Everything that just happened right then started replaying in his mind and he couldn't believe himself.
He actually did something so outrageous like that? It was simply unbelievable. Now that he had the time to pondered about it, he couldn't fathom where he got his bravery from.
Where the hell did he got the confidence to approach someone like Cris Yoon, much more offer himself to the popular, mysterious and dangerous man as him. Was he really that desperate?
Kelvin was aware that what he did was pure madness but… deep in his heart, he didn't regret it. And even though the man blatantly rejected him, it unexpectedly motivated him more.
He knew deep down, that Cris Yoon was the man he had been looking for. A heartless man who didn't fall for anyone.
He didn't know why but he believed him when he said he didn't do love and never would. Maybe it was because he could see the truth in his eyes. And could feel that the man had an icy heart that would never, ever melt.
But was it possible for him to fall in love with such a man? Kelvin wondered. Would it possible for him to even like a man who was so cold that he might even scare his poor heart away? He didn't know, but he wanted a taste of him even though he knew it might brought him pain. Besides, didn't they say that 'love builds up' and 'love is blind'?
At this point, he realizes that there was really no reason for him to be careful anymore. There was no point for him to be a coward, because he was going to die soon, right? If he wanted his wish to come true, he had to do it NOW.
This is his last chance. No turning back anymore...
…
When he arrived home, his family was waiting for him in their luxurious garden, talking and laughing.
They then had another pleasant and peaceful dinner before Kelvin finally went in his room.
After taking a shower, he lay in his bed. He had been thinking about that man all night, even when he was in the shower.
Strangely, he couldn't stop himself. Was it because he rejected him? The youngest son of Don Faustino, one of the wealthiest man in America. Probably not. No one knew what he really looks like anyway. Because he seldom went to parties and the like. So it's probably because of his ever so striking appearance? He thought about it. And suddenly heave a sigh. That probability was high.
Kelvin had seen videos and pictures of Cris in the internet but really, did they do something in his photo shoots, because how the hell they could hide how much better good looking he is in the flesh...
Sighing again, he then lifted the note that pleasant man in black jacket gave him and stared at it for a long while.
As he lay there, his eyes finally close. The next thing he knew the sun was already streaming through his windows.
He rose and did his usual routine; arranged his bed, eat breakfast, and after eating together, he got ready for work, kissed his family goodbye before driving back to the city.
After Kelvin graduated from college, instead of working to his father's business, he chooses to volunteered to work at the Happy Smile Orphanage.
His family founded that orphanage and he had become a part time volunteer since he was in college. His job was mainly assisting the teachers during class time. He was assigned to read books to the kids on the weekdays, except Fridays, and he loved what he was doing.
He had grown to care very much about the children and he treated them as an extension of his family. He was truly happy extending any help for as long as he was able.
It was Monday so the kids that hadn't seen Kelvin for three days were excited to see him. They embraced him one by one in the hallway as soon as they saw Kelvin came in.
"Brother Kel! We missed you." the youngest in the bunch, Betty, kissed him in the cheek.
"I missed you too, darling. Now, let's get inside. Your teacher is coming."
Kelvin assisted Mrs. Jane, the kids' teacher, the whole day. She read the story of "The little prince" this time and when the class was over, Kelvin headed to a coffee shop near the orphanage.
Kelvin sent Leslie, his best friend, a message last night that he wanted to talk to her about something so they planned to meet at this shop – their favorite meeting place since college.
"How are you? You were pretty drunk last night." Kelvin was looking at Leslie with a raised brow.
"Do I look that bad?"
"Yep."
"Don't lie, Kel. I made sure that my eye bags are perfectly covered!" she huffed and Kelvin could only chuckle. His friend Leslie was just from a normal family. He didn't really know why the two of them, who were worlds apart from each other had become the best of friends.
Leslie during college was definitely envied by many. She might have been from a poor family but she was very pretty, talented and have a lot of suitors. However, she was always alone at school.
Only boys who wanted to hit on her approached her and the ladies avoided her like the plague. When Kelvin began talking to her and they eventually became close, the students started calling him Leslie's sugar daddy. And he couldn't blame them.
He did look like a man who would pay a beautiful woman just to have a girlfriend. But Kelvin didn't really care. Leslie knew he's gay. And Kelvin knew that Leslie was a good person and she was his friend no matter what anyone says.
Back then, it was actually Leslie who was the one who keep getting angry every time people mocked Kelvin. She even insisted on dressing him up - god only knew how many times she had begged him - but Kelvin refused her again and again until the girl eventually gave up.
"So? What's the agenda? I'm really curious, you know? You calling me out like this is soooo rare." Leslie sipped on her drink as she looked at her friend with narrowed eyes.
Letting out a deep sigh, Kelvin pressed his lips tightly before he looked at his friend.
"I found a man." Kelvin said and Leslie suddenly choked. "Careful, Les!"
"Cough, cough… what did you say? Y-you? You found a man? You?!" Leslie looked like she just heard something so damn unbelievable.
"Calm down. Don't be too loud."
"Oh my god, Kel, how can I be calm right now?! You… my ever so innocent Kelvin finally found a man you like?!"
"Well, I still can't say if I like him but... he's the man I've been looking for and… he's the one I want."
