Chapter 40

"I know that my King still trusts and cares about Lysander" he muttered with a glint in his eyes as he stared at the blue, I rolled my eyes at him. "Don't overthink it, this meant nothing. It's just a pearl that would alert me when someone tries to break into the south wing" I asserted, he chuckled and kept silent. I don't what he is chuckling about, and there is no special about giving him a blue pearl, although I wanted to keep him safe he is overreacting for nothing, I stood up and paced around the room, "if my guess is right they will try to act since everyone would be busy with the queens birthday" I said to myself while pacing the room, "my king, I suggest that you should stay back and not to attend the birthday. The Queen would try to set up you and Miss Ophelia into a relationship in front of the elites and the court elders that would be present thereby putting you in a bad phase" I sighed as his calculation were right but I'm not the type that they could be bullied or set up my marriage without my approval, anyone that dares must be courting death. "I know what you must be thinking, King Damon, that's the exact thing the queen dowager wants from you. You shouldn't fall prey to her lousy plans" "I didn't seek your opinion Lysander, you're no longer my personal advisor. For the party, I'll be attending it with Demeter. That'd be the perfect solution for her unethical plans" I uttered bluntly to get what he would say. Lysander is still my perfect advisor, although I don't acknowledge it. I'd need his advice in this critical moment, nothing should go wrong as I can't bear to see Demeter in pain. He kept mute, I twirled to face him, he cleared his throat as our eyes met. "That is not a good idea my king, taking her to the birthday banquet is like exposing her to more danger" I nodded in agreement, but I had no better plan that would piss mum off. She has always wanted me to marry the bride she chooses but I was not the type to listen to unimportant people who want to leech on me for their benefit. However, she is also one of the prime suspects and I solemnly believe that she has a hand in what happened to my beloved. "I'll make sure that the culprit will pay with their blood" I clenched my fist as the flashes of what happened came rushing to my mind, I wouldn't have thought of having another woman or far apart with Demeter if they didn't assassinate her, I'm going to avenge her. "My King, did you zone out? I've already suggested many plans to you but you didn't respond, or you don't like any of them?" Lysander asked snapping out of thought. "What do you suggest?" "I know a clone spell that will help a lot. We just need a few drops of blood from my lady then we can make a clone that looks just like her. All you have to do is to tell her what to say while creating her, she can speak to the guest and can also possess a little power but she would whither by midnight. What do you think my Lord?" He inquired, I glared at Lysander with a darkened eyes, "you learned the spell in the forbidden book, when did I have an advisor like you?" "My apologies, but I haven't even performed any spell from the forbidden book, I coincidentally saw the book and read it, but think about it my Lord this would be of great assistance which means that my lady would be safe" I groaned, the nerve of Lysander suggesting an evil spell makes me want to believe that he was the spy in the east wing, nevermind that's not why I'm here, I'll deal with that later. "Don't even think that by suggesting the clone spell that you'd be spared, your punishment still awaits you after I come back from the birthday banquet" I uttered and left without sparing him a glance. Clone spell! That's particularly a good idea, but how would I meet up with Demeter and get her blood after what happened this morning, I sighed deeply confused. Maybe I'd have to speak with her and clear things by that way I can get her blood without stress. Moments late, I was already at the long corridor that leads to my door, I hurriedly walked to Demeter's door and knocked since I wasn't hearing any sound oozing out of the room. Where could she be at this hour? I stepped away from her door and walked into my chambers after twisting my doorknob, this little brat can't wait for a moment to disappear on me where the heck is she? I angrily sat on the couch and summoned Aragon, he arrived shortly panting heavily, "you're late by a minute. I made it clear that you should appear before me immediately." "I'm sorry my Lord, but I came quickly just as you ordered" he responded. "How useless! You can't even use the spell of teleportation. Huff, what have you been learning as my personal guard?" I asked in a harsh tone. "I'm trying my best my Lord, teleportation spell is hard and takes a lot of energy" I sneered, I have no time for this lazy guard, he is obviously skipping his lessons, after the birthday banquet I will bring back Lysander and send him back since he is not fit to be my personal guard. I can't be going around with a guard that can't teleport, if urgent matters arise how can he save himself. I would be laughed at by the order kings if I have a weakling that I'd always save thereby ruining my reputation. I glanced at Aragon and instructed him to rise. "Where is lady Demeter?" She isn't in her chambers'' I let out with a raised brow. "My Lord, the lady went out with her servants. I couldn't stop her because she said you gave her that permission to tour the castle" he clarified.
