Chapter 9Ben arrived an hour after Martin had left. He was late, but then, Luke would probably have been late in his position. He rang Lacey, to give her the heads up.
“I need to come down,” she said. It wasn’t a question.
“Yes, you probably do,” he said. “It needs to be all tied up tightly. Can we get Charlie Morgan down as well? Or someone from the board, at least? If we’re going full-on official?”
“I’ll ring him,” she said. “You should have let me know yesterday, Luke.” She’d been off in the afternoon.
“Yeah, I know, I’m sorry. I was too worried about Alex…he didn’t have anyone to stay with him and I ended up kipping there overnight.”
“What, they let him out of hospital?” she said.
“He did a runner, more or less,” Luke told her. “Refused to stay in.”
