CH.16

(Hardin's pov)

I'm sitting there listening to elder Todd and I suddenly feel overcome with a huge burst of love and affection. I looked over and see Aspen just staring and smiling at me. it had to be coming from Aspen and our bond. I was called up to the podium with my father and we started the transfer. once the transfer was complete I greeted my pack as their Alpha and then we started on Aspen's Luna title transfer elder Todd handed me the pack colored sash to go around me and Aspen then he asked for our left hands and then he made a slit on our palms he held up the pack chalice and we pressed our palms together over the chalice and once the droplets of blood dripped into it everyone gasped I looked around to see what was going on but I couldn't see anything once the Luna transfer was complete we took the sash off and elder Todd reached for it but had a look on his face of confusion I asked him what was wrong and he said,

"Alpha Hardin when the blood dropped into the chalice, you and Luna Aspen had a glowing orb over your heads." I looked at him like he was crazy my mom and dad came up to me and said it was true.

I asked elder Todd if he had ever heard of this happening during a Luna ceremony and he said,

"no. I have to go meet with the other elders to see if they know anything about it." we went back to my office and elder Todd asked Aspen if her or her wolf had experienced anything strange like they run faster than most wolves or if she had thought she read someone's mind before.

she looked at elder Todd and told him she was only 18 and had just gained her wolf not too long ago he nodded and then said he would be leaving to go talk with the other elders and then he would be in touch. once he left Aspen asked me what was going on and I told her I honestly didn't know. everyone left my office except Annalynn and Jakob. Jakob and I were talking and the girls were sitting on the couch whispering and giggling.. it made me so happy to know Aspen and my sister get along so well and Annalynn looks up to Aspen even though Aspen hasn't been here long.

(Annalynn’s pov)

Aspen and I are sitting in my brother's office talking while he and Jakob are talking I whispered to Aspen about her and my brother making a perfect couple and she started giggling. Jakob and Hardin looked over at us and when I looked up at Jakob and caught his eye I swear I saw a flicker or stars or hearts I don't really know what it was but the look he gave me made my heart flutter. I turned back to Aspen and tried to play it off as if I didn't see him staring at me. I whispered to Aspen I needed to talk to her but I couldn't do it in my brother's office I asked her if we could go back to her room and talk and she said yes. we stood up and she told Hardin we were going to their room for girl talk. he nodded and said he would be done in about 30 mins. once we got into their room Aspen asked me what was going on I looked at her and said I know Hardin's suite is soundproof since no one can hear yall going at it she shook her head and said,

"Hardin and I haven't mated yet." I looked at her in shock and asked why she told me it was a long story but her traumatic past has put it on hold.

she then started blushing and said "we've done other things though." she then looked at me and said, "so what did you want to talk to me about in private?"

I told her I thought I may have found my mate but Hardin wasn't going to like it. she looked at me again and said "please goddess tell me it isn't Mikael." I looked at her like she was crazy and said sis trust me if it was that sh*thead I would kill myself before I ever accepted him.

she sighed in relief and I asked her why she acted like that when she thought it was Mikael she hesitated then said it was because of what he did to her. I knew something else was going on but I let it go for now. she asked me who it was I looked at the floor and thought to myself about the way Jakob looked at me.. as soon as I thought about Jakob Aspen said NO Way I looked up and said huh? she looked at me and said,

"no way Jakob?" I put my head down again she then asked me if I was sure I told her I wasn't for sure but pretty sure by the feeling I got when he looked at me.

Aspen put her hand on her hip and walked around the room saying hmmm. then she stopped and said, "don't worry about Hardin I'll take care of that."

she then said something that caught my attention. she asked me how I was able to sense Jakob as my mate when I'm still 2 years away from gaining my wolf. I said could feel it. I asked her how do I go about telling Jakob I know we are mates and she said,

"honestly I don't know Annalynn you have to remember my first time meeting your brother wasn't like it should have been." she told me to let her deal with Hardin and she would figure out a way for me to tell Jakob.

(Jakob's pov)

Hardin and I were trying to figure out what happened to him and Aspen when we heard Aspen and Annalynn giggling we looked over at them and Annalynn caught my attention I saw a flicker in her eyes and it made my heart skip a beat and then start racing. I knew then that Hardin was going to be pissed when he finds out that his little sister is my mate. I have to wait 2 years now because Annalynn isn't 18 yet. she is a beautiful young woman but I don't know if I can hold off on s*x for 2 years. I don't think I'm going to tell her just yet that we are mates. once the girls left the room Hardin looked at me and said,

"I don't know what it could have been man." we both stood there looking around like we were going to find the answer in his office.

Aspen and Annalynn walked past Hardin's office door and they both looked right at me. what the hell was that about? I thought to myself. Hardin was sitting at his desk with his head in his hands I could tell he was frustrated not being able to figure out what was going on but I needed to find Aspen and Annalynn to figure out why they were both looking at me like that. uh hey man I need to go take care of something link me if you find something out Hardin nodded his head and I took off to find Aspen and Annalynn. I heard Annalynn laughing and it sounded like they were in the sitting room by the front door. when I walked up to them I looked at Aspen and nodded and said Luna may I speak with Annalynn for a few minutes? she smiled and said,

"of course, you can I know the two of you have a lot to talk about." Annalynn looked at me and then back at Aspen like she was about to pass out.

I sat down across from her and she couldn't stop looking around. I looked at her and said Annalynn we need to talk she looked back at me and she swallowed hard. she said,

"I think I know what you want to talk about" and I just looked at her.

she said "I already know that we are mates Jakob." how? I asked. she said she somehow sensed it in Hardin's office and that is why her and Aspen left to talk.

