-ROBIN-
The final class has ended. My backpack was slung over my shoulder in an instant, and I scrambled out of the classroom.
"Hi, Spark! Wait!" I had noticed someone calling for me, which prompted my legs to rush ahead.
Oh, no! There was no reason to turn around and check who it was.
Alicia.
The wench is in my Physics class, which astonished me since I had not seen her the day before. Believe me when I say she is a real pain in the ass. Her laser-like eyes had been digging a hole in my awareness for the entire time, provoking my inner wolf.
What exactly is her issue? I am uncertain of what she wants from me.
As I walked around the corner to the locker room, a displeased groan exited my throat.
"Robin, dude, are you in a hurry, man?" Greco inquired when he spotted me appear from the doorway. He was standing in front of his locker, shoving his books in. A typical laid-back expression tugged at his face.
Before responding, I breathed a long sigh of relief and ran my fingers through my hair. "It was just Alicia. There's nothing to worry about, man."
That was a lie.
I was f*****g queasy that the insane witch would attack me again, but I had to keep it to myself.
"Alicia?" His eyes widened and his ecstatic reaction increased when he heard the name. "You're doomed, buddy; she's not going to stop until she's got her paws on you!"
"Who's doomed, and who's gonna lay her paws on who?" someone interrupted our conversation. Aphro appeared behind us, giving us a look of bewilderment, while Czech, the man made of ice, had his eyes narrowed as he scowled at me.
A snicker got out of my mouth. 'Does he have a problem with me?' I was about to say something and bark at him when Greco intervened and answered Aphro's questions.
"It appears that Robin is Alicia's latest prey, bro. Although I don't blame the girl; if I were a she-wolf, I'd definitely jump on you," the blond behemoth stated, hooking his arm around my shoulder and chuckling. "You're such a handsome young boy, Robin; just accept the Moon Goddess' blessings, will you?"
When I observed Czech's eyes narrowing even further, I rolled my eyes and pushed Greco away from me.
"Thanks but no thanks. I am good at being single, man." I proceeded to my locker, put my belongings in, closed it, and went back to them. "See you tomorrow," I murmured, about to walk away, but Greco stopped me.
"We can offer you a lift. Which pack do you belong to?" he questioned.
"I'm from Spark Galore, and if it doesn't bother you guys, I'm good with the lift offer." I was not in the mood to wait for my mother to pick me up after running away from Alicia, so I accepted the invitation.
'Should I be disappointed with my decision?'
Greco is such an i***t. I assumed 'them' to give me a ride, but why am I in a Porsche Macan with his friend, who has a north pole-like mood swing?
Yes, I ended myself in Czech's car as he drove me home with his customary deep frown on his brow. 'Geez. It's not as if the lift was my idea!
Biting my bottom lip, I sank back in my seat, staring out the window. I have no plans to speak with him or strike up a discussion with him, and I am confident he felt the same way.
"A future Alpha should have at least one Epsilon to guard and protect him, don't you think?" His angry voice made me cringe and snap my head against him.
Is he talking to me?
My mouth curled up in surprise, but as his words sank in, a grimace formed on my visage. "What?"
Instead of responding, he merely shot me a quick but menacing glance that sent tremors up and down my backside.
‘What a scumbag!’ I subconsciously snickered. Returning my concentration to the opposite side, I resolved to ignore his presence until he spoke out again.
"Does it occur to you that being alone in and out of school attracts trouble?"
"And has it occurred to you that I am not some defenseless mutt? I can stand up for myself; thank you for your concern." Another thing I dislike is when others underestimate me. I may be a girl, but my strength rivals that of a male wolf.
"The life of a rogue is different from that of a wolf in a pack; sooner or later, Robin Spark, you'll be a willing target for the filthy hyenas," Czech remarked with a snicker. While his gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, I noticed his knuckles on the steering wheel growing white and his jaw clicking.
Is he serious? He's upset, right?
But, shouldn't it be me? Shouldn't I be outraged since he is subtly describing me as a weakling?
I don't need a bodyguard or an Epsilon. I am no longer a young blood, and I am well capable of protecting myself. I have been on the run for more than five years. I'm trained in how to fight!
My hands fisted, and words rushed out of my mouth before I realized it. "Take care of your 'own' affairs." The car came to a complete halt the moment I snapped. I nearly flew forward after forgetting to secure my seatbelt, but Czech caught me off guard by obscuring my upper body with his arm, preventing a collision between my face and the dashboard.
My eyes broadened, and I swallowed hard when I learned his elbow was directly in front of my small bumper. Oh, freaking s**t! My heart pounded violently inside my chest as I turned to face Czech. On the other hand, he shifted his cold gaze from ahead to me.
"Get out," he said as if shooing a fly out of his car.
I didn't have time to respond to his rudeness, so I swiftly opened the door on my side and slid out of his Porsche Macan. "Thank you for the lift," I murmured as I closed the door, and he sped away at full speed as if he were being pursued by thousands of hellhounds.
"Is that boy one of Prism's sons?" my mother inquired as she appeared behind me.
"Do you know who he is?" I asked back, still anxious about what had happened.
My mother's eyes shone as she exclaimed. "Of course, Son. He is one of Dark Prism's former Alpha sons. Wrecker, the eldest, received the title, and while that boy decided to be an Epsilon, he is still of alpha blood."
My lips twitched, and my left brow arched. 'The Alpha and the Epsilon, huh?' But that wasn't my primary issue at that moment because I was more concerned with 'Did he find out?'.
