The car ride is silent yet comfortable. When Asher threatened to kill Reece, I pulled him up to my bedroom and went to take a shower.
Alone.
Reece didn't take that too well. He demanded to at least be in the room with me. I declined and slammed the door in his pouting face.
Afterward, he led me to the car and headed into town. On the way there he grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers, and I look at him. He's staring straight ahead, oblivious to my stare. I sigh and turn to gaze out the window.
Once in town, Reece drives to the park and stops, turning off the ignition. He turns toward me and smiles softly before looking down.
"I'm sorry I put us through this. You didn't deserve the way I spoke to you or anything over these past few weeks. It is not fair to you or our babies," Reece says quietly, still not looking at me.
"Thank you, but are you going to tell me what this big secret is?"
"Yes...the week we met, Alpha Phoenix's mate was kidnapped," he admits, but I don't understand.
"Who's Alpha Phoenix?"
"An Alpha from a neighboring pack. We're close friends. Anyway, his mate, Marley, was kidnapped by rogues. The day you left Phoenix found her. She was beaten and raped repeatedly. He didn't take it well, as expected. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry or try something that could get you hurt," he says, sounding pained.
Now it all makes sense. "Why didn't you tell me this in the first place? I would've understood," I tell him. "Can you...uhm...answer one more thing for me?"
He agrees and I am finally able to approach what has been nagging at me. "Why did you kiss Angelique?"
"What?" He asks, his tone is choked and his face is pale.
Shit.
"I went to the pack house to talk to you about our current relationship situation and saw you two kissing somewhat passionately," I reply.
"No, baby. It wasn't even like that. I had told her to leave my office and she kissed me. I didn't hear you come in or anything. She must have heard you and thought to see that would break you. I wondered why I caught some of your scent when I walked out afterwards."
I feel the tension wash away and let out a breath of relief. "It's okay. I just didn't know what to think. I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt me and I should've trusted you--"
"November," Reece cuts me off before bringing me over into his seat, making me straddle him.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, baby," he says before crushing his lips to mine. I pull back when things start to get heated. "Wait. We can't have s*x here in the park."
Reece pouts. "Why not? I want and need you so badly. You have no idea what two and a half days without touching you is like for a man like me," he says and I giggle.
I think for a second. "Okay, but if we get caught I'm blaming you." Reece laughs and cups my cheeks, leaning in to kiss me again. A minute later, our clothes are gone and Reece's hand is between my legs, two fingers inside me and one on my clit. His fingers find that perfect spot and thrust in and out. I cry out and he growls against my lips.
"So f*****g beautiful, baby."
"Reece!" I moan when his fingers get faster. I grind down on his hand, seeking release. I need him to take the ache away.
"You gonna come for me?"
"Please, Reece."
I can feel my orgasm approaching quickly. Reece's finger brushes my clit and I come. He removes his fingers and lifts me, sitting me on his c**k. I moan loudly at the fullness and he grunts. He bends his head to suck on my mark and I shudder. I lift my hips and slam back down on him. I start riding him and Reece has his hands on my hips, encouraging me with squeezes. He's so deep inside me and feels so good.
Reece soon starts to thrust up into me and I cry his name, making him growl.
"f**k. You feel so beautiful, baby," he says and I come for the second time, screaming loudly. He thrusts harder and faster. When I can't take the intense orgasms anymore, he finds his own climax.
"So gorgeous. No one gets this, but me," he groans.
"Yes," I whimper.
"Tell me, November."
"No one gets this, but you, Reece."
"You're mine," he growls, his voice husky and deep.
When the high is gone, I snuggle into Reece's chest, catching my breath and running my fingers along his chest. He dresses me and himself before starting the car and heading home.
At home, he cleans me up in the shower and puts me to bed. I lay with him and find myself smiling. I fall asleep, happy things are going back to normal.

I wake up to someone kissing my neck. Opening my eyes, I see Reece above me. He's shirtless in nothing but a pair of briefs. I smile up at him when he kisses my nose and says, "Good morning, pumpkin."
"Good morning," I say before snoozing again. Reece laughs.
"Baby, you gotta get up. You have a doctor's appointment today," he reminds me. I groan and get out of bed. Reece follows and picks me up, carrying me to the shower.
At the doctor's office, we sit in the waiting room. After about ten minutes of sitting around, the nurse calls my name. She leads us to a room and tells us the doctor should be in shortly.
When Dr. Fisher walks in, he greets us before getting ready to perform the ultrasound. He has me lift my shirt and applies the gel after I do so. He does something on the monitor for a second before showing us our pups.
