Camille’s POV
The next day Shyla comes over to spend the day with me until I work at 4pm.
“I’m so glad you weren’t here when they came and ransacked your place! You could’ve been raped or something!” Shyla exclaims.
“Yeah but my place was destroyed nonetheless. This f*****g sucks!” I huff as I continue to clean up broken pieces of my stuff all over my kitchen floor. “I wonder what their goal was anyway…”
“It’s almost like they were looking for something or had a vendetta against you. Know if anyone who wants you dead?” She raises a half-serious eyebrow at me.
“What makes you think they wanted to kill me?!” I blurt at her.
“I’m just asking… you never know.” She shrugs.
“Well to answer your question, I don’t have a lot of friends or family let alone enemies… so no. I don’t know of anyone who would want to kill me.”
“Well I’m not leaving your place unattended anymore. I should just move in.” She sighs.
“No. I don’t want you to be here alone if they show up for some reason again. I doubt they will because now the cops are watching this place but just in case, I’d rather no one be here. We don’t know these people or what they might do.” I explain.
“Hey, you don’t give me enough credit. I could kick ass if I had to.”
“The answer is no. It could be one person, it could be five, so you’re not going to stay here tonight when I’m gone to work. I’d rather you go home where it’s safe.”
“Fine. But I’m coming over again tomorrow when you’re here.”
“Fine by me.”
Later that day the locksmith comes to change my locks as a precaution on my part. The officer on my case calls today to check up and I explain to him that nothing else has happened and it’s been quiet. He assures me to call back if anything weird or out of the ordinary happens again. I feel safe knowing I have people looking out for me, but totally vulnerable at the same time. The people or person who broke in might know everything about me already and I have no clues as to who they may be or why they did what they did. It makes me feel a tad exposed and uneasy.
I try my best not to think about it and Shyla spends the afternoon helping me clean and we watch a few episodes of Pretty Little Liars together. We make an early dinner before she leaves and I’m forced to get ready for work.
I finish my shift and clock out at my normal 11pm time and sigh heavily as I drive home. That same guy that bought me my smoothie yesterday happened to be at the bar tonight. I’ve never seen him around before and suddenly I see him twice in two days. Part of me thinks it’s a bit strange but at the same time I can’t help the giddy butterflies that fill my stomach. He’s more gorgeous every time I see him. He came to the bar wearing black jeans with a few rips in them, a grey v-neck t-shirt that his muscles threatened to tear open and black timberlands. Don’t ask me how I remember every detail about him, I just do. He ordered a whisky on the rocks and quietly watched me work while flashing me the whitest smile once in a while. I could tell he was nervous but couldn’t quite pinpoint why. At the end of the night he politely stopped me by placing a hand on my arm and shyly asked me if he could treat me to lunch tomorrow. I was taken aback because I haven’t been asked in a real date in so long but the only word that left my mouth was “yes.” I can’t ignore how drawn I feel to him. I’ve never felt that way about anyone before.
I arrive home feeling like someone had been watching me on the drive and as soon as I make into my condo I lock the door and double check that all the windows are locked. Was it the guy from the bar? Did he follow me home? I sit quietly on my couch, death-gripping my phone until I sense that something is definitely wrong. I peak ever-so-slightly through the blinds and notice a black SUV that I’ve never seen before parked right below my window. I’m four floors up but it’s still eery and makes my breath catch in my throat. I immediately pick up my phone and quietly call 911 again.
“I think someone is watching me in the SUV that’s parked outside my condo.”
“Okay we’re sending someone over right away. They’ll be there in a few minutes.” Says the dispatcher.
“Thank you. Tell them to hurry.” I say with a shaky voice.
Not very often am I put in a position where I’m genuinely scared but right now I don’t know what to think. This is all too weird.

Unknown POV
“So are we going to go to her place again today? What if she’s not home again?” Asks Avery.
“I’m thinking it’s not a good idea to show up at her house after I bumped into her at the mall yesterday. I don’t want to freak her out. Meeting her in a neutral environment is probably smarter.” I explain.
Yesterday when I went to her place I simply knocked on her front door and waited for an answer. When she didn’t come to the door I left. I didn’t want to hang around like a creep and cause her neighbours to worry either. As I left her condo though I noticed a strange black SUV parked outside her place. I got a weird feeling but ignored it.
It’s about 9am and we order room service for breakfast.
“I found out she works at a local bar in town. You could always check there.” Jonathon suggests.
“You knew where she worked and didn’t tell me till just now?” I stammer.
“I didn’t find out till just now. I figured it’s a good “neutral” environment to bump into her again.”
“I appreciate that. Thanks. I’m going to send Brock and a couple of the warriors to guard her place and just keep an eye on it while I’m out today.”
“Why?” Asks Avery.
“I just have this feeling. I saw a suspicious black SUV parked outside her place yesterday and all the windows were tinted. I couldn’t see who was inside it but it didn’t sit well with me.”
“Very well. What should we do?” Asks Jonathon.
“I’d like you guys to stay here unless I need you.”
“You want us cooped up in a hotel room all day?” Avery raises an eyebrow at me.
“Do what you want, but don’t go to the bar or her condo.”
“Yes Alpha.” They both respond in unison.
The three of us spend the day scoping out the area and checking out popular places to visit to kill time. We eat lunch in a small local cafe and I check in with Brock to make sure nothing weird is happening at her condo.
