CHAPTER 5 – Her health

Danian’s POV

She was lying on my bed. I brought her directly to my bedroom; she was the woman who deserved to sleep on my bed. Hunter was sleepless and looking for his mate to wake up, but the royal doctors said she would take a few days to recover. Her entire body was covered with deep cuts and bruises. I feared she might face the worst part of a woman’s life, losing her dignity to another man who doesn’t deserve her. She must be in captivity in the rogue dungeons for one or two days, but they did the worse with her.

She was a wolf, but why didn’t she heal fast? Did they make her drink Wolf’s Bane?

I asked the guards and the doctors not to speak with anyone about her. Before I announce to the external parties that I found my mate, I have a lot of unclear points to clarify her. Her sleeping figure with bruises was shattering my heart into pieces. On the other hand, my every single vein fills with rage when I remember how they were torturing her when I entered the dungeons.

When Hunter felt about her, we returned to the mansion, and I gathered the best warriors for this. As soon as the rain stopped, we left the estate. It was a bit hard to track her down because of the rain. Her smell was wiped away, but fortunately, a piece of her cloth was hanging on a tree branch. Hunter and the other warriors sniffed it, and everyone started to look for her. Finally, we end up in Rogue’s dungeon, where located underground.

I tear them limb by limb, and the bloodthirst Hunter did a victory howl when he bathed with the blood of the rogues. She was chained and suffered a lot; I don’t regret killing the rogues for her. I know I must answer the council, but I don’t mind. The only thing I wanted was to see her safe.

“Danian, brother…..so it’s true,” Nick barged again. I am sure he didn’t listen to the guards on my bedroom door.

“Nick, this is my bedroom. At least can you please knock before entering here?” I sighed and said. Nick was looking at my angel, who was unconsciously lying on the bed.

“Brother, you got a lady to your bed? Who is she? According to what I see, you might save her from something bad. Her bruises and her cuts scream that she is in hell. Tell me about it; I would love to listen” Nick pulled a chair and sat closer to me.

“Nick, there’s nothing to tell. I saved her, and she is getting treated by the doctors. That’s all for now,” I said, folding my arms onto my chest.

“She was not a normal girl, brother. Otherwise, you won’t allow a lady to sleep here or be treated by the royal doctors who only treat the king,” he said.

“Nick, I am not in a position to say anything. Please go before Selene….”

“Brother, who was she? Where is she? OMG, you allowed a woman to sleep in your bed?” before I finish my phrase, the other bomb dropped into my room. I guess the entire world knows that a woman was sleeping in my bed.

“So what’s the problem you all have? Can’t I bring a woman to my bed and allow her to sleep on it? Is it prohibited to do for the king? Why is it surprising to everyone that a woman sleeps in my bed?” I was furious and anxious about everyone coming to my room and looking at her. I want some time to spend with her alone.

“Just calm down, brother, we were too curious to know about the woman….”

“Stop calling her woman; she has a name, and she…..” I hit the break before I spill about her.

“Easy, brother, we wanted to know about her. We have never seen you with a woman; I mean a lady, before,” Nick said. Selena walked closer to her and looked at her carefully.

“Dear moon goddess, the poor soul must have had a hard time,” Selena said with a sad voice.

“Both of you leave now; it’s time to visit the doctor to check on her. Don’t tell anyone else about this. I will find out whom the hell spread the news,” I gritted my teeth and said.

“Brother, if you need a women’s hand to handle her, I will help you. Call me any time, and I’ll be there,” Selena said, and they both left the room.

I sighed and walked closer to her. A few machines were attached to her wrists and chest to check her pulse rate and pulse speed, and a bottle of saline was also attached to her wrist.

“Don’t worry, Danian; her wolf was getting better. She was trying to wake up soon, and as soon as she wakes up, our human mate will be cured soon” Hunter gave me a word of relief.

I know nothing about her, but still, it was a dream for me to have my mate. Everything happened quickly. I was in deep thought when someone knocked on the door.

“Yes, come in,” I said. Two doctors and a female nurse entered the bedroom.

“King, we are here to check about the lady. We need to change the wound dressings and the saline, too,” the doctor said.

“Who is going to change the wound dressings? I want her to be done,” I pointed at the female nurse.

“Of course, my king. She and my assistant doctor will do it” The assistant doctor was also a female. I could have changed her dressings, but it was not a polite way to deal with my mate. I didn’t want her to get a negative perception of me when she woke up.

“Please check on her doctor” I walked closer to the bed with the doctor. Hunter doesn’t like it when another male touches our mate, but I had to make him understand that if we need our mate to get fine soon, we need the best hands.

The doctor looked at the monitor, beeping near the bed, and looked at her with his narrowed forehead. I didn’t understand to read the monitor, but I understood that something was not right. He then kept the thermometer under her arm while checking her eyes. Then he slowly moved the duvet which covered her upper part and checked on the bruises and cuts. His face looked serious, he took the thermometer, and his expression changed quickly. He opened his medicine box and took two injections to give her.

“What is it, doctor?” I asked. I was curious to know it.

“You two, quickly do the dressing and nurse, change this saline” he removed his stethoscope and stood up from the bed.

“King, I beg your pardon, but I would appreciate it if you and the doctor could go outside so we can change her dressings,” the assistant doctor said politely.

“Let’s go outside, my king” The doctor and I came outside the bedroom and shut the door.

“King, her condition was getting serious. I think her wolf was not strong enough, or something terrible happened to them. Her wolf’s responses were weak. Most importantly, Her body temperature was dropping, and we needed to provide her warmth quickly,” the doctor said. I felt worried and nervous about her health.

“How do we get her wolf back quickly? What do you mean by warmth? Is there a way you know?” I asked.

“King, I don’t know the relationship between you and her, but the only method I know was to provide body heat. That’s the best method,” the doctor said. I started to think about what the doctor said.

“You mean that I have to sleep next to her?” I asked.

“Yes, King, if it’s not a problem to you or any person who you think suitable to provide the body warmth will be sufficient,” the doctor said.

“And also, it can bring her to wolf back; I mean, it will give a sense to her wolf that they are both safe,” the doctor said.

“I will find a way, doctor,” I said. The assistant doctor and the nurse came out.

“Doctor, we have dressed her wounds and settled a new saline bottle,” the nurse said.

“Let’s go then. I hope she will recover soon. Let’s see tomorrow whether we can see progress in her health,” the doctor said seriously.

I came back to the bedroom and sat on the bed near her. I gently took her palm and kept it between my palms. Then I suddenly realized what Selene had said previously. I quickly walked to Selene’s room.

“Selene, are you there?” I knocked on her bedroom door. It was silence; she was not there. I walked back to my bedroom and sat back on the bed. I took her palm and kept it between my palms again.

“Mate, I have no option. Otherwise, I won’t do this; if I don’t do this, you won’t be able to survive. I am sorry; I hope you will forgive me” I kissed the back of her cold palm. The doctor was right; her body was unusually hard.

I know I can’t touch her without permission, but the moon goddess will forgive me. I removed my clothes, and now I am in my boxers. I pulled the duvet covering her body. She was fully clothed; I took a scissor from my drawer to cut and remove her clothes carefully. She is now in her undergarments. There was not a single place where her body wasn’t carved with bruises and cuts.

I quickly slid under the comfy duvet and gently pulled her into my embrace. The sparks ran all over the body like waves. I kissed her forehead and was careful not to disturb her saline and the attached machines. Hunter was cuddling her too.

“You will feel better soon, my mate!” I wrapped my arms around her, hoping she would be better soon.
