Frederic found himself at a loss for words.
He was aware that Joey had been harboring resentment about a past incident, and though he had initiated a search for evidence, it had somehow been intercepted.
Joey's terse smile indicated she had gotten the answer from his silence.
"No need to answer. I've got my answer. Everyone can leave. I'll handle this myself."
At that moment, Stan's voice echoed from the doorway. "I have the evidence you're looking for."
Stan, accompanied by Xena, strode into the room, both quickly making their way to Joey's bedside.
Observing her pallor, Stan looked at Frederic with scorn.
"Mr. Adamson, is this your idea of protection? All you've done is subject her to endless pain. If you had any love for her, you wouldn't let her suffer like this."
