ELSIE

Da just stares at us, his only movement is his eyes moving between the two of us. "Da?" He lets out a huge breath, it seems to go on forever, like he stopped breathing and now has to make up for it.

"We thought you were dead. How are you here? Why are you here?" He sits down heavily at the table, and I decide that I will leave them to it, while I finish off dinner.

I walked past Duncan as I tried to sneak away, but he grabbed my hand, "Well MR Hamilton, We have been building an army to come and take back our pack. I snuck in to get the lay of the land, and hid in your barn. Then I discovered Elsie was my mate, so now I am here."

He says everything so fast, hoping dad will pass over the mate comment. I released my hand and ran to the stove, popping the pie in the oven and then hid in the pantry, seeing what veggies we had, that I could add to our meal and stretch it to three rather than two.

I didn't hear any shouting, so I grabbed a cabbage and some carrots that Da must have picked today, and headed back to the kitchen.

Da and Duncan had moved into our small sitting room. I could hear the murmurs of their conversation, but couldn't make out any words. I am sure they will fill me in later.

I finished cooking our dinner and shared the pie between the two men and loaded my plate with vegetables and gravy. I had two meals today, so that would be plenty. Setting the plates on the table, I called them in.

Duncan pulled out my chair for me and I gave him a shy smile. Oh my days, he is so handsome, he makes my breath catch. "Elsie love, why do you have no pie?"

Da sighed, "Ma wane, you have to eat, here have some of mine." I glared at the two men, "I have eaten two full meals today at the big house, Da. You have another day on the farm tomorrow, and Duncan, you need to keep your strength up so you can get rid of that as.shole that sleeps in the Alpha's bed. Now eat before it gets cold"

While we ate, Duncan told us about the pack they had created, and the plans they had made. I felt the heat of his gaze on me as he spoke, and whenever I caught his eye, he would give me a cheeky grin, goddess, those eyes shall be the death of me, and his smile would send heat right to my lady parts.

Da keeps shooting me little smirks, so I guess he is not too unhappy about my mate. "you will have a lot of support here, very few people believed your uncles lies, and most of those that did have changed their minds. Your uncle is a cruel, perverted man, only interested in his own needs, but none goes against him out of fear."

Duncan stared down at the table, "I am sorry I didn't get here sooner, my people needed me." I grabbed his hand, "no, if you had come before you were ready then you would have been killed, all of his warriors carry silver knives, dipped in wolfsbane, and they are monsters. you must be ready before you come."

His thumb rubbed soothing circles on the back of my hand, tingles travelled up my arm, sending shivers down my back.Da cleared his throat, "so what is the plan, Young Alpha?"

Duncan sighed, "Well, myself, Harris and two warriors were supposed to sneak in and hide, get a lay of the land, make an up to date map, and see who is still loyal to our parents. Harris and the warriors had to retreat, so I am here alone. Harris will be coming to the edge of the territory tomorrow night, so I can tell him what I have found."

Da nodded, "so we need to find you somewhere to hide, and we can get you the information you need." Duncan shakes his head, "I will not put either of you in danger, especially Elsie, she is my Luna and I will not let anything happen to her."

Okay, now my lady bits are dripping. I really like that he wants to take care of me, and he called me his, but I am not weak. "Duncan, there is a lot that you don't know about my bloodline. Ella is a warrior wolf, and we will not be sitting out of a fight. We will be your eyes and ears in the pack, and we can make you a map of the territory."

Da chuckles, "Elsie is right, we are always in danger anyway. Anderson will punish and even kill on a whim. The sooner he is gone, the better. For now, Elsie, you will go and pack a bag. Make sure you take extra blankets and some food for the morning. We have the perfect place for young Duncan to lie low, and it is close enough to the border for him to mind-link Harris. You have the day off tomorrow, so stay with Duncan and explain who we are. I will bring extra food at midday."

I looked at him in shock, he wanted me to spend the night with Duncan. Was he out of his mind? Ella rolls over in my mind, her legs apart. "ohhhhh, yes please, our mate is delicious. We should defiantly take a bite or two, maybe let him take a bite of our pus...." I closed our link, horny wolf.

I turned to Duncan, his whole face was deep red, and he couldn't quite meet my eye. Oh sh.it, is he having dirty thoughts too? OH MY GODDESS, can he smell how wet I am? fu.ck.

I rushed from the room, packing two bags as quickly as I could. It gets cold up there, although I can light a fire if need be. I was about to grab some of Da's clothes, when Duncan came up behind me.

"I have some clothes, kitten, my bag is in the barn. I will go and get it now, so just grab your things and some blankets, your Da said it might get cold."

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak, he leaned down and kissed the top of my head, "I am so happy the goddess blessed me with you, I feel like we can do anything along as we are together."

My heart was pounding in my chest, as I span around and grabbed the back of his neck, pulling him down for my kiss. And Goddess, what a kiss it was. Fireworks were going off all around me.

Pulling back, he rested our foreheads together, "WOW." he pressed a kiss on my nose, and fled down the stairs. I heard the back door go and saw him run across the yard to the barn.

Wow is right. I finished packing and headed downstairs. Da pulled me in for a hug, whispering in my ear, "now you be good my Luna, now is not the time for pups." I flushed bright red. He grinned, "see you at noon tomorrow."

I turned to my mate, "it will be faster and safer to shift, we will be crossing open fields, but just keep close to me and we will be fine."

He squeezes my hand, "there is nowhere else I would rather be, kitten." My cheeks heat, and I walked to the side of the building and undressed, letting Ella come forward, I shift into her wolf form, and trot back to the kitchen, with my clothes in my mouth.

Duncan has already shifted into his massive Alpha Wolf. He is almost completely black, apart from a white boot on his front left paw. He nuzzles me with his snout, purring at me softly.

Dad ties the bags to our backs and gives us both a scratch behind the ears, "Stay safe pups." I take off across the fields, with Duncan right on my tail. I could feel Ella wanted to play with him, but I managed to reign her in. There would be time for that another day.

I saw the abandoned well and slowed down, scanning the area, and listening for any signs of life. Finding none, I slipped behind a tree and shifted back to my human form. I pulled out my clothes and got dressed.

When I came back into the open, I saw that Duncan had done the same. Picking up my bag, I walked towards the well. "Elsie? where are we going?" I smiled, "you'll see, have patience."

I found the hidden stone ladder and started my descent. "Duncan, be careful, it is so dark that even our eyesight is no use. I will wait at the bottom and let you know when you are down."

He turned around and I guided his foot to the first rung of the ladder, and then carried on down. The ladder takes us down about a hundred feet, and I wait at the bottom for him, tapping his shoulder when he reaches the bottom.

I grab his hand and enter the tunnel, feeling my way down the wall till I get to the lamps we keep here ready for us. Striking a match, I light the oil lamp and a soft glow lights up the high ceiling of the tunnel.

I passed Duncan the lamp and lit another for myself, "Follow me, I will explain when we have settled in." I watched as his face switched between wonder and shock as he took in the tunnel, and the alcoves filled with leather books.

"It's going to be a very long night, so let's get moving. I have a stash of coffee hidden down here, we just need to light a fire."
