Augustus' eyes suddenly flew wide open; his gaze was a bit strange and unfocused. His heart was racing extremely fast. For a few minutes, he stared into the distance unnaturally.
Suddenly, his eyes turned natural and innocent-looking, and his heartbeat returned to normal.
Augustus' brows wrinkled slightly, and he tilted his head in confusion as if he wanted to recall where he was. He swept his gaze around the large room.
Suddenly, a happy glint flickered past Augustus' eyes. His lips curved upward, and his furrowed brows straightened as if he had just recalled something.
Augustus raised his hand and touched his forehead absentmindedly. It seems to carry a different type of warmth.
Gillian! Wife!
Augustus sat up and turned to the other side of the bed eagerly; clearly, he hoped to see Gillian next to him.
Unfortunately, Augustus was greeted with the absence of Gillian.
Augustus' brows furrowed, and he sprang up from the bed immediately.
He walked around the room—ranging from the closet to the skincare section, etc.—his black eyes anxiously darting around in search of Gillian.
Yet no matter how much Augustus searched, he couldn't find Gillian's figure in the room.
The more Augustus walked, the more despair in his eyes, and the more his heart raced and his eyes reddened.
Wife couldn't have left Augustus, right?
Without hesitation, Augustus barged into the bathroom, yet there was no presence of Gillian!
Immediately, Augustus' eyes unconsciously turned cold, and he strode out of the room, an oppressive aura oozing out of him.
He pulled the door exceptionally hard, causing it to make a loud sound.
Augustus turned to the now-shivering and frightened guard who watched the bedroom. He pointed at the bed demandingly, a cold aura exuding from him.
"Where's wife?" Augustus demanded, his voice unconsciously cold and harsh.
The guard trembled in fright. Of course, Gillian only told him she was leaving; the poor guard didn't know where Gillian went. How could he reply to Augustus' question? "Youn... Young master..." he stuttered.
Upon seeing the guard's sluggishness, Augustus' brows furrowed, and his eyes turned colder. "Where's wife?" He enunciated
The guard gulped in fright. Young Miss Gillian could only go out and be back within a few hours, right? After all, there's no way Gillian could leave the Albrecht family.
The guard gulped while thinking that he'd just have to weave a lie; Augustus wouldn't know anyway. "Young master! Miss went…"
Augustus deflated like a balloon, and his black eyes dimmed immediately. His whole being turned frail as if he could be blown away by the wind, and shimmering tears pooled in his eyes. “Wife left?" He interjected, his voice trembled, and his lips quivered.
Gillian left!
As if realizing the meaning of the word, Augustus' eyes turned red-rimmed, his body shook, and he burst into silent tears. His lips quivered, and tears rapidly streamed down his cheeks.
Just like when Augustus woke up, he asked for Mom and Dad. But he was told that they went out.
Yet since then, he has never seen them at all. So he won't get to see wife anymore? The thought made his eyes reddened and the tears streamed faster.
The bodyguard froze, and his heart began to pound.
He has seen and made the legendary Augustus Albrecht cry. Won’t the guard be shut up with death to prevent the news from spreading out of the mansion? The guard wanted to faint so badly.
However, first things first, he had to rewrite his mistake.
The bodyguard tried to feign calmness. He waved his hand and quickly spurned a lie.
His voice shook while he tried to clarify. “Young master, young miss went out of the mansion to buy something for young master; she'll be back soon.” He tried to explain.
Augustus pursed his lips and knitted his brows solemnly, understanding one thing. “Wife didn’t leave?” he inquired.
The bodyguard hurriedly shook his head like a rattling drum. He waved his hand and quickly clarified, “No. No. Miss Gillian likes young master so much, Miss Gillian can't leave."
Augustus' eyes lit up immediately, and he couldn't help remembering how wife agreed to their couple's duty, but in the next minute, his eyes dimmed.
His shoulder fell, and he trudged into Gilian's room downcastly.
