CH.2

(Aspen's pov)

Trini and I are almost ready. Wyatt is in the living room waiting on us. I am done before Trini and when I walk out of the bedroom, Wyatt pulls me into the front door entrance and tells me that he is going to tell Trini tonight, that they are mates. He said he can't wait any longer even though she will find out tomorrow. I give him a small smile and he notices and asks what's wrong. I said I was happy he was finally going to tell Trini but I also admitted I was kind of jealous. Wyatt asked why I was kind of jealous and I told him I had a feeling tonight wasn't going to be my night. I told him that I had met a lot of the guys who were coming tonight and none of them were attractive to me in any way.

He chuckled and said, "Squirt listen, just because you didn't find them attractive before you turned 18, doesn't mean that one of them won't turn out to be your mate." He said he didn't find Trini attractive like he does now until he turned 18 and gained his wolf Jet. Then he looked at me and asked, "has your wolf even made herself known yet?"

I shook my head. I was starting to get worried since it was getting late and I still hadn't heard from her. I'm curious to know what her name is and what she looks like. After another 5 mins had passed, Trini finally came out of the bedroom. Wyatt tensed up and I noticed his eyes turn black. He then turned to face the wall and said,

"You both look very beautiful and whoever your mates turn out to be will be the luckiest guys on earth."

When he turned back around, the blue had come back into his eyes and he was smiling. Trini told him to do a spin so she could get a good look at our bestie in his suit and when he finished spinning she whistled and said,

"Holy sh*t Wyatt that suit looks good on you."

He replied with a shy "thank you" and held out his arms for us young ladies to hold as he walked us to the event hall where the party/ball was going to take place. When I walked into the event hall, Alpha Charlie was standing there with my parents. They all turned and Alpha Charlie smiled and said,

"Look at this good-looking group of youngins coming in."

My mom walks over and hugs us then Alpha Charlie takes my hand and says,

"Happy Birthday Miss Aspen. That dress was meant to be yours."

I had picked out a baby blue ball gown but I had it altered to where it was a little poofy at the bottom but not like a princess ball gown. We walk into the hall and I'm amazed at how beautiful all the decorations are. The decorations for my party didn't clash at all with the ball decorations. I look at my phone to check the time and see that we only have about 30 mins until guests start to arrive. I walk around to check out all the food to make sure all of the food is correct and everything is set up. I go into the restroom to take a breath and try to calm my nerves before all of the guys start showing up.

(Hardin's pov)

I'm still in my little world as we pull up to the front gate of the Blood-orange pack and Jakob smacks my arm to get me to snap out of it. Once I realize we are entering the gate, I'm feeling a little nervous. I've met a lot of these girls from neighboring packs but none of them did it for me. A lot of them are pretty but none of them had me drawn to them in any way. As we drive through their packland, I look around and take in the sight of the mountains and the huge lake that has an island in the middle of it with a small cabin on it. As we pass the packhouse, I'm in shock at how big Alpha Charlie's packhouse really is. It looks like 2 castles put together. I look behind us and see several cars following and my nerves take over again. What the f*ck is wrong with me? Why am I so damn nervous? I'm an Alpha, I shouldn't be nervous like this. I try to keep my cool in front of my friends so they don't start talking crap about me. As we pull into the event hall I take a deep breath and get out of the SUV, the guys are already checking out girls who are walking in the building and talking about which girl was bangable. I shake my head and tell them they are all man whores and they just laugh. Mikael says,

"Once you f*ck for the first time, you'll end up just like us."

I shake my head and walk up the stairs to the event hall. As I'm entering the doors, I smell a faint intoxicating smell but I just think it's some she-wolves perfume or body spray and I enter the main room. I look around and I'm surprised at how many girls and guys are already here. The guys and I decide to split up and walk around. As I am walking around, I spot the Alphas son Wyatt. I see he is with a very pretty brown-haired girl and I decide to walk over to say hi. Hey Wyatt, how's it going man I ask. He looks up and says,

"Hey, Hardin. Not much man, how's it going with you and green moon pack?"

I'm good man. Getting ready to take my dad's place in the next 2 weeks and green moon is doing good. We've come up to 320 pack members. We talk for a few minutes, then I start to smell that smell again but it's a little stronger. I lean into Wyatt and his friend to see if it's coming from one of them and I smell it on Wyatt. He looks at me like I'm crazy, then asks what I'm doing sniffing his arm. I explain that I kept smelling an intoxicating smell and it was driving me crazy not being able to figure out where it was coming from. When I finished he looked at me and said,

"Dude that's not me you smell, that must be my friend Aspen."

Aspen? I ask. He looks around the crowded room to see if he can point her out but he can't seem to find her. He whispers something to the female he is with and she walks off in the direction of the restrooms. When she is out of sight, he looks at me and says,

"That was Trinity. She is my mate but she doesn't know yet. Her 18th is tomorrow but I plan on telling her tonight that we are mates."

I tell Wyatt I'm happy he found his mate and say I'm not too hopeful that I'll find mine tonight. He looks at me and says,

"Just curious but what is the smell you are smelling?"

I told him it's like a cinnamon apple and he raises his brow and says "hmmm." I ask him what he is hmmming for and he says,

"I smell all kinds of different body sprays and perfumes tonight. It must be all the different smells and that's why I don't smell it."

His mate still hasn't come back and I decide to go see how big the event hall was and look at all the different artwork and statues throughout this place.
