Dante’s POV
I had managed to do a good job the moment I saw her. The one girl that had been in my head since the moment I woke up and realized her gone.
Even though I knew she mentioned a boyfriend, there was really no way he was worth the game if he could leave her all alone in a vacation house she had booked for me.
For me, that was new, women were usually more inclined to leave things to me, they always seemed to believe they only needed to look pretty if they were with me.
“Do you know her from somewhere?” Niko finally asked unable to hold onto his curiosity anymore. I glanced back at her, bag fallen and mouth open in shock and the reminder of what those lips tasted like flooded my memory.
The thought that she was my next door neighbor appealed to me greatly even though I had been considering emptying the whole floor just last night. Since it was my building, getting the other two people on the floor to go to another floor while getting some price reduction was definitely not a problem.
“You seem like you have seen a ghost wild cat.” I said in the same sing song voice after seeing her lack of reaction from my first words.
“How…how.. is it possible that you stay here?” She stuttered even as she looked behind her. Her eyes were full worry and something I couldn’t place my hands on.
Glancing back to confirm that Niko was no longer in the hallway, I closed the distance between the both of us and did the one thing I had imagined myself doing the whole weekend she had gone.
Pressed beneath me with eyes open wide in shock, her lips taste just as I remember and this time, there some bit of strawberry that made me wonder what she had been eating.
Nothing pleases me more than her not resisting. It meant that she liked this as much as I did. Or so I thought until I my little wild cat knees me in the groin.
“Damn!” I yelped in pain and watch as she runs inside her apartment with a swipe of her card. If she had hit me anywhere else, I was certain I could have handled it but this?
I chuckled lowly as I went back to my apartment, Niko’s brows arched in curiosity as he sees me clutching my groin.
If he knew by any means that I had just been kicked, he said nothing, yet amusement danced in his blue orbs as I sat down.
“Who is she?” He finally asked.
Somehow, I didn’t feel willing to share anything with him but at the same time, I had no choice and told him about our brief encounter in my house.
Niko was stunned and suspicious.
“Who would have the key?” He asked as his eyes narrowed into slits. As the head of my security, a matter like this wouldn’t be just simple coincidence to him.
“You can check and access the past surveillance videos. In the mean time, I have a pet that needs my attention.”
“Dante? Is everything normal?” Niko asked as he peered intently at me.
“When I lost my dog when we were twelve, where did we find it? I seem to find this matter related.”
I doubled over in laughter as I realized what he was thinking.
“You don’t like dogs and you have never had one. Neither have I. Do you now believe I’m the one?”
“Needed to confirm. After all, it’s weird that you seem to be paying her some attention.” He said with a shrug of his shoulders.
I nod my head in understanding, it wasn’t weird that he felt that way, I always went out of my way to steer clear of girls or women. Yet, there was something about her that called out to me.
Like a part of me wanted to be saved by her.
Or was she the one that needed saving? After all, she didn’t seem to look any happier than I remembered.
Was there really a boyfriend? And have they made up after he stood her up?
Several thoughts along that line are running through my mind as I press the bell by her door.