The bodyguard's heart thrummed so much that it felt as if it were about to fly off. He had spurned another lie: Why is the young master still downcast? Holy mercy!
Within those few minutes of talking with Augustus, he felt as if he had gone to heaven and returned, but looking at it, he didn't seem to help Augustus at all.
He only hopes Gillian will be back soon. His eyes glinted while thinking that the young master really cared about Gillian.

Slap!
The sudden, fierce, crisp slap on Gillian's cheeks by Renata resounded in the mansion as soon as Gillian stepped into the mansion.
Gillian's face whipped to the side, and five red marks appeared on her cheeks immediately.
Tears formed in Gillian's eyes, and her lips quivered. Her hand grabbed her cheeks in reflex, and her lips parted, but before she could...
Renata scowled, and her chest heaved up and down due to anger. She glared at Gillian from head to toe in disdain. "I should have known that no good thing would come out of a joint introduction to such a lowly family as yours.
I expected the Albrecht family name to be able to scare and make you think twice before you take any rash actions, yet you were still able to commit such a heinous thing in the presence of the whole media.
Even if you dislike our family... Even if you have a crush on your brother-in-law, how dare you do such a heinous thing to the Albrecht family?
Because of you, the dignified Albrecht family has become a laughingstock in the whole country. My biggest regret is not tossing bad luck like you out of the family the instant I set my eyes on you. Ever since you married our family, things have been falling apart!" Renata disparaged angrily.
Calista hurriedly held Renata as if to support her. She eyed Gillian with contempt before turning to Renata unhappily. "Mom, I told you my big brother is still a hot pick regardless. We should have arranged a contract marriage with one of the heiresses on par with our family, not uncouth and shameless people like her. Now, we keep having to clean up messes in just a few hours! So annoying!" She disparaged.
Countless contemptuous gazes fell on Gillian.
Gillian's body trembled, and tears pooled in her eyes. She bit her lower lip, her fist shaking.
Perhaps she shouldn't have made such a rash decision. After all, she ended up using the dress to get married to Augustus, but...
Last night had been so burdensome to her that she couldn't help but come to such decisions. Her lips parted to apologize...
Renata massaged her forehead with a sigh. "I thought getting married to those heiresses would have to keep us on our feet restlessly. After all, those wench and their family's eyes will be fixated on our Albrecht properties now that Augustus is like that."
They can even scheme until they find the company's documents and make Augustus sign them, or they could come up with a divorce just to get a hand on the Albrecht properties.
Renata suddenly exhaled tiredly. "Sigh! At least those will try to put us in the eyes, unlike someone. Butler Leo!" As soon as she completed her words, she snorted at Gillian in contempt.
"Yes." Butler Leo, a man in his fifties, hurriedly came forward.
Renata raised her chin and scowled angrily, "Take her to the hall; the windows, floor, and wall must be tidy clean—all today. No meals or sleep if she didn't complete her punishment. Since she dared to cause a mess for the family, she had to reflect on herself." She articulated fiercely and turned to leave, with Calista still supporting her.
"Yes, madam." Butler Leo hurriedly bowed and responded. Immediately, his pitiful gaze landed on the pale Gillian.
“What are you looking at?” Butler Leo rebutted and fired a harsh gaze at some of the peeping maids, and they all dispersed in fright.
He pointed at a guard and coldly ordered, "Take the young miss's belongings up..."
"Wait. I'll take it." The bodyguard, who had been awaiting Gillian's return, hurriedly interjected. He descended the stairs at a fast pace while panting loudly. The exercise wasn't enough to make him pant; it was just Augustus' matter. "I'll take it." He repeated anxiously.
Gillian's brows furrowed, and she took a step forward nervously. "Is anything wrong with the young master? Where's he?"
The bodyguard stared at Gillian as if he had just seen his savior. He bowed to her anxiously. "Young master coop himself inside the office brooding. The young master hasn't eaten either ever since the young master woke up and found out that young Miss Gillian went out."
Thank you all for your support. Love you
