Episode 2- A Charming Stranger
After the chaos from our water gun fight and a quick lecture from my mother, Leah and I decided we would take the day and head to the mall. Of course, in normal fashion, Alex tagged along with his best friend and soon to be Beta, Luca. Luca was just as tall as Alex, standing at 6 foot 5. He was easily taller than most of the boys I had ever seen. He was a superior Beta in every way. His skin was a golden tan that never seemed to fade. He had bright green eyes and the most beautiful dark hair that fell just at the top of his ear. His lips were plump. Oh what I would do to those lips. I day dreamed a moment taking him all in as if it were the first time I saw him. He was the most beautiful man I had ever laid eyes on. There were only two problems… he barely acknowledged my existence and he spent most of his free time when he wasn’t with Alex lip locking with Deanna, a she wolf from our pack. She was pretty but in a fake sort of way. She wore too much makeup and I am sure if she were caught in a rainstorm, her eyebrows would wash right off. He had already turned 18 but she still didn’t bear his mark so maybe there was still hope… just maybe. I was lost in a stare when he looked up and locked eyes with me. I felt a surge rush through my body. Could he be thinking the same? Could he be thinking the same thoughts as me? Luca quickly shook his head which brought him out of his daze. Our brief moment was over.
I felt the pain of hunger deep in my stomach… I was starving. I always seemed to be hungry. Wolves generally have extremely high metabolisms any way but I think mine worked over time. I was lucky to maintain my figure. Along with my mother’s eyes and hair, she gave me her small, curvy stature. I had started to notice them more in the past few months. My shorts would hug my small frame tightly and I noticed that I began to fill out more and more. Maybe Luca noticed too.
Leah and I were making our way to the food court when I began to feel the hot stare of eyes on me. I spun around to see where the glances were coming from. Suddenly, I felt my legs slip from underneath me and I crashed into the bench in front of me. I saw darkness.
As I began to come to, I heard the sweetest voice mixed with the sweetest smell. It smelt like warmed croissants with fresh butter. The smell filled my lungs and intoxicated me. I opened my eyes to see beautiful green eyes staring back at me. My heart felt like it was in my throat. I couldn’t breathe. His hair was dark and he held me so gently.
“Are you okay?”
I had to regain my composure just to answer him. “Yes, just extremely clumsy”.
“I am Aiden. It’s nice to catch you”, he said with a chuckle.
My heart began beating faster and faster. My body was warm and felt almost fuzzy. It seemed I had become speechless as I locked eyes with this handsome man. I finally choked out, “I am Elina.”
“I like that, it’s different. You have the most beautiful eyes.” His voice was so kind, so gentle. Something stirred in the pit of my stomach and I felt as if my heart would simply beat out of my chest.
Suddenly, I was surrounded by Alex and Luca.
“Put her down, she doesn’t belong to you”, Luca barked.
I saw his eyes begin to cloud into a dark gray… this couldn’t be good.
“Sorry, man. I didn’t know she belonged to anyone.”, Aiden answered coolly.
Luca grabbed my hand and helped me up.
“Let’s go, Elina”, he growled.
On the way home, I had to endure my brother and Luca lecture me about mortal boys. The entire conversation circled around their ill intents toward me and that I must not even become close with one... Certainly never fall in love with them. I was well versed in this speech and just let them rant. I stared out the window and thought of the sweet smell. I heard his voice in my head over and over. Then it occurred to me, what did Luca mean by I didn’t belong to Aiden? What did he care if I belonged to someone? I chalked it up to just being a good Beta to Alex and continued to day dream.
Luca POV
The entire car ride to the mall was torture. I was excited to hang out with everyone but it was so hard to resist Elina. She was so perfect. Her gorgeous eyes and petite frame. I wanted to touch, kiss and worship every one of her beautiful curves. She smelled like the sweet caramel. She was a goddess. I had a feeling she may be my mate. Any time I was around her, my heart raced. I began to sweat and my wolf stirred. She wasn’t 18 until tomorrow so we wouldn’t know for sure until then.
What if I wasn’t good enough? I had wasted all this time running around with other girls. I never thought seriously about waiting for my mate. Elina was good and pure. She deserves someone better, better than me. I couldn’t stand the thought of her enduring all the glances from she-wolves. Would she be embarrassed? Ashamed? Angry? Maybe I was thinking too much into this and she wasn’t mine. That thought scared me too. What if she wasn’t mine? I couldn’t bear the thought of her with someone else. My wolf became enraged at the mere thought.
I had to keep my cool. I just had to maintain through today. When we arrived at the mall, Elina stepped out of the car and I could see just how well her shorts hugged her beautiful body. God I wanted my lips all over her. No, Luca. Chill out. I quickly grabbed Alex and we made our way away from the girls. I had to get away. I couldn’t look at Elina any longer.
As we walked the food court I glanced over and saw Elina walking with Leah. I couldn’t help but stare at her. Alex began to speak to me. He, at this point, was a welcome distraction. I glanced over again and immediately began furious. My wolf came to the surface and I had to use every bit of restraint I had to not rip the fool to shreds. Some guy was holding Elina! Some guy was holding my beautiful, perfect angel. Who the hell did he think he was?? I immediately raced over to her.
“Put her down, she doesn’t belong to you!” I said with every bit of restraint I could muster. My face was hot, my blood was boiling. How dare he touch her? Who did this human think he was? I gently grabbed Elina and told her to come.
This wasn’t supposed to happen. I wasn’t supposed to feel this way for her. I could never be good enough for her. She deserved more.
