6. A plan

"Do you have a full report from the incident?" - I asked Gordon. His face curled in anger. "Incident?! You are calling a cold-blooded murder of our two fellow Alphas an incident?!" - he shouted, piercing me with his stare. I held his glare giving him time to get his nerves under control. That kind of behavior isn't something that should come from a Lieutenant. His people are counting on him to remain clear minded and calculating as there is no other way to outsmart the shutter and capture him. When Gordon's pulsating forehead's vein became less visible I repeated my question. "So what about that Report?" "What kind of Report do you want, Boy? He killed two Alphas, I'm getting short on Men who can replace them. It was the sixth incident as you call it on my lands in the last five months." "So you haven't sent trackers, found his spot, or you can't even tell us all at least which territory was being targeted this time? Have you done anything aside from calling us here?!" - I pointed out all the shortcomings. Gordon started growling at me for the disrespect I just showed him, but let's face it, this man has done nothing to get on my good side or gain loyalty, on the contrary, it's just another situation showing he's a wrong man in the wrong place. Product of nepotism, proving that birthright is sometimes not enough. "Listen, Pup. I will not sit here and listen to you disrespecting me. How dare you even imply that I've done nothing?!" - said Gordon, and that earned him a wholehearted laugh from Edweek. When Vampire was done with having his fun, he wiped invisible tears and looked at Lazarus. "You're funny, Lieutenant Gordon. A real Comedian." - his expression suddenly hardened - "Now tell us all what you know, and stop wasting our time. Cause as far as I can see, that Pup as you called Lieutenant of the South, is much more professional and if any of you incompetent Mutts will figure this out, it's him." Gordon glared at him and I almost heard his grinding teeth. It took him another minute of our precious time before he stopped his staring contest. "Attack took place in Fearless Bests' territory, he was shooting from almost a mile away. We found his location on the hillside facing a Pack House entrance. Trackers found no scent, after which they could follow, so he once again disappeared into thin air." I rubbed my face with my hand in annoyance. If that's what he's calling a report we are in deep trouble. Moray will probably shoot us all like ducks before we so much as find his trail. Alright, enough is enough, I'm not too worried that he's hunting on Gordon's land, but if my calculations are correct, he will be changing his location soon, and if he ends up in the South he will become my problem. 'Irwin, bring me a detailed map of the East and my own report on Moray.' - I mindlinked my right hand. In no time the doors opened and Irwin came with a thick folder and a map just like I asked him too. "What's all this?" - asked Poe looking at the stack of documents. "My own investigation on Moray. Now, Lieutenant Gordon put attacked Packs on the map, please. In order preferably and write dates of attacks." - I asked politely not wanting to have another spat taking our minds from the main problem here. Gordon stood above the map, studying it for a while, before he started to draw circles uncertainty. For f**k's sake, doesn't he even know where the Packs under his command are?! I glanced at Darren and he was snickering at the sight. Perfect. Other leaders are already making fun of us. "That's about it." - Gordon announced, sliding the map over to me. I studied the terrain and it was just like in other territories. So I may actually be right. "Alright, this looks about right." - I opened my folder and showed them three other maps, one from Poe's lands with three dots representing packs, two maps showing Clarence's territory and his border with Gordon's lands. I saw Edweek moving closer to have a look but Lady Nija and still unknown for me Werebear stayed in their places, looking not interested at all. "So this is what I figured out so far. Moray is on the move. After every five to seven months he's changing his location and starts to target Packs from the area. He's been doing that for at least three and a half years. That's when we spotted the first signature." - I threw the polaroid picture on the table, with a moray-like curve carved into the bark of the tree, looking like a child made it. - "He makes his signature before the work is done, so even if his attack was unsuccessful we still found the spot. And unfortunately for us, he's getting better in both curving his signature and in aiming. He hasn't missed any of his targets for the last year." - I showed them three more pictures of wooden Morays. "According to my calculations he should be leaving the area he's in now very soon, unless he already did. Of that we can't be sure." "But what's his main goal? Why is he killing Alphas and other high ranked wolves?" - asked Clarence. "I'm not sure, but I think he wants to cause chaos in our lands. I don't know what his end game is though. I have a few theories but that's it." "That's just wonderful that you know what he did, it's clear that you admire that Fucker, but do you have any idea how to stop him?" - asked Poe, crossing his arms on his chest, his piercing yellow eyes fixed on me challengingly. "I don't admire him, but I'm impressed how well organized he is, even you must see it, Poe." - I gave him a pointed look - "But to answer your question I actually have an idea how to find him. Things will get a bit complicated, since he's about to settle in someplace new. So we will have to wait for another strike then search the area closest to that place and I'm more than sure we will find them. In the meantime Lieutenant Gordon, could you organise a search party who could cover this area?" - I asked, circling on the map in the place of inhabited lands. "What should I look for exactly?" - asked Gordon. "Look for any kind of hideout. Old warehouse, factory, secluded houses. Basically anything that is far away from other Packs that he could stay unnoticed but close enough to get there in a few hours." - I explained. "Do you have any idea how hard it will be to find one man's hideout?! It's like looking for a needle in a haystack." - Lazarus said, throwing his arms in the air. Of course, every amount of work is too much for him. He's such a disgrace for the Lieutenant post. "He's not a One Man, I think there are at least three of them. In a few places after sniper attacks we found no carvings, so I think they have two shooters and one driver." - I said. "So there could be only two of them. Why do you think there are more?" - asked Poe narrowing his eyes on me. "Two sets of pawprints from the spot. And there is always a driver, he's not stupid enough to leave his runaway truck unattended." - I explained, pointing to another polaroid picture. "You said we need to wait for his other attack to find him? Are you suggesting we should sacrifice another Alpha?" - asked Poe. Clarence and Gordon looked at me like they just caught up on that, even though I thought I made myself clear. "Yes." - I said calmly. "How can you throw someone's life away so casually?!" - asked Clarence with a troubled expression. "We could have caught him in his last spot, if Lieutenant Gordon would have informed us earlier about the last two strikes. Now we have to wait for him to settle somewhere new. But as far as I've noticed he targets Packs closest to his hideout first, moving further away with time, so after that first attack search should be fairly easy, but of course would require the best trackers all four of us have." "Can't the witch target him?" - asked Gordon with a hint of disgust pointing to Lady Nija. "And what should she look for, Gordon? Who do you think he is?! Cause from what we saw today it's clear he is hunting other werewolves. So tell me, how many lone wolves or small groups without a Pack should she target before you'll be satisfied? Or are you asking for her help because you're too lazy to search your own turf?" - Darren sneered. Gordon started glaring at the Vampire, so I decided to stop them before this might escalate. "That's exactly why it is so important for you, Lieutenant, to find their hideout. They will most likely leave something behind and with some personal item, Lady Nija would have a much easier work to do. If we all work together there might even be no next attack." - I revealed the next step of my plan. I wasn't planning on doing that, but otherwise things between Edweek and Gordon would never end. "That's really impressive, but who exactly is he and what his motives are?" - asked Poe looking bored. "Isn't it obvious?!" - I asked, raising my brow and honesty feeling good I knew something that arrogant Prick didn't - "He's a half human, and by the way he hates all the High Ranked wolves he's a brothel pup." And I'm sure that with him I'll find my Mate. That's why I need to get to him first. But I'm not going to tell them that.
