Her grey eyes squinted as the harsh rays of the sun hit her. It didn't stop her from opening the curtains of the carriage and looking outside and staring at the people as the went ahead with their usual lives. She couldn't help but think what would be their reaction if they knew why she came to their city. A sigh escaped her lips, she had been looking forward to her vacation at the Fae's land. 'They always give the best services' she thought. After what seemed like an hour, the carriage finally came to a stop, they had passed by lots of beautiful and large buildings on their way here, the Centaurs always had a way to make everywhere they took over look magnificent. Not a lot of people would believe how much of a dump this city used to be before those half horses decided to colonise. The place the carriage stopped was at the entrance of a large bar, supposedly the most famous in Zachary's City. "Detective! we've arrived!" The coachman in front of the carriage informed her, with a grunt she made her way out of the carriage, her uniform catching attention, the dark green leather long sleeved coat reached her ankles and had a golden crest on the left breast pocket. She knew why they were staring, a smile graced her lips as she made her way to the door, she turned around and looked at the man who rode the carriage "I might take a bit longer, Zachary's City is a big place, you can go have fun but be back before sundown" The man smiled, he stroked his grey beard wanting to say something before deciding against it, looking at the young woman who he watched grow he couldn't help the feeling of pride that welled up inside of him "Yes, Ms. McCall" he replied, with a swing of his hand the carriage moved forward leaving the girl behind. She stared at the door handle, reaching her hand into her coat pocket, she brought out a white doctor's mask to protect her nose as she stepped into the restaurant. The stench was horribly pungent, she could still smell it through the mask but she knew if she took it off, it would be worse. She saw the other policemen pacing up and down, sketching and taking notes on their notepads, studying the dead body on top of the counter. The body had been discovered only after four days which explains the stench. The man who was busy examining the body with a grim expression noticed her standing there and frowned, she looked like a little girl with a mask on. "No kids allowed little girl!.....Get out of my crime scene!" He said using his huge form to his advantage. His voice was very deep and made everyone around him feel intimidated, the golden crest on his left breast pocket signified he was a policeman, policemen were well feared and respected in these parts especially if they're centaurs, their heights and strength always made people feel intimidated....most of them abuse their power too much, collecting bribes daily making corruption quite a norm here. "Detective Change McCall, Genesis City. I've been sent here by the main department to investigate. So technically, this is my crime scene" Genesis City was the capital and the main department for every single police department. Any orders or person sent from the main city would be well respected and taken seriously. Change smiled watching the man's expression change "I...ahem!, You're welcome to our city Miss....." "Change, Detective Change" she fought the smile that was threatening to show on her lips. She always loved people's reaction when the heard her name. The man nodded and stretched out his hand " I heard they were sending a detective, I just didn't think it would be a...." he looked at her from head to toe. A cold smile appeared on her lips realizing what he meant "A woman?" she raised her eyebrow, the man's face was tinted with a shade of red, women only recently started getting same rights as men and he for one never supported it when the government decided to support women to that extent but now, under the gaze of this woman he felt quite....frightened. Her eyes alone were enough for him to tell that she wasn't just a simple detective, he couldn't tell if she was angry or she was just teasing.....'definitely angry!' he thought. "I am the Detective put in charge of this case, my name is--" "Jack Welder....its written on your badge" Jack's eyes widened as he stared at the badge with he was sure was in his pocket minutes ago. He had been in this business for fifteen years but this was the first time he was seeing a pickpocketing detective. Change's expression became serious as she stared at the corpse on the bar counter. "So what's the story?" Hearing how serious her voice had become he quickly began to tell her what happened. "Four days ago it was a full house as usual but after that night the owners had put up a notice on the front door that were going to be closed for quite a while. It had happened before so no one thought anything about it" Change nodded as she stared at the dead man whose eyes were wide open, the fear was evident in his eyes. "When did you find the body?" Jack scratches his chin and smiles proudly "I and my men had been patrolling, one of my men Edgar has a very keen sense of smell so we decided to in and check it out" Change's lips twitched "I said when did you find the body?" Jack soon realised his mistake and quickly answered "We found the body last night and the street has been closed off since, " Change nodded, looking at the two bullet holes in his chest she roughly guessed the cause of death. "What of the owners of the bar? Where are they?" "Ah....that, we were planning to bring them in for questioning but we couldn't find them, we are still currently searching for them." Jack said smiling. Change looked at him suddenly feeling irritated "Why are you smiling? Does a Fae dying in a Centaur's bar seem funny to you?...Do you know what will happen if this blows out of proportion?" "I...." Jack who was only smiling to seem polite was now speechless, why does this woman act so scary? "We could have a full blown war on our hands if we take this lightly. Now! Find out the identity of this man, make sure to find the owners of this bar." Change said while putting on gloves, Jack stared at her puzzled at what she was doing. Just when he was about to ask, he saw her plunging her fingers in one of the bullet holes and pulling it out. "Miss...." Change ignored the man behind her and examined the bullet, considering how deep the bullet was in the body and where it was located, it didn't hit any vital points which means he was either left to bleed to death or the bullets weren't the reason he died. Her eyes flashed as she thought of something. "I'm going to need this bar empty in the next twenty seconds" Jack was caught off guard by her words "Wah?" "Eighteen, seventeen, sixteen..." hearing the iciness in her tone, he panicked and quickly called everyone out of the bar. Despite the fact that everyone was confused by his demands, hearing the urgency in his voice they all quickly left. After the huge double doors to the bar closed, Change let out a sigh. She stared at the Fae's corpse. Change had a reason for sending everyone out of the bar, she had a secret only the people closest to her knew and she intended to keep it that way. She took off the glove on her left hand and touched the corpse.
