My father lowered his gaze. “Dad? What is going on?” I knew that we were in trouble as soon as my father seemed to have aged 10 years in one minute. He looked embarrassed and ashamed, while my curiosity spiked. I took Stella's hand and walked towards the couch and comfortably sat, waiting for my father to take a seat and start talking.
Ashia walked towards the door and looked at the three of us, and announced “I am going to give you some privacy. Call me when you are finished.” I nodded at her and waited for the door to close behind her to look at my father.
My father cleared his throat…"OK, son… I will tell you why Ashia believes your mother and my past is chasing you now,” As soon as I heard those words, I braced myself to get a blast from the past.
