Marlie's POV
The drive to Damian's pack, which he told me was called Blood Creek pack, took around an hour, but Damian's soothing touch made the time seem to go by much faster. I tried to tell myself to be wary of him because of everything that I had been told, but it was almost impossible, everything just kept drawing me towards him. When I was at home it was easy not to trust him, I wasn't in his presence and didn't have to try and resist his charms, but anytime I am around him I seem to just melt like butter into his hold, forgetting everything else. Stupid mate-bond.
Damian opened the car door and helped me out of the car while thanking the driver, Ian. I looked up and saw what I assumed was the packhouse. It wasn't nearly as big as the packhouse at the White Moon pack, but it was still really big.
"This is your new home," Damian said, grabbing my hand and leading me towards the door. "I'll show you around soon, but for now let's get you settled in." We walked to the elevator and went up to the top floor, the Alpha floor, and then into a large master bedroom. The room was beautiful; a mix of greys and whites with some dark wood and stone accents. There was a huge bed across from a lovely stone fireplace with a large TV mounted on the mantle, as well as a love seat, a couple of chairs, and a coffee table sitting around the fireplace to make up a little sitting area. I slowly walked in, admiring everything, while Damian took my bag to what I assumed was the walk-in closet.
"This is beautiful." I turned to Damian, smiling.
"I'm glad you like it." He reached out, offering me his hand, which I gladly accepted, relishing in the pleasurable sparks that radiated from his touch. "Let me introduce you to my Beta." He took me back to the elevator and we went down one floor before the doors opened up, revealing the well-decorated hallway of the Beta floor.
"Is everything in your packhouse this nice?" I asked, following him to a door that was down the hall from the elevator.
"For the most part, however, the second floor, the Omega floor, is not this nice." He knocked lightly on the door before opening it, walking inside and motioning for me to follow. "Marlie, meet my Beta, Samuel."
"Hi." I bit my lip nervously, reaching my hand out to shake Samuel's.
"It's nice to meet you, Luna." He took my hand, gave it a light squeeze, and chuckled when my eyes opened wide. I don't know why it didn't hit me sooner. The Alpha's mate always becomes the pack's Luna, but it hit me all of a sudden like a brick.
"I'm only a human, how am I supposed to be the Luna?" I spoke my thoughts out loud, still in complete shock.
"Don't worry about it, love, you will have lots of help." Damian wrapped his arms around me, planting a soft kiss on my head that brought me out of my shock, painting a light blush across my face.
"It will come naturally to you with time, Luna." Samuel patted my shoulder. "That is why the Moon Goddess mated you to an Alpha."
"Please just call me Marlie." I pleaded to Samuel, who gave me an accepting smile. "I'm sorry, this is all a little too much." I pushed myself further into Damian's arms, taking a deep breath.
"It's okay, love, we can just go back up to our room. I've been waiting to spend some time with you alone since I first laid eyes on you." Damian spoke into my hair. "I will see you later, Samuel."
"See you later, Alpha, Luna." Samuel gave us a slight bow before returning to his desk to continue the work he was doing on his computer. Damian quickly took me back to our room and pulled me into his lap on the loveseat where I buried my face in his neck, inhaling his heavenly scent. I thought again about what my family and Alpha Caleb had told me about him and still couldn't understand how he is this sweet to me, yet still such a violent person.

I don't remember falling asleep, but I found myself waking up in a very soft bed. I rubbed my eyes and stretched, looking around the room. It took me a minute to remember that I was in the Blood Creek pack, in mine and Damian's bedroom. I got out of bed and looked at the clock, seeing it was almost three in the afternoon, I missed lunch.
I left the bedroom and checked all the other rooms on the Alpha floor but didn't find Damian anywhere. I wasn't sure of where he would be, as I didn't know the packgrounds at all, so I made my way down to the Beta floor to find Samuel, hoping he could direct me where to go. Going to the office that Damian had taken me to before, I knocked lightly on the door, becoming startled when my knock was answered from behind me.
"Marlie, what are you doing here?" I heard Samuel's voice and jumped, quickly spinning around.
"I don't know my way around the pack and didn't know where Damian was," I replied, slightly shaking in fear that I was in trouble. I was worried I would be reprimanded for leaving the Alpha floor without permission.
"Let me see," Samuel said before I saw his eyes cloud over, indicating that he was mind-linking someone. "Ahh, he was just talking to some warriors about their training schedule, he will be right up to get you. For now, you can hang out with me in my office." Samuel opened the door behind me and motioned for me to go inside, which I did. We sat down on the little loveseat near the door and played with my hands anxiously.
"Samuel?" I looked up at his face and he slightly c*cked his head to the side, waiting to see what I had to say. "Can I ask you a question about Damian?"
"Of course, you can ask me anything!" He smiled at me, making me relax slightly.