“Nothing suspicious to report. She’s home right now with someone else in her condo. A female friend I think.”
“Okay thanks for letting me know, Brock. Keep in touch.”
“Will do, Alpha.”
If I’m correct, she’s probably with the same friend she was at the mall with yesterday. Thinking about our interaction at the mall gives me butterflies. I picture her thick, shiny hair in that messy bun and remember how mesmerizing her green eyes were. Like a green gemstone, they sparkled and reflected light like little mirrors. I committed every single one of her little freckles to memory and imagined running my fingers lightly across her face. Her lips were perfectly plump and I could only imagine what they felt like to kiss. I had to shake my head and snap back to reality before I popped a boner in public in front of the guys. Get ahold of yourself! My wolf, Ezra was running in happy circles in my head.
I want to meet our mate!!
I want to too. We just need to be patient. Hopefully today I can have a true conversation with her.
She’s so perfect! I can’t wait to meet her!
He continues to run circles in my head for a while before he lays down and starts to whine.
Ezra, calm down. You’ll get your chance to meet her, I promise.
His whining subsides and I can once again focus on the task at hand.
“Okay it’s just about time for me to head to the bar. Stay close in case I need you guys for anything, please.”
Avery and Jonathon nod and we part ways. I head to the bar where she works and pray to the Moon Goddess that I get to see her beautiful face. As I enter the bar I get a whiff of vanilla and raspberry once again. It immediately makes my mouth water. I scan the room quickly and as soon as I lay my eyes on her, my d**k twitches in my pants. Jesus, get ahold of yourself! I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths then slowly approach her as she serves her customers. Her ash-blonde hair is now down and hangs in loose curls long enough to almost touch her belt. She’s wearing black skinny jeans that hug her ass perfectly and it takes everything in me not to slam her into the nearest wall and claim her as mine right then and there. I’ve never seen any person look more perfect in my life. Her midriff is showing just enough for me to be able to tell how smooth and soft her skin is. Once again I have to take a few deep breaths before I completely lose control over how gorgeous my mate is. Her cleavage pokes just overtop and below of her dark green tie up open-front crop top. I have the urge to take my shirt off and force her to wear it so the men in the bar will stop looking at her like a piece of meat. Ezra threatens to take over but I manage to real him in just as a small growl escapes my lips. I force a fake cough to cover it and not draw attention to myself. I want so badly to just grab her and take her home with me. As soon as those thoughts leave my mind she looks up in my direction and our eyes meet. My words catch in my throat and all I can manage to do is flash her a friendly smile and wave. Her face lights up and she returns the gesture with a beautiful smile of her own. My knees threaten to buckle under me but I sit myself in a nearby barstool just in time. This is much harder than I thought it would be.

I leave the bar after a short conversation with her and join the guys back at the hotel. It’s almost 11pm now but I’m wide awake.
“So, how’d it go?” Asks Jonathon as I close the door to our room behind me.
“I asked her to lunch tomorrow and she said yes.” I explain.
I can’t help but grin ear to ear. I’ve never been more anxious or excited in my life.
“I told her I’d meet her at the cafe we went to today. I didn’t want to say I’d pick her up at her place and make it creepy. She doesn’t know that I know where she lives.”
“Smart move.” Jonathon nods.
“Hey does she have any hot friends?” Asks Avery suddenly.
“Damn man. Can’t you go five minutes without thinking about chicks?” I question him with a look of exhaustion on my face.
“Hey it was just a question! And to answer your question, yes I can, believe it or not!”
Jonathon and I exchange an exasperated look and then share a chuckle. Avery just huffs and collapses onto the sofa.
We spend the next thirty minutes going over some pack duties and contracts with a few clients through Argenti Contracting. I’m in the midst of an important email when Ezra starts losing his mind.
Our mate!! Danger!
What do you mean danger? Ezra what’s going on?
She’s in danger!
“Jonathon!” I shoot up out of my desk.
“What?” He asks with a serious tone and stands up. “What’s wrong?”
“Ezra senses that Camille’s in danger.”
“Dude your eyes are black you need to chill. Take a few deep breaths.” Jonathon suggests.
“MY MATE IS IN DANGER!” I yell suddenly.
I instantly shrink back and apologize.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to lose control like that. But we need to go. Now.” I say as I grab my coat and basically sprint out the door. Just as we approach our Tahoe, I get an urgent call from Brock saying he saw four vampires exit a vehicle outside her place and approach her condo. I hand the phone to Jonathon because I’m too furious to speak.
“Tell Brock to wait for us! We’ll be there soon! Whoever they are I’ll kill them before they have the chance to get near my mate!” Ezra speaks through me as I feel my eyes go completely black again.
Rage fills my body and I immediately shift into wolf form, bearing my fangs and snarling.
“Alpha! You’re on human territory, this is dangerous!” Jonathon says after hanging up the phone with Brock.
Jonathon, don’t tell me what to do right now. My mate is in danger!!
I communicate through our mind link. When we’re all in wolf form we can hear each other’s thoughts, but Jonathon and Avery are still in human form so they can’t understand me unless I use my mind link.
“I apologize, we’ll follow you closely in the Tahoe with some clothes for when you change back.”
“s**t just got serious.” I hear Avery say behind me as I bolt in Camille’s direction.