"There they are. Strong heartbeats and developing well. Would you like to know the sexes?" He points to our babies. They are so much bigger now. I can see their little feet and hands.
"Yes," Reece and I answer at the same time. I giggle.
"You're having a boy and a girl. Congratulations. You can get dressed again. The next time I see you will be in the delivery room."
I clean up and Reece helps me off the table. We get our pictures of the babies at the front desk and head home after getting lunch at a café in town. I dress in sweatpants and take a nap while Reece does his work.
A few hours later, Reece wakes me up and we talk about the babies. Once we get to the boy's name, we still can't decide what to name him. We finally agree on naming our son Maddox and our little girl, Jasmine. When night hits, we get ready for bed and I snuggle up next to Reece.
Before I fall asleep, I think about what would have happened if I didn't move to Colorado. I wouldn't have been given my wonderful mate and babies. I think about my brother and frown. Hopefully, Nash will come to his senses and accept his mate. He is still trying to grow enough balls to ask her out.
He deserves to be happy.
They both do.

I'm chopping potatoes at the kitchen island when the phone starts to ring. Travis is in town and has decided to stay for dinner this evening, along with Nash, Mom, Dad, and Reece's parents. I will be cooking my famous pork chops with green beans and mashed potatoes. Afterward, for dessert, there will be apple pie and ice cream.
Yum.
I come back from my thoughts when Reece calls my name. I turn around too fast and my hip smacks the counter. Instantly, a sharp wave of pain shoots through my stomach and right hipbone. I drop the knife in my hand as I clutch my side, crying out in pain. Reece is immediately at my side. I look up at him through blurry eyes as tears form in them.
"Baby? What's wrong? Are you okay?"
I know he can feel the pain, so I let him remove my hands. I look down as he raises my shirt to see a huge purple and blue bruise that spans from my hip to the middle of my stomach. His fingertips brush against the bruise and I wince. Reece looks up at me and his eyes are wide.
"Are you okay?" He asks again.
I shake my head. "No, I don't think so. It hurts, Reece," I whimper.
"I'll get you some ice. You should heal quickly with the babies and your alpha blood. You'll be okay, baby."
He's back a minute later with a small bag of ice. After applying it to my hip, Reece picks me up and carries me to the living room where he lays me down on the couch.
"I'll be right back. I'm going to call Dr. Fisher."
Reece comes back a few minutes later with a pale face and terrified eyes. He lifts me into his arms and heads toward the front door.
"Reece. What is going on? What did the doctor say?" I ask, but he doesn't answer. He just picks up his pace. The next thing I know, I'm sitting in a hospital bed with Reece holding my hand tightly with tears in his eyes. He won't tell me what the doctor said or why we are here. He is starting to scare me and I don't know what to do to help him. He even called our families and canceled dinner tonight.
"Reece. Will you please tell me what is going on?"
His eyes move to me and his bottom lip starts to quiver. I reach toward him to wipe the tears that have overflowed away.
"I love you so much, and I'm so sorry this is happening. I also want you to know that I will always be here. Whatever happens today."
"What are you talking about?"
"The doctor will be here any second," he says, changing the subject. I groan and lean my head back against the pillows. He's so damn stubborn. About five minutes later, Dr. Fisher strolls in with a worried expression.
What the hell is going on?
"When did you hit your hip, November?" Dr. Fisher asks. He is now starting the ultrasound machine and spreading the lubricant onto my stomach. The bruise has mostly vanished except for a small purple line along the bottom of my stomach on the right side.
I open my mouth to speak, but Reece beats me to it. "Eleven minutes ago."
"Good, good. The majority of the contusion to her hip bone has healed, but we still need to examine the rest of the contusion on her stomach," he explains.
"Are our pups okay?" Reece asks urgently and understanding dawns. That's why he's been sitting here worrying. I'm such a bad mother. I didn't even think about our pups. Reece's words from earlier finally make sense. I grip his hand and he looks at me. He mouths I'm sorry and the tears well in my eyes.
I can't lose my babies.
"Both pups are healthy. No distress or anything. Everything looks fine."
At his words, the tears run down my cheeks and I let out a rush of breath in relief. Reece tilts my face towards his and kisses my nose and lips. He kisses away my tears and I wipe away his.
"Thank you so much," he tells me.
"What are you thanking me for?" I ask him, confused.
"For being so strong and taking care of our pups," he explains and kisses me softly.
Dr. Fisher's voice breaks through our moment. "I want you on bed rest until you go into labor. Just to be safe. We can't take any chances this far into your pregnancy," he says.
Great. Just great.
