You're My Baby Daddy

Heaven or hell today! I clenched my oversized bag to my body waiting impatiently for the ginger-haired clerk to call my name as the next person to see Collins, but she just continuously chews on the pastel bubble gum like a callgirl in my street at 9 pm. If I was the boss here. I would never!- Employ someone like this. I don’t know what seems to be wrong with the Tyson empire and their staff, so mannerless and quisby. I know it’s none of my business though, rich people are so boorish. I didn’t want to stay another second on this seat. Everyone here looked so awkward, the lady beside me is wearing a roll-neck sweater, covering it with a black tuxedo and brown pants matching her sweater, carrying a file case torn at the tip. If she were here for an interview, she would get the job. Yes. As a janitor. I stand up and walked to the reception desk. “Can you inform him how important this is?” I asked politely, something I usually don’t do often. She looked at me from my hair to my toe and gave a fake laugh. “I don’t know why you’re here, but a lot is going on inside and you have to wait” she replied. “I’ve been here for two hours. Several people have left here in my presence!” there was just a little increase in my voice. “They had a more important schedule, ma’am.” Mutual voice volume. Mm. Tough crowd. “I HAVE A MORE IMPORTANT SCHEDULE! I’m carrying your boss baby!” I screamed in my lungs hitting my hands on the desk. I mean, don’t they understand? There are levels to this respect thing. I am carrying the heir to the Tyson Empire. My baby would take over a few months from now! Isn’t anyone excited? .The clerk step back at my aggressive hit and took another look at me, she was probably doubting me. Do I have to be heavily pregnant before I know I am? I’m 19 for crying out loud, I know when it happened. Well not really, I was drunk that night. I was too stubborn to accept a lot of dares and I kept drinking. Collins was my last dare that night and I woke up in his arms. Grrr. It is so annoying recalling that. I found out yesterday when I fainted at home. Mum had taken me to the hospital and Boom! “Ivory, you’re pregnant?!” my mum raised her pitch in front of the doctor. I bit my lips in guilt. After that night I feared something like this could happen, I was just waiting for it. “Collins Tyson” I replied to her when she asked for the father of the baby. She fainted too and I stayed beside her on the hospital bed. I repaid her motherly love. What makes everyone so perturb about the Tyson’s? I wasn’t scared of them. I have never been. “You don’t believe me?” I asked the clerk whose eyes grew looking at my belly. She nod negatively and I dropped my large bag on her desk. I went on my toe and pull out my slippers, she was already dialing security, she was too beautiful to have a black eye. I grabbed my bag and took to my heels holding my slippers under my arm as I made way for the conference room. I wasn’t going to beat her. I love ginger-haired girls. I just didn’t come here for her. “Hello! Ma’am!” screams followed me behind as they all ran after me. They all made me look like a thief. I’m not! I’m just here to see my baby daddy. Is that a crime? Y’all should stop running. Please! CONFERENCE ROOM displayed on the upper side of the door and I hurriedly barge in panting heavily. “Robbers are after me!” I screamed in the room and everyone jumped out of their seats, stepping on each other, finding an escape route. I burst out laughing. . People are damn scared of everything. “STOP” I heard Collins scream at top of his voice and there was a sudden silence. He was sitting beside his mum at a very high table with microphones. They were probably busy before I came in. I was told before though but I’m sorry I ruined it. “Ivory!” he called my name with surprise and anger. “Ha!” I laughed “Thank God you remember my name” I laughed hysterically again. Matters are getting solved little by little. He just called my name in front of everyone. “Cameras down!” The power in her voice sent me chills. It was Collins's mum ordering the press to stop their shutters. Why is she stopping me from being a celebrity? “It's fine. Cameras up. I have good news to share!” I responded immediately. Well, guess who they listened to. The press is one hell of a gossip. The securities and clerk running after me finally got to the conference meeting. They grab hold of me immediately. “Wait. Wait. I have something to say to the Tyson’s!” I continued shouting as they drag me out. The press moved from their seat ready to follow me with their cameras. “Leave her!” the same commanding tone, the securities left me immediately leaving my clothes all rumpled. Now Collins's mother would think I’m not presentable. I straighten the arms of my cloth and took my bag that had fallen already. I walked to where Collins and his mum were. It was a long walk so there were lots of lights and cameras on me. This is so dope. I walked in slo-mo to make it nicer, the last time I had this attention was prom night. Live the moment they say. I stood in front of Collins and his Mum smiling widely. They raise their brows furiously questioning my unasked presence. I roughly removed the mic in front of them. “Uckn.” I cleared my throat and the sound screeched. I turned to Collins. “I’m pregnant for you Collins Tyson” I announced. A gasp filled the air. Everyone starts murmuring. I turned to Collins and his mum. She seemed disappointed in her baby boy. Let him live freely ma’am, he was a big boy at college. “She’s lying!” Collins nervously chuckles. I guess his mummy stare sent him fear. He use to prove at school he was the paterfamilias, guess he was just an underdog. “I’m lying?” I move closer to his face, head to head, his nose looked bigger and the air coming from it blew his mustache like a dog’s own. Haha. I turned to look at the press and moved to a male cameraman whose company seemed to be popular in the city. “Collins and I had a one-night stand at our reunion one month ago. Yes! We went to the same school. What? Do you think I can’t afford a school like his? Ha-ha. You thought right. I was given a scholarship and Collins was very brutal to me” I moved closer to the camera and fake a tear. I mean, it has to be real. I should see myself on a magazine cover by tomorrow. Mum would be so proud of me. I grabbed a female reporter and rest my head on her boobs. Eiish. Soft, soft, soft. “How would you feel if you were in my situation?” I cried to her. Funny enough she grabbed my hair and rubbed them smoothly. Thank you ma’am for adding some spice to my act. “Nothing happened between us!” Collins raised his voice again. Fear was written all over him. I looked at him from a distance and click my tongue continuously. “How could you not know when we did it! We did it, Collins! We did. Your trouser was on the shelf the next morning and you had your mouth on my boobs and you…” “Ivory!” His Mum called my name. Did she just? So soon. And I didn’t have to get an appointment? All cameras turn to her. Oh, so I’m a spectator now? “My son Collins isn’t interested in girls like these. Girls who would make a scene just to be popular. But I accept what she is saying because my son told me about it. Right Collins? That’s how close my son and I are. He is only scared to admit it because of our standard in selecting a wife. But I’m so happy we have an heir to TYSON EMPIRE, Ivory we are going to accept the baby-“ “-no, no” I cut in immediately before the speech gets too long and I wouldn’t have a say in it. “I have a special request MRS EMPIRE” Ah! That name was funny! “My mum wants me to live with the father of my baby…that’s Collins, my baby daddy. It is very important for a pregnant woman like me” I grinned widely proudly claiming my condition. She gave me awful scorn and then widen her lip. “It is settled!” she confirmed with an unsatisfactory smile meeting my gaze directly. Guess I was still in a heaven or hell situation.
