"I'd love to eat but.." I glanced at the emptied plates on the table "there is nothing left for me" I uttered with a loud sigh staring at her face. She bit her lip, lost in her thoughts, I retracted my gaze from her after some minutes and waved my hand to the chef to continue with their work which was stopped halfway by Demeter's sudden question.
"Wait for a moment," she said to the chef after a while of silence, I raised my brow confused, she glanced at me then back to the head chef, "set the kitchen I'll be there to prepare his meal" I was stunned that I stared at her with shock visible on my face, "this is beyond my expectations," I thought as I watched the head chef bow and left the hall. I composed myself and smiled, "Interesting Demeter, are you worried about me?" She sneered and got up from the seat.
"I'm just worried that someone might die of hunger tonight. Besides, I ate all the dishes leaving none to you, so it's proper for me to make another one for you" she let out and strode out of the hall. I chuckled at her sense of humility but suddenly my face turned sullen as a thought flashed through my mind, "could she be hatching or plotting against me?" I let out ruffling my hair.
"My king, I think that my lady is being sincere. There is nothing to worry about, I'll keep a close watch on her" Lysander's voice came from behind which startled me, I stared at him with a grim face. He coughed awkwardly and moved closer to the table. "My apologies my king, you were deep in thoughts when I entered and I found it inappropriate to interrupt you" he mumbled as he slightly bowed his head.
"I believe that it won't be inappropriate if I have your head on a platter" I asserted with a raised brow. "My apologies my king, Lysander is wrong for hearing my lord's thoughts" he fell on his knees pleading. I sneered, staring at his frugal state. "Keep a watch on Demeter" I ordered, he bowed and ran out of the hall. I chuckled, tapping my finger on the table waiting impatiently for Demeter. I can't wait to have a taste of the meal she prepared for me. This is nothing like the Demeter I know but I'd enjoy the reborn Demeter.
Jasmine's p.o.v.
I was eagerly stuffing my mouth savoring the taste of the dishes placed on the table. I let out a swift moan as the taste of the food was so similar to the ones served in a seven-star hotel. I burped rubbing my belly as I stared at the two remaining untouched dishes pitifully, "I'm sorry I can't go any longer, I would've eaten up everything" I thought, resting my back on the seat and wiping off the oil on my mouth. I heard a masculine voice which startled me, I followed the direction and caught the gaze of the strange man checking me out. I clenched my teeth, scolding myself for almost forgetting that I was here with the creepy stranger. I felt my face hot as I remembered the embarrassing scenes from eating wildly and not acting like a lady. I clasped the hem of my dress praying for a hole to appear so that I'd hide. He commented on my appetite with a smirk asserting that I'm a glutton. I mumbled a few words inwardly not realizing that the words were actually said out. I immediately covered my mouth with my palms realizing that I uttered the word so loud. He chuckled and mentioned rewarding the chef as I fancied the food, I rolled my eyes having no time for his sarcasm as my longing for food is so long and known by those who are close to me. I flinched as I heard him snap his finger instructing the chef to clear the table, I was abruptly stunned watching the chefs about to take out the innocent food.
"Stop!" I said in a raised voice, "I left these for you. I noticed that you didn't eat anything or ain't you going to eat?" I asked curiously. However, I knew that if there was still space left in my stomach, I would have eaten the whole plate of food, I smiled sheepishly attempting to cover my uneasiness. I looked up at him feeling a bit guilty, he sighed heavily gazing at the table, he bluntly mentioned the need of eating but there was nothing left for him on the table. "Truly nothing was left on the table except for veggies," I thought, scolding myself for eating up all the food.
"What to do now?" I bit my lip thinking of a way to solve the chaos as I wouldn't want him to see me from the bad side. "Maybe I should prepare a simple dinner for him," I thought, battling with my mind, but the other part of me didn't see the need of making dinner for a creepy strange man who has held me hostage, in a strange place for days. "Listen up jasmine! The creepy man has been a good boy. He has done nothing but just be kind to you. He got you treated, allowed you to stay in his chambers without molesting you. He gave you a big room with nice interior designs and also served you dinner. Don't you think that if he is a bad guy he would have his way with you, murder you and dispose of your body" I trembled at the thought of it, "since he has been kind to me I would make dinner for him. That'd be of my benefit also, I'll pretend to be respectful and happy to be here then slowly I'll figure my way out of here" I beamed happily at my smart idea and turned my gaze to the chef who was clearing the table and instructed them to wait, they halt abruptly, I took a quick glance ate man in front of me then back to the head chef "set the kitchen I'll be there to prepare his dinner" I muttered, the head chef bowed and left.
