11 Marnie kept close to the compound for her night flights. She didn’t need to go far. It was like anyone else waking up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water or use the bathroom. Just a slight interruption in her sleep, ten minutes was all it took to calm the urge, and then she could go back to her bed and snuggle under the covers. It was around two o’clock in the morning. The sky was clear and there was most of a moon. Marnie circled above the houses. Lights were on in only one of them. Someone who couldn’t sleep, or maybe had an early shift.
