Chapter 8

1021 Words
“I will definitely have to thank her personally. Would you like some tea?” “Oh no no, thank you so much. I don’t want to be a bother this late. If you need any help, I am more than happy to help out.” “Oh not at all, have some of our special tea from Japan. Evaleen, stay with our guest, I will be back in no time.” “So where did you live before?” He started small talk. “Japan.” She was in no mood to talk. Christian got the hint and suddenly his focus was on her heartbeat. It was really faint to be of a human and somewhere he felt like he has heard this heartbeat before. As if Evaleen noticed him, her heartbeat got normal suddenly. No supernatural being has that kind of heartbeat whereas Camilla’s appeared normal. “Are there any good high schools in this town?” Evaleen asked him after a while. “Yeah there are many private high schools but Fall River High school has a good reputation in this town. Which year are you going to start?” “Freshman.” “Oh, good. My sister is also starting this year. I am in junior year; I can talk to the principal if you need any help with the admissions.” She nodded her head and handed him a notepad to write down his number. Camilla came with three cups of tea and settled it on the table. “Here, these are all the documents about the castle.” Christian didn’t want to appear rude but for the safety of the town and his pack, he has to make sure that these women are not a threat to Fall Rivers. “We are originally from Rome but moved to Japan. My daughter and son-in-law built this castle there but suddenly everything started to disappear. The incident shook our core and we lost a lot including my daughter and son-in-law.” Christian’s heart pained and he looked at Evaleen. Her face was blank but he could feel her sadness. “We didn’t know what happened and after years of research, we finally found this location. I really wanted my granddaughter to enjoy her childhood home, so we moved here.” She explained to him. Christian listened to it carefully; he didn’t believe her completely because he remembered the condition of the castle when it appeared. He looked like the ruins of war but he chose not to say a word. Since that day he started to help them to settle in. The exterior which was destroyed was renovated and looked beautiful. Evaleen had a talent for aesthetics, she had some great ideas. She got admission to Fall River high and turns out the room Christian liked as a child was in fact Evaleen’s room. Christian wanted to believe that there was some sort of connection between them but Evaleen was very oblivious to it. She was quiet and only spoke when needed but she liked his company or that’s what Christian liked to think. After all this time, his curiosity was still not sedated. Over the top, more questions got added like what was Evaleen? The explanation Camilla gave was not the truth but he couldn’t prove it yet. He searched for Romulan on the internet and found nothing. How could someone who owns such a huge castle be away from the internet or any book? Carson was trying to make sense of the connection, as Evaleen was only 15; the mate bond isn’t strong just yet for them to feel. Chapter 4- Is the mate bond real? (Evaleen) How easily could her grams lie? The fact that she has to hide her background, doesn’t settle well with her. But it’s probably for the best; she wants to live her life in peace rather than having people hovering over her for information. She can’t help but think did Camilla lie to her as well? How many skeletons does Camilla have in her closet? These were the questions running through Evaleen’s mind. She wanted answers but didn’t want to hurt Camilla either. Her grandmother helped her adapt to a different world, and Evaleen was her only priority. Raising a supernatural child who was orphaned at the young age of 5 years old couldn’t be an easy job. Evaleen respected her and didn’t want to be a nuisance but now she has some questions and the key to answers is Camilla. Camilla protected her by covering the truth, only the Alpha family of Takayama knew about the mythical world and Evaleen’s true identity which wasn’t complete either, except for a few details that she told Eiji. Camilla expressed that she hopes that Evaleen will keep it hidden in Fall River, especially from the tribrid. Camilla explained the rules very clearly before coming to Fall Rivers. Evaleen has always despised strangers trying to come near her or her grandmother. Camilla warned her that the people in this town aren’t going to be welcoming to them and that she has to prepare for a fight to get back to her castle but so far the situation has been exactly the opposite. People haven’t bothered them; the mayor was very helpful with the documentation, and the condition of the castle was fairly maintained. She thought the place would look nothing less than the set of a haunted movie. Then there was this guy who has been extra attentive and helpful to them since their arrival, Christian. She doesn’t trust him completely but somewhere his calm demeanor and charming personality have done a number on her. His dark hair, green eyes, built physique and charming smile have affected her. They were still behaving as if they were humans. On their very first meet, she heard his heartbeat and his musk which resembled a werewolf. Christian’s musk was different than Daiki, Eiji, or every other werewolf she has met in the past 10 years. He was different. Right now, after getting settled in she wants to know more about the tribrid, Celestina Lucius Blackwood.
