The girls looked at me with amazement. I hissed and looked up to the balcony where the king was standing but he was no longer there. I heaved a sigh of relief and fixed my gaze on Anna and Christine, glaring at them. "What's the matter? You decided to play with us now while you have been ignoring us the whole time" Anna asserted in a mocking tone, I sneered and left them at the spot since the king has gone inside, I don't need them here bickering the whole day disrupting my serenity, I walked down the garden taking in the fresh wind blowing on my bare arms and legs, "Hey, wait for us!" They ran towards me, I ignored them and kept on walking, following the breeze that was hitting my skin. I don't know but this was a sign that there might be a mountain or a river nearby. I hastened my pace and abruptly came to a halt when I realized that I had reached a dead-end. I gasped at the view beneath the dead end. "I would have injured myself if I didn't look properly," I said, arching my neck to see what was beneath. "What are you doing Jasmine? Do you want to die?" Christine pulled me back looking at me with strange emotion, I attempted to rebuke her but got hugged by Anna who was panting heavily, "what are you thinking Jasmine? Trying to commit suicide, you didn't even think of us your friend" Anna asserted, getting me more confused. I pulled out from their embrace staring at them, "what are you both talking about? You're speaking like someone is about to die" I mumbled with my hands on my waist. "Look, she is still acting adamant. I told you she wants to commit suicide, luckily we're here on time to save her." Christine let out, glancing at me, I widened my eyes, suicide! Why would I think of that? I'm still formulating a plan to escape and avenge mom. It will be a waste of death if I don't make them pay for betraying us. I clenched my fist as I recalled the faces of those that betrayed mom. Realizing that I wasn't alone and the girls would find it suspicious and ask questions if they saw me like this, I sigh and settle my mind. I chuckled and glared at the two who were still waiting for an explanation. "What makes you think that I'd end my life, you dull heads?" I inquired sternly, they both stared at each other and muttered something amongst them, "it's clear that you were planning on taking your life. If we didn't arrive on time you would have been deaf by now" Christine said, yanking me closer to them, "don't even think of leaving us" they said in unison giving me a bear hug, almost suffocating me, "that's enough girls! You both would kill me before I even think of committing suicide." I mumbled, their grip on me released suddenly, I stepped back staring at the two, these girls are clearly losing it. Why are they still insisting that I want to end my life, no! I need to clear this misunderstanding, I thought and moved closer to them, "I'm not attempting to commit suicide! It was your wild imagination. Why would I even do that? I still have a lot of things to set right back home." I uttered and stopped suddenly, I gazed back at the dead end and chuckled, "I was just having a close look to see what's beneath the hill," I explained. They heaved a sigh of relief and pulled me to them.
"Look Jasmine, you have to stop acting on your own. We are your guide for this tourist visit, what are we for if you don't listen to instructions?" Anna inquired. They're right, I was pissed at them for teasing me in front of the king that was why I left them behind, I'm sorry girls for frightening you. Although I shouldn't be apologizing because you both made fun of me" I said with gritted teeth, turning my back on them.
"Come on Jas, we were just kidding you don't take it personally. We're sorry" Anna apologized, I smirked and nodded in approval, I looked at Christine who was pretending to be unaware of what was happening, "since someone is pretending to be ignorant, come on Anna let's look around the hill and find some interesting things" I asserted as I grabbed Anna's wrist and tried leaving when Christine stepped in front of us, "I'm sorry Jasmine," she said, I smiled and accepted the apology, "before I forgot, the king restricted people from going close to the hill" Anna reminded me. I turned at her with a creased brow.
"I've never heard of such, besides the king is not here and he won't know unless one of you snitch on me" I let out softly and followed a path that I just realized when I was speaking to Anna and Christine, "fine! We should be careful, I heard that here is haunted" Christine warned, hugging her hand tightly, I rolled my eyes wondering what these two took me for? So I'm the type that is supposed to be scared, I grinned evilly knowing that they would be shocked if they realized what was installed for them.
"Hey look, there is a cave!" Christine screamed and her voice echoed through the whole lonely path. I placed my hand on her mouth, "shh, do you want to alert the wild things that are in the mountain, or do you want to alert the king?" I inquired in a soft tone, she shook her head in disapproval "be calm, I saw the cave. Just follow my lead" I asserted and walked boldly to the cave without trembling, although I was scared, I don't want to ruin the hope and faith they have in me because of my fear, I clenched my fist and walked into the cave but it was very dark just as the night cloud without the moonlight, "what are we going to do now? I have no cellphone and it is very dark here" I lamented and strode out of the cave annoyed.
