chapter 20

Stepping into my chambers after a long day of locking myself in the study, I sat down on the bed waiting for the servants to prepare my bath, suddenly it occurred to me that I haven't seen Demeter or heard anything about her since we argued, is not like I haven't thought about seeing her but I don't know how to face her, I shouldn't have been impulsive, I thought as the flashes of what happened lingers on my mind, "I wonder what she's up to" I muttered beneath my breath. "My Lord" Lysander abruptly walked towards me with a bow. "Why are you here? I told you to keep a watch on the lady" I let out with a questioning gaze, "my lord, I've sent her personal servants to her chambers" I breathed heavily and locked my eyes, tapping my feet on the ground. "The Queen was really angry and she would try to do something about you and miss Ophelia" he asserted, I halt movement with my eyes still closed as my mind wanders off thinking about what Lysander said, "I think she can do whatever she wants none of them is my concern. I don't want anyone to know about Demeter, she still hasn't remembered her past, neither did she have her power, letting the people know about her is like exposing to harm and I wouldn't want that" I thought to myself as I got off the bed ignoring Lysander and headed towards the hot spring, I know his face would be pale and gloomy as he was worried about me but as the heartless sea God I don't care, I'm only worried about my Demeter. After so many years of waiting she finally reincarnated, this is probably a chance from the universe. Walking into the bathhouse the servants helped me strip, left with just my undergarment I waved them off dismissively and soaked myself into the hot spring. After much contemplation and thinking in the hot spring, I resulted to one solution "to keep away from Demeter" I sighed deeply as I know that it was going to be hard, the wave of attraction we have is too strong to ignore, I gritted my teeth and stepped out from the spring, I wore a white robe after drying my body step into my room, I found Lysander still standing, I rolled my eyes and strode past him. "My king, dinner has been served" I nodded and left in large strides. "Actually I guessed that Demeter won't come for dinner as she might feel disgusted to see me, that would be the best so I won't have to feel guilty of what happened at noon, however, I didn't know my expectations would come crashing, I stepped into the hall partially happy that she wasn't present, the servants bowed as they saw me walked in, I pulled out a seat at the head table and sat down. Suddenly I heard a creak and the wooden door at the dining hall flung open revealing an amazingly looking Demeter, my gaze lingers on her for a bit, I swallowed hard as my throat bobbled at how hot she was looking, which made her wear that?" I thought with a creased brow and quickly returned my gaze to the table as couldn't stand the hotness, she pulled out a chair close to me as she approached the table and sat down, my face darkened as I could not keep up with the arousal, I made sure that my gaze won't linger on and was oblivious of her presence. I was about gesturing to the head chef to dish out the meal when I heard her inquiring if I was fine, not really wanting to speak to her or sound hilarious I ignored her and just glanced at her for a while, I immediately looked away when I found her staring at me with unknown emotions which I could barely understand, suddenly I heard a squeak on the floor that startled me, I saw Demeter standing with a flustered look, clearly, I could sense that she was pissed, she mumbled a few words about losing her appetite and dashed out of the dinner hall, I sighed deeply and instructed the chef to serve my dish. I ate the meal coldly wondering what could be up with Demeter, I thought she didn't want to speak with me and I'm only trying to make her feel less comfortable, I wiped my mouth after having a handful of the food and stood up to leave but found Lysander in front of me, I groaned angrily, "what are you doing here, most you appear everywhere I go? It's like I'm going to send you out of the castle. Come on, say it!" I ordered with a creased brow. "My king, my lady left without eating," he said like he was reminding me of something, I glanced at the table and rolled my eyes. "Pack up the food and send it to her chambers" "My king, I believe you're the only one that can make her eat, besides she seems to want to speak to you about someth.." I cut him off, instructing him to leave, he bowed and left, I breathed heavily and instructed one of the chefs to pack her favorite meal that was on the table. I grabbed the packed food strode out of the hall. Moving closer to her door I sent all the guards away and knocked on her door but there was no response, could she be asleep I thought rubbing my hand on the door, suddenly I heard her voice coming from the room asking the person the door leave and come back tomorrow, I huffed at her response and as and an idea clicked on my mind, "doing what I'm good at wouldn't be bad" I thought as I vanished and teleported inside her darkroom, I took a glance at the room and sat on the couch waiting for her to grace my presence with my eyes locked on her figure, abruptly she turned towards the sofa, I can already sense the fear growing inside her and I already know what's next, I snapped my fingers muting her, just like I predicted she tried to scream but no word came out. In the darkness I could clearly see her petrified face, I smirked and watched as she ran towards the bed and switched on the light. I can easily tell that her gaze on me was clearly of shock and fright. She pointed towards me with a trembling finger and inquired what I was doing in her room and how I managed to get in? I snorted, got up from the sofa, and took a few strides but halt suddenly as I realized beads of sweat forming on her forehead, she stepped away from me with wide eyes looking around the room, probably she was trying to escape from me, I sighed and thought of something, "Hey, you want to know how I got in?" I blurted with an arched brow, she sniffled and shook her head in disapproval which I found annoying.
