Chapter 4: Unexpected Visitor (1)

“Sorry… I don’t think I heard that right… What did you say?” Mason asked, the very sentence the other spoke baffled him greatly. “Cause I think I heard you say… you wanted to break up just now?” The author spoke with a questioning voice and had a clearly confused expression on his face. As if he was waiting for the other to suddenly tell him this was all a joke but unfortunately this wasn’t a joke at all…
“You heard me correctly, it’s time for us to go our separate ways. As a farewell gift…” Edward paused for a moment then spoke again. “I’ll leave the apartment to you, it’s under your name anyways…” He spoke with the coldest of voices while he fixed up his collar. He was dressed in a business suit, all proper and well mannered, he looked like the son of some rich guy, which wouldn’t be too far off the mark if you thought of him as one. He slid his black hair back, it was a bit damp and wet from the heavy rain outside.
“Wait… wait… wait…” Mason said as he stood up again. “You want to break up with me? But you want to leave me the apartment? What for? I don’t need it anyway, I can live here so-” He was interrupted by the other.
“I just feel a bit of pity…” Edward said as he looked at the ground, the empty look in his eyes made him seem like he wasn’t completely sure in what he was doing at that moment.
“Pity…? You’re pitying me? While you’re breaking- alright… You know what? Fine… Let’s break up, I guess I never meant anything to you in the first place…” Mason said as he pushed the man right out the door once again. He used considerable force on him as well but nothing that could hurt him badly either.
“Mason-” Edward tried to speak but his ex-lover quickly interrupted him, not wanting to hear anything more.
“Out! I don’t want to see you again… oh while you’re still here though, have this! It was supposed to be your stupid present after you came back but I guess now it’s a goodbye gift!” Mason yelled at the man as he kicked him out, and threw a small book on the ground next to him. Purposefully making it hit the ground as to not hurt the man. ‘f*****g Hell… I should have aimed for his face…’ He thought to himself in his fit of rage.
“This…-” Edward stopped to look at the opened book, he saw something familiar inside. ‘Did he…’ He wondered to himself as he turned have a closer look at the book then he heard his lover’s screaming.
“f**k you! You came all the way back from the f*****g US just to break up with me?! You should have f*****g stayed there if that was all you’re going to say!” Mason yelled in an attempt to let go of his frustrations but it was simply too much for him to be able to lay it all out like this.
“Hey-!” Edward tried to speak once more as he tried to walk back in again. As if he’d realized something or suddenly regretted his decision but it was already too late. His infuriated ex-lover wasn’t the type to take too kindly to such things.
“Woof! Woof! Woof!” Leo barked at the man that was causing his owner such distress. If the screaming wasn’t enough to wake up all the neighbors in the building then the yelling combined with the barking certainly was.
“You’re… the worst!” Mason said before shutting the door in the man’s face. The small dog that was barking stopped and went to snuggle in its owner as the man sat on the ground.
“f*****g bastard… I can’t believe this…” Mason muttered to himself as he petted Leo, he couldn’t hold back his tears as he spoke: “Thanks for having my back there…” He said to the dog who happily waved its tail knowing he did something right.
“What’s with all the commotion?!” Nathan came out of his room only to see Mason on the ground crying while hugging his dog. “Is… everything… huh? What… happened?”
“You know who just came over?” Mason said as he let go of the small dog in his arms. “Ed came over… just to tell me he’s breaking up with me…”
“He what? No… that’s definitely not something he would do… I mean-” Nathan stopped talking as he looked at how distraught his friend was at that moment. “Ah… f**k work… Do you want to go out with me tomorrow? And watch a movie or something?”
“No, you should go to work… I’d actually prefer to be alone right now…” Mason went back into the living room. He laid down on his bed as the Pomeranian walked up to his side.
“You sure… you don’t want to go out tomorrow? We can…” Nathan felt like the mood wasn’t quite right. ‘Even Leo’s whimpering…’ He thought to himself as he closed the door, leaving the man alone with his thoughts. “Ha… alright… Get some sleep, okay?”
“I’ll try…” Mason muttered under his breath as he laid on the bed face down. The sound of his voice was further muffled from the pillow he had on his face.
Nathan went back to his own room and tried to dial Edward’s number but there was no response…
“This f**k… is he really not going to pick up?” Nathan tried again and again but no matter how many times he called he couldn’t get the man to respond.
“I’ll just leave him a message then…” He settled as he began typing. What should have been a quick ‘What the f**k is wrong with you?’ Message, suddenly turned into a long paragraph exclaiming how difficult Mason’s taking the entire ordeal.
“You can’t just break up with someone without any explanation…” Nathan typed the final sentence and sent the message. Although it turned out longer than he thought it was still better to be clear with what’s happening.
“Ah… now he isn’t even going to look at his MMessage is he?” Nathan muttered to himself as he threw his phone to the side and laid down in bed. Still contemplating whether he should go to work tomorrow or not but finally settles to go.
The events of that night were just a bit too much for everyone involved and in the core of all of it was Edward who not only never mentioned coming back so soon but also suddenly decides to end things witch his lover of two years?!
