Chapter 15: Snatching from One to Another

1629 Words
*WAVINA JAVIER* While everyone was trying to work normally after what happened, I did not realize I fell asleep at my desk. And I only woke up as my neck hurt and my arms got numbed. Right as I opened my eyes, I found a piece of paper posted on my forehead. I pulled it off and read the words written on it. The letter said, "We are going to have a meeting. It may take a long time. If you woke up. Just stay here and wait for me. I will take you home. Remember, Wait for me! MURPHY." "So this is from him!" I blurted, smiling while bringing the paper in my chest. "Why does he really want to take me home personally? Nevermind! But who would have thought, he has good penmanship." I checked the time on my computer and it said 06:02PM. No wonder no one was around except me.  My throat felt dry, so I stood up to get water for myself. But, I sat back as my head suddenly hurt and I was feeling dizzy and wanted to puke.  "It looks like I can't wait for him anymore." I mumbled, feeling disappointed because I had to go home by myself as always with an unwell body. I took a whole blank paper. I wrote a letter informing him that I can't wait for him and then sent it to his table. Afterwards, I grabbed my bag and slowly walked towards the door when suddenly, two long strong converging arms blocked horizontally at the doorway. My heart was like wanting to jump out from my chest as I screeched in surprise. Soon after, two young hunk with familiar faces exposed themselves in me. I seemed to have seen them always before but I couldn't just remember clearly.  "Miss Javier, where are you going?" One of them asked.  "Miss Javier, you can't leave the quarter. That is Supreme's order" The other one said. "Who is your Supreme?" I asked in bemused while rubbing my temple. The first one who spoke to me nudged the other one and then looked at each other mysteriously like they were talking using their minds. "Hey, what are the two of you staring at each other about?" I said as they didn't answer me.  The one who mentioned Supreme explained, "What I mean, Chairman ordered us not to let you leave. That's why we are here guarding you." "Why? Why can't I leave?" My head hurt more with the idea that I can't leave until Murphy came. I was fine with it but my body was longing to lie down on my own bed. Besides, I couldn't bother him that much especially now that I'm sick. "For your safety." Replied by the same man.  "What would be possibly going to happen to me? I am safe. But if you don't let me leave, I'm afraid I will collapse here." I said and then stoop on my stomach to puke. "Ms. Javier, what's wrong?"  Asked by the two of them in synchronise. "I'm sick. I need to rest at home." I propped my palm on the wall because my vision was spinning. "How long do you think I have to wait?"  "That-we don't have an idea." Said by the two of them.  "Then let me go home." I didn't wait for them to agree. As they were staring at each other again, I squeezed out myself between them. I was slender so it was not hard. "Miss Javier, you can't really leave. We were doomed if the Chairman is back and you're gone." Said by one of them while walking along with me.  "I really don't understand. I want to go home, why are you stopping me?" I said in an annoyed voice. "Don't you think you are going too far?"  As they were still following me, I stopped and faced them. "Hep? Don't follow me anymore. If you dare to take another step, I will really get mad." The two of them stopped and again talked with their minds. I was watching them, a minute after, they nodded to each other. They seemed to have agreed about something.  "Okay! You can leave." The one said. **** Oh God, those two had no idea how uncomfortable my body was. Thankfully, they finally let me leave. And as I was already in the tower's main door, I remembered their faces. I always saw them around wherever I was. So they were actually sent by Murphy to guard me.  'But why? Why is Murphy secretly guarding me? What for?' I asked my mind.  God seemed to pity me because right as I came out, a taxi instantly approached me. "Miss, are you going to take a ride?" The mid-40's driver asked while peeking his head on the car window.  "Yes." I replied and immediately opened the door myself.  "May I have your address Miss?" The man asked politely.  "253 Roque Street Block 4." **** Due to a headache, though my house wasn't that far I closed my eyes to take a short nap but I was woken up when the car was riding too fast and kept turning around which only added to the dizziness I felt. I was about to speak to order him to stop because I wanted to vomit badly when I heard him speak. He was not referring to me. Instead, he was talking to someone else on the phone using a wireless bluetooth earphone. "Yes sir. I got here. Okay. Okay. I will bring her to you later. Not now because it seemed someone was tailing us." My heart began to pound hard. 'Who was he referring to bring about? Could it be me? Why? Hope not.'  He stopped talking for a while. I assumed that someone in the line was giving him an instruction. And then, he added, "Yes sir. Don't worry. I can't spot them behind us anymore so I think I managed to make them lost. The girl? She is still sleeping……….okay.okay. I got it." Because of what I heard, as if I drank too many liters of vinegar because I felt like my entire body turned pale. Now, I confirmed that they were talking about me because there's no other passenger inside the taxi except me. Also as I checked around, I discovered that we were already far from the city. We were almost at the rural area where there were no houses near the roadside.  'But who was that sir the driver is talking with? What did he need from me?'  I blamed myself. If I listened to Murphy. If I wasn't being stubborn and impulsive, I wouldn't be here in this bad situation right now. It looked like Murphy doubted about this already.  The driver hasn't noticed me awake yet. So I slowly opened my bag and groped my phone to make a call only to realise that I don't have one. I lost my phone last time at the bar.  Though I was already sweating in anxiousness, I remained calm and pretended still asleep. Of course I was waiting for the opportunity to escape. But after a minute, what happened next made both of us terrified and shrieked when suddenly something heavy from the sky jumped down on the taxi's backside, causing the taxi's front wheels to rise up.  As I looked back, I saw a black big mammal with wings or something that instantly diminished under the taxi.  'It wasn't some kind of beast right, like in the movies?' I wasn't sure either, if what I saw was real or it was just my hallucinations. Later, a petite female figure in all black with a hood and mask clutched the taxi's rear side and hauled it back, causing the taxi to stop automatically.  I couldn't believe it! How could she do that? Like she was just stretching a rubber band in one hand. Suddenly, Murphy and Muwin appeared in my thoughts. This girl was like them. Unbelievably strong. Were they connected or something?  Right after, the mysterious girl walked around in haste motion on the driver's door. She aggressively opened it and grabbed the driver's collar who was trembling in fear and tossed him into the darkness. Along with his body, the driver's screaming voice disappeared like a thin air.  An idea of running away suddenly came into my mind. Though the girl saved me from the driver, the uneasy feeling became stronger with her presence. Making my skin chilled up. So I jerked out from the car and ran away as fast as I could, but the girl was way too fast. As I turned my head while running, the girl was already on air. It was not her swift movements or uncommon skills that shocked me. It was her human form that just instantly shifted into a big beast or precisely a sheep-size black dragon with a 7 meters long tail as she was about to hop on me. I stopped running. Faced her without diverting my eyes to anywhere and just waited for my death. I was tired of running anyway. While she, drawing her claws closer on me, a blurry fragment of memories emerged in my vision as if I was been in this event before and a familiar fear that had long been forgotten was triggered. Just like the fear I felt right now. The inexplicable fear of being in a merge of death. Though my heart was going to explode and my body was shaking, I had no thought to move. Just a few inches away, along with a wheezing sound of something that passed over my head and pounded on the black dragon in the air, and a creepy squeal of it, a pair of warm and big yet soft hands pulled me. One of his hands grasped my shoulder and the other one covered my eyes. After that, due to mixed emotions, fear, unwell body and tiredness. I didn't have time to know who just grabbed me because before long he hauled me at the side, everything went blank.
