Chapter 11Alex was still dozing when Luke eased the door to the cottage carefully open. He’d been up and about at least once though…there were the remains of some toast on the coffee table in front of the sofa. He stirred as Luke shut the door quietly and put the shopping bags down on the kitchen table. “Luke?” he said. “What time is it?” “Yeah, hi,” Luke said, still feeling self-conscious after his conversation with Lacey. He didn’t like to feel he was that obvious. Obvious was Alex’s MO, not his. He looked at his watch. “Just before three,” he said. “Have you been asleep all day?” “More or less,” said Alex, watching Luke sleepily from under the blanket as he threw things haphazardly into the fridge. “How did it go?” “Bit s**t,” said Luke. “Martin wrote out a statement. He actually
