But before I could snap out of my shock, he pulled me onto his lap.
“No, put me down!” I squealed, my voice quivering with fear.
"Why do you always have to test my patience, my little petal," he whispered, his fingers threading into my hair as he tugged slightly tilting my head. "Do you know what a naughty girl like you deserves?"
I didn't reply, but only stared at him with fury, my chest rising and falling heavily.
He smirked softly, his thumb gently playing with my lips as he breathed out, "God, how badly I want to spank you so hard and make your bottom so red that you would never try to get yourself into trouble again."
I gasped upon hearing him, attempting to pull away from his arms, but he tightened his grip around me and on my hair, refusing to let go.
"You... you can't be serious?" I mumbled, my eyes wide and my breath hitching.
He leaned in closer, his voice low and intense as he whispered, "Oh, baby! I am very serious."
"Huh!" I was dumbfounded. "You can't do this to me."
"Are you challenging me?" he asked with a feral look in his eyes, causing me to flinch back. He huffed out a chuckle, slipping his fingers to the back of my nape.
His face inched closer, his full, red lips parting, his hooded eyes never leaving my mouth.
'Okay, baby, you can kiss me in the morning.'
His words from last night echoed in my head.
Was he going to kiss me?!
But I wasn't in my right senses last night, and now I was fully aware of him being a heartless womanizer. Panicking, I quickly placed a trembling hand over his eager mouth, stopping him from kissing me.
"Stop it, Vin," I whispered. "Don't pretend everything is normal between us."
He stared at me for a long moment before exhaling heavily, taking my hand in his, and bringing it to his lips, where he kissed the back of my palm. I shivered involuntarily under the touch of his soft and warm lips.
"Everything is normal, petal," he said sternly, his gaze unwavering. “Everything is fine when you are with me.”
"No, it is not," I snapped, attempting to free myself from his grasp. "The world doesn't revolve around you, Vincenzo Leonardi and my world is very different from yours."
His grip tightened as he stared back at me seriously. I met his angry glare and watched as his jaw clenched.
"Let me go, Vin," I demanded, my eyes welling up with tears as his grip tightened painfully.
"Stop running away like you always do," he whispered menacingly.
“You can't keep me forcefully,” I shot back, and he frowned.
“You don't know what I am capable of doing, petal. But you should remember one thing: I will never hurt you,” he whispered in his cold voice.
“But you're hurting me NOW!” I countered fiercely as tears spilled from my eyes.
He cursed under his breath as he loosened his grip, allowing me to hastily get up from his lap. But as I made to walk away, he seized my wrist.
“I am only giving you space and time, not permitting you to run away from me again,” he declared, the possessiveness in his voice sending a shiver down my spine. “Understand this, baby,” he added before tenderly kissing my knuckles and releasing my hand. I touched my hand, still tingling from the warmth of his lips, and hurried toward the bathroom.
"Petal, I've arranged fresh clothes for you," he informed in his cold voice before I closed the bathroom door. "Get ready. I will drop you at your apartment, and then we will go to the City Hospital together."
What was he trying to do? Did he want to make us public?
“You don't need to bother, Vin,” I shook my head, glancing at him over my shoulder.
He exhaled loudly, seemingly concealing his frustration.
“You're coming with me, petal” he declared authoritatively before adding, “Get ready and come to the breakfast table,” instructing me before leaving the room.
Huffing with annoyance, I closed the door. He could be insufferable at times. Glancing around, I scanned the bathroom, which exuded elegance. He had impeccable taste.
Approaching the sink, I opened a drawer and discovered a new toothbrush, my favorite face wash, shampoo, and body wash. He still remembered?!
Gathering everything, I stepped under the shower panel. After a refreshing shower and draping a fluffy bathrobe around me, I emerged. The bathrobe was oversized, enveloping me to my toes and concealing my hands within the sleeves.
Upon exiting, I spotted a hairdryer on the vanity table. On the bed lay pink lace lingerie, a pair of denim jeans and a white shirt. I picked them up and tried them on. Surprisingly, they were a perfect fit, all in my size.
I swiftly dried my hair and applied body lotion. Spotting my handbag and phone on the table, I retrieved my makeup pouch, which I usually kept for quick touch-ups on the go. Applying light makeup, I got ready for work.
Stepping out of the bedroom, I found Vin already seated at the breakfast table. As I entered the dining hall, he swept his gaze in my direction. His eyes held admiration, looking at me with want and raw desire.
My heart fluttered, and I struggled to recognize the man before me because he was completely different from the man I knew.
This man was…
Dangerous and mysterious.
