LINDSEY’S POV Am I dreaming because this doesn’t make any sense? How comes, of all people, the person who chooses to love me is a guy that I have been crushing on for so long? “Do you have a crush on me?” I scoffed. “Of course I do Lindsey. I couldn’t even concentrate in today’s class because of you sitting next to me. I really like you,” By this time, his friends had already left us to talk. We were just the two of us. “Does this mean that the feeling is mutual?” I asked him and he was clueless. “What are you talking about?” He implored. “I have a crush on you too Jim,” I mumbled and he hugged me unexpectedly. “Perfect! Just perfect!” He was so happy as he held me tight to himself. “We don’t need to waste any more time,” He hushed. “What are you talking about?” I implored. “I am taking you on a date tomorrow,” He announced and I was very happy. As far as this seemed far-fetched, it was actually happening in my real life. I am forever grateful. All of a sudden, I felt beautiful. If the most handsome guy in my class tells me that he has a crush on me, then I am so beautiful to the extent that the rest of the men didn’t have the courage to approach me. This is how I concluded the why to them avoiding me. It took me less than 5minutes to find my happiness. In those five minutes, we exchanged phone numbers and it was official that I was going with Jim for a date tomorrow. That night, I didn’t have the appetite to eat. I was too excited to eat. I wondered how it would feel when I finally go for a first date with a guy. This is the happiest day of my life. Literally. ** THE NEXT DAY Jim kept staring at me the entire time till we got to the Acacia Premier Hotel. This was a five star hotel and I couldn’t wait to have a taste of their food because their Chefs are known for tantalizing delicacies. Jim parked his car at the VIP parking lot. He got out of the car first and thus he come over to my side to open the door for me. I felt honored, as if I was the president daughter when I got out of the car after he opened it for me. He was a typical gentleman. He snaked his hands around my waist and in tow, we walked to the hotel. We took he lift to the rooftop, where our dinner was reserved. With the help of the mirrors, I could see Jim’s eyes raking through my body hungrily. I had worn a black figure hugging dress that showed my curves. The off-shoulder dress left some cleavage and that is what his eyes feasted on. The waiter by the name Hellen led us to our table and waited patiently for our order. We were seated at the far end but being at the rooftop, we were able to see all through the entire Marble city and it literally made me feel like I am in the top of the world. “Pork chops, roasted potatoes and some salad,” I ordered my favorite meal. “What about you sir?” He turned to Jim who couldn’t even hide the factthat he was staring at me all that time. “Onion rings, Vegetable rice and battered chicken,” He gave his order and the waiter left to organize the meal for us. “Stop staring, will you,” I joked. I was not nervous as I thought I would. Last night, we texted each other for hours and I got to know him. Right now, it doesn’t even feel like our first date. Plus we had a chit chat in the car. All I can say is, I was comfortable around him. “How can I stop staring at the most beautiful girl in the planet?” He implored. I felt flattered by what he said and that made me more confident in my skin. Where was his man all that time? This is the question that lingers through my brain all the damn time. Hellen was so quick to serve us. First we were given some savory soup to lighten our test buds before we proceeded to at the main meal. Their food was on point and I wouldn’t trade this for anything else in the world. We started talking about random things. Our main meal was accompanied by red wine. I could see other ladies in the room staring at me and I knew they were happy for me. We were the only people in the room who seemed to be on a date. “So how old are you?” I asked him. “Twenty four,” He said sipping on his wine. “Okay, I thought you were around twenty one,” I was honest with him. “Why?” He implored. “Because you look somehow young.” I was telling the truth. “Stop flattering me. I look my age,” He giggled. He looked younger but let me not argue with that fact. “What about you Lindsey, how old are you?” He implored. “Twenty one, I will turn twenty two on the seventh of December” I mumbled. “You look younger,” He chuckled. “Stop kidding,” With a thick body, I know that I probably looked twenty five. Anyway, that is not the point. “Lindsey,” He called me after a short while and my eyes met his. He didn’t speak for a few seconds and I remained lost in his eyes. His eyes were like a doorway to his heart. The more I looked into them, I felt safe and home with him. He remained silent and I was getting uneasy. What was he thinking about? I swear, when you have a crush on someone, you really want to be aware of what is even lingering in their mind. You just have that strong undeniable urge to be there for them when they need you the most. I needed to know all about Jim, I needed to know everything. I needed to know that he was okay and most importantly, I needed to make him happy just like the way he makes me happy. As from yesterday, I have been happier than I have ever been throughout my entire life. “I know I should wait for some more time to say this, or maybe you know it already but Lindsey, I officially ask you to be my girlfriend. Ever since I saw you, on our admission day, my life has never been the same. It is always about you, no one else. I love you so much Lindsey. Please be my girlfriend,” He said this word by word. Everything he said made ripples in my heart. This is the best proposal ever. As if a man has ever proposed to me before. “Of course I will be your girlfriend.” I mumbled. He on the other hand is going to be my first boyfriend. “I like you,” He jested. “I like you too,” I couldn’t fight the undeniable attraction I felt towards him. Of course I was in love with him. “Let us talk about us, Okay baby,” He had already started calling me baby, and I loved it. “Tell me about your childhood,” He requested. “Well, I grew up in Edgewood. I didn’t have that much of a happy childhood. I really never loved it in Edgewood, that is why I studied so hard and I made it to Marble University,” I told him the entire truth. “Okay,” He nodded. “What about you, tell me more about yourself,” I asked him. “Well, I wanted to be like my dad. He is a lawyer but he stopped practicing sometime back. I joined Law School to replace him, I am joking. My dad has always been my role model and I wanted to be like him. That is why I ended up in Law School. I love it there and I look forward to start practicing it someday,” He gave a lengthy explanation and I was proud of him. “You will make your dad proud,” I told him. “I hope and pray so.” He wished. “Should we toss?” I asked him. “Of course,” He etched a smile permanently on his face. “To us, to more years of liking each other and to being this happy and peaceful,” We made our toss. We took pictures together and I was going to post them in my social media page. He was worth showing to the world. Jim is my first boyfriend. THIRD’S POV What Lindsey didn’t know is that Jim was a liar. He had some evil intentions and she should have said no to being his girlfriend.