"Is Damian.. violent?" I whispered the last word, worried that he would get mad at me for asking. Samuel frowned and opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted before he could even say a word.
"Hello, love." Damian walked over to me and helped me up from my seat. I was a little shocked at how quickly he showed up. "Come, let's go, I wanna show you something." He said and I followed him to the door, sparing a last-minute glance at Samuel, who made eye contact with me, a smile that didn't reach his eyes on his face.
Damian led me through the packhouse silently, putting me on edge. Did he hear what I asked Samuel? Was he going to punish me for thinking such things of him? We got down to the first floor and he began leading me through the house, walking through many different rooms. I noticed that there weren't many people around. Compared to my old pack, this place seemed deserted. As we were about to go through a door, I heard a shout from behind me and I jumped forward and grabbed Damian's arm.
"Alpha!" The voice called out, and Damian turned his body just enough so that he could see the person speaking through his peripheral vision. "Alpha Caleb of White Moon pack has requested to speak with you. He said it was urgent and that he could be here by evening." The man speaking looked slightly older than me and also quite nervous.
"I'm busy today," Damian growled angrily, making both me and the man step away from him in fear. "Tell him he can meet me outside the pack borders at lunchtime tomorrow. Please." Damian added, calming his voice down as he sensed the fear emanating from both of us.
"Yes, Alpha!" The guy said before turning and rushing away, leaving me and Damian to go back to what we were doing before, whatever that was. Opening the door, Damian walked out and I followed close behind, worried if I didn't stay close I would get lost. I knew nothing about this pack, not the people, nor the area, so I didn't want to leave Damian's side, no matter how frightening he may be.
"Where are we going?" I finally asked Damian after we walked for a few minutes outside.
"We are going somewhere I visit every day; I figured you might enjoy it." He replied, not turning to look at me as he spoke. We continued walking for another minute or so before he led me to a house-like building. It was much smaller than the packhouse, but still seemed large for a house that would hold a normal-sized family.
We went inside and I heard the sound of children's laughter echoing through the building. I looked at Damian curiously, but he was already down the hallway, turning to walk into a room. I quickly jogged to catch up with him and when I entered the room I saw him crouched down with five or six kids climbing all over him. Stopping in the doorway, I smiled as I watched the children. they seemed so happy to see him and it warmed my heart. He said this was a place he visited often, so he couldn't be such a bad person right? I mean, what villain spends time with children every day, often enough to make them happy to see him?
"Welcome, Luna!" A woman came over to me, smiling and holding her hand out to shake mine.
"Please, it's just Marlie." I shook her hand and looked at all the kids. "What is this place?"
"Blood Creek's Orphanage." It was Damian who answered my question. "These are all the kids who have lost their parents." He added, standing up as I looked at each one of the kids. They seemed to range between the ages of five and ten.
"Just these six?" I asked after doing a quick headcount, seeing there were four boys and two girls. The sad truth about werewolf kids is that they lose their parents in battles quite often.
"Actually, there is one more, she is napping in the other room." The woman motioned to a baby monitor that showed a bit of movement. "Or she was, let me go get her up."
"Please, Marissa, let me do it," Damian said, hurrying out of the room before she could say anything. I was a little nervous being without him, but Damian was quickly back in the room with us, holding an adorable little girl who was rubbing her eyes from sleepiness.
"Hello cutie, what's your name?" I asked her, brushing her blonde hair out of her face so I could see her bright blue eyes.
"Her name is Abbie, she is three," Damian answered me, his voice soft and sweet. It was adorable to see how he melted down into a softy when he was around the kids.
"Hi Abbie, I am Marlie." I greeted her as Damian and I sat on the floor with all the kids. Damian continued to introduce me to all of the kids and we spent a couple of hours hanging out at the orphanage before he told each one of them that we had to leave. They seemed upset that we were leaving, but cheered up when I promised them that we would come back and see them tomorrow. I didn't think about asking Damian for permission at first, but he seemed happy with it, so I tried not to let myself worry too much.
We headed back to the packhouse and up to our room where Damian had dinner sent up for us to eat alone. He said it was so we could spend time together, but I think he somehow knew I was nervous about meeting the whole pack. I never even ate in the packhouse in my old pack which I lived in for eighteen years, so eating in this one seemed very frightening.
We talked and laughed for a while before deciding to get ready and head to bed. After we both showered and changed our clothes, he pulled me into his arms on the bed, making me be his little spoon. I sighed in contentment as he kissed my neck, making me blush bright red. I wasn't used to anyone giving me this kind of attention, but I didn't hate receiving it from Damian.
It wasn't long before I heard Damian's breathing pattern change and I knew he had fallen asleep. I smiled to myself, thinking over the things that happened today. There was no way that he was what everyone else told me. I refuse to believe it after how he acted today. My mate is the sweetest man I have ever met and I am happy that the Moon Goddess chose him for me.
