Calista was enjoying the sunshine and flowers with Persephone when she heard heavy footsteps behind them.
She turned around to find Nicholas trying to put one foot in front of the other to walk but he was swaying and was about to collapse.
Calista heard Persephone scream
"Daddy!"
And then run to him.
Calista also ran to his side in time to catch him.
His body sagged against hers.
She draped his right arm over her shoulders and helped him inside. She dropped his body onto the couch. At this point Persephone was sobbing next to him on the floor.
Calista immediately went into nurse mode. She tried calling his name and gently slapping his face to see if he would respond. Nope.
She then loosened his clothes about his neck, checked his breathing. It was soft and even.