I asked her how she sensed it when she is still underage and she said she didn't know all she knew was she looked into my eyes and saw something and she just had a feeling it was the sense of her mate. she told me she only had one concern with us being mates and that was and before she could get it out I said Hardin. she nodded I told her since we still have 2 years until we are technically mated we should get to know one another and as far as Hardin goes we will cross that path when the time comes. as we sat there talking out of the corner of my eye I saw Mikael trying to sneak into the packhouse I jumped up which startled Annalynn and rushed towards him. I let out a growl he turned his head and glared at me. I asked him what he thought he was doing inside the house after he was banned by the Alpha and the Luna from coming here. he chuckled and said,

"you think I give a s**t what that b**ch says?" I looked at him and said ok then what about what your Alpha says? he smirked and said, "Hardin is going to change his mind on banning me soon."

I could tell he was drunk but the way he said that and it had me cautious. I told him to leave and made sure he walked back out the door before I went back to Annalynn and told her I needed to go speak with Hardin.

(Hardin's pov)

I'm sitting in my office trying to think of what could have happened tonight when Jakob rushes into my office with Annalynn behind him. I looked up at them and could sense something was wrong I asked Jakob what was up and he said that Mikael had been in the packhouse and he made him leave but what had him rushing in my office was something he said. I asked what Mikael said to cause Jakob to worry and he said that when he brought up being banned from the packhouse to Mikael he smirked at him and said I'd change my mind soon and the tone he said it in is what made him worry. I mind-linked my parents and had Annalynn go get Aspen. once everyone was in my office I had Jakob tell everyone what was going on with Mikael. Aspen turned her head and looked at the ground. I asked her what was wrong and she said,

"nothing" but I felt like she was hiding something so I asked her again but using my Alpha tone and she started crying then said she knew something was going to happen but she didn't know what.

I asked how she knew something was going to happen and she put her head down again. I lifted her chin and told her to tell me so we can stop whatever it was from happening and she sighed then said to mind link Walker. I looked at her confused and said why do I need to involve him in this and she said that he knows some things about it. I mind-linked Walker and said to get to my office now and within 5 minutes he was knocking on the door. I told him to come in and close the door. he asked why he was called into a meeting and Aspen looked at him and said,

"Tell him what you told me." his eyes got big and he hung his head.

Aspen told me not to blow up on him because he is the one who spoke up on the matter even though he came to her and not me. I told Walker to speak and he sighed. he told us that he and Daphanie had been sleeping together and she came to him with a plan to get rid of Aspen he said that she wanted to get rid of Aspen because Hardin was her mate and that Aspen was his chosen mate because he didn't want Daphanie to be his mate. at the time he believed her but he said after seeing me and Aspen together it was clear that was not the case and that is why he chose to come clean with Aspen about Daphanie planning to get rid of her. I asked him what she had planned and he said all he knew was that it involved Annalynn and Aspen's brother and something about their mates. Annalynn looked at me and so did Aspen. I asked why they were looking at me and Aspen spoke first she told me she saw her brother run off into the woods after their family dinner and when she followed him she was disgusted with the sight she saw. she said she saw Dayton making out with Daphanie. I looked at my sister and asked her what she was looking at me for and she put her head down then looked over at Aspen. Aspen stepped in between me and Jakob and said,

"my love your sister has found her mate" my mom ran and hugged my sister but I could tell by the way Anna was looking at me that I was not going to like who it was.

I asked who and Annalynn put her head down Aspen grabbed my hand and said,

"it's someone you trust with your life" and as soon as she said that Jakob stepped back and it hit me as to who she was talking about.

I tried to push past Aspen to get to Jakob but Aspen stood her ground and refused to move. my dad stood in front of Jakob and looked at me and said,

"son who would you rather your sister be mated to someone who has always had your back or someone you can't trust or someone outside our pack where your sister would have to move?"

I asked Annalynn how she knew it was Jakob and how did she know this wasn't just some trick for him to get laid. she said it was when he looked at her she could sense it and Jakob then spoke to me and said he could sense it and his wolf Malachi was telling him that Annalynn was his mate. I sighed and stopped trying to push past my Luna and went to my desk and sat down. I told Jakob I was happy he had found his mate but I was pissed that it was my baby sister. he swore to me he wouldn't hurt her and said that they had already talked about it and decided to be friends and get to know one another before they announce they are mates. I nodded and said I wouldn't kill him. I also put rules down since my sister was only 16, I made it clear that there would be no s*x until she turned 18 I also told them that since they were mates they would be seen together holding hands and what not just so other she-wolves knew to back off and same for other males. they both agreed and then I got back to the matter at hand Daphanie. I asked Walker what his part in all this was and he said he was supposed to bring Aspen to our suite once Daphanie had me alone trying to get me to kiss her so Aspen would see it and leave and if that didn't work she was going to get my sister and Aspen's brother involved. now we have something to go off of when we plan on taking her down with whoever else she has working with her. we decided to go ahead and come up with a plan to catch Daphanie so Aspen and our siblings don't get hurt. Walker was even part of our plan to catch her he was to keep pretending to be in it with her and keep us updated as to what was going on. Jakob and Annalynn were to hold off on the public affection and only hangout and talk in my office or our suite that way they wouldn't be seen by Mikael or Daphanie. as for my parents, they were to pretend to second guess mine and Aspen's bond as if they didn't believe it and me and Aspen were going to put on a show for Daphanie when she was around.
