“Somebody seems to be calling you really desperately… I wonder if it isn’t your ex boyfriend?” A female voice was heard as Edward blankly looked into the distance. He took out his phone and took one quick glance at it before turning off the sound.
“No, not him…” Edward said as he crossed his hand and laid back. ‘Why is Nathan calling me off all people? And he left a message too… not that I can look at it right now…’ He thought to himself as he felt a thin hand touch his shoulder.
“Hm… I can’t believe I mean so much to you that you’d actually break up with your boyfriend for me… You seem so kind…” The woman said as she slid her hand down the man’s chest caressing him but the other didn’t seem to have much of a reaction.
“It wouldn’t be fair to you, don’t you think?” Edward said as he smiled at her and brought her lips in to meet his. A light kiss that seemed to innocent yet passionate between them.
“I’m used to having just s*x buddies… but the fact you weren’t willing to sleep with me while having a lover shows me you’re loyal.” The woman said as she embraced the man from behind.
“As loyal as they come.” Edward remarked. “I’m all yours now… Emma…” He said with a low seductive voice that instantly sent shivers down the woman’s spine.
“I like the sound of that… Then… how about we do something now? Or maybe you’re too tired of the trip?” Emma asked in a low voice, gently whispering into the other’s ear.
“Tired, yeah… I’m exhausted even…” Edward remarked as he stood up. ‘Tired of everything really…’ He thought to himself as he still felt dejected after what happened but did his utmost to not show it.
“Then let’s just go to bed, darling~” Emma said as she took the man by the hand and led him to the bedroom. They were inside a huge mansion which had far too many rooms to count and far too much unused space to cover…
The predicament Edward found himself in wasn’t at all simple enough to be explained in plain words… It all started half a year ago when he first headed out to the US with his elder brother…
“You can date other people, it’s up to you really…” Edward’s harsh words towards his lover were probably the furthest thing from ideal to say to someone right before leaving. Mason of course reacted horribly to being spoken in such a way. But even then he knew something the other person didn’t…
“You want me to what?” Edward asked as he turned to his brother. They were alone in the elder man’s apartment talking about the trip that they were going on very soon.
“I’m sorry… I know it’s wrong of me to ask this of you but you need to get close to Emma Carte. She… has a special liking to you so it should be easy to get her attention.” Ashton said with a serious but a bit of a saddened voice as if he was disappointed in himself for even suggesting such a thing in the first place.
“I get but… you know I can’t do that…” Edward refused at first but his brother had plenty of good reason to ask this of him.
“Emma Carte… is a major shareholder in our father’s company… She’s one on the board of directors as well… She’s a valuable asset to us if we get her on our side that is…” Ashton said as he leaned against the wall and crossed his hands. “It’s going to be difficult to do things without her assistance…”
“You want me to cheat on my boyfriend to get her to cooperate with us?” Edward asked as he looked up at his brother. “Isn’t it a going a bit too far? I’m sure we can think of another way, there are other shareholders as well and-” He was interrupted.
“I’m sorry but… It’s all I can think of… The rest of the shareholders aren’t the most agreeable of people… and some of them are quite disgusting perverts in their everyday life… Emma Carte is the only reasonable solution… and I promise I’ll do everything to make it up to you and Mason afterwards… anything…” Ashton spoke in a rather desperate voice, he seemed to already be regretting the very mention of such a drastic plan.
“Easy for you to say, you’re not the one putting your relationship on the line for this…” Edward remarked as he moved closer to his brother. “This isn’t something I can do offhandedly just to get back at our father…” He said once more, to him it was a much more serious thing than that.
“Ed… I’m putting my entire company and dignity on the line here… Just to get back at our shitty father, I thought you wanted to help me…” Ashton said in a low voice as he looked down at his brother who was still as hesitant as ever, if not more.
“I do… but…” Edward could barely utter another word. He didn’t want to deny his brother’s request but this seemed a bit excessive in his opinion. Though it was more than common for entire companies to fall into ruin because of affairs and backdoor deals. But Edward wasn’t a part of such things up until that point, he didn’t ever plan on being a part of such a scheme but…
“I promise I’ll make things right and… if not just for me… not just to get back at our father but do it for mom too… She was the one most humiliated after their divorce and…” Ashton took a deep breath as if he was stopping himself from crying. “I still remember how heartbroken she looked when father kicked us out… She was the only person in our entire family to contact me when we left… she even sent us money… Who do you think paid my hospital bills while I was hurt, huh?”
Edward looked at his brother then looked down at the ground. “I get it… I’ll do it…” He finally agreed as he clenched his teeth. This was an awful thing to do by all paragraphs but it was a small price to pay for getting back at someone that deserved it…
