us."

 "Agreed buddy, agreed."
