"So, how was it?" Amara was seated on her office chair.
"It was okay. The usual alphas fight over each other, just to get my attention," Helena slammed her body on Amara's couch and laid still with her eyes closed.
Amara stood up and walked towards her. She lifted her head and let Helena use her thigh as her pillow.
"Did anyone touch you?" Amara rubbed Helena's shoulder and massaged it a little.
“No…” She muttered sleepily.
“That’s good. He followed what I said.”
Helena glanced at Amara who was staring into space, “are you talking about the alpha that you mercilessly f****d last time?”
Amara chuckled, “well, he’s a man of his word and I like that. He convinced me with his charming dimpled smile.”
Helena sat up and stared at Amara. Then a teasing smile spread across her lips.
“Don’t look at me like that.”
“Look at you like what?” Helena chuckled.
“Like you're saying, I like that alpha.” Amara stood up and walked back to her desk.
She followed and sat on her desk, “well, do you?”
“No.”
Helena giggled, “you’re a f*****g liar!”
Amara gasped at Helena, “go home before I kick you out!”
Helena stood up, “you won’t kick me out. You love me too much to do that. Plus, you can’t live without me…”
Amara watched Helena strut towards the door, she glanced at her over her shoulder, “mama…”
“What?”
“I’ll be fine. You don’t need to watch over me anymore. You have to free yourself from the promise you made to my mother…” Helena’s face softened.
“Go home, Helena… Take a rest. I’ll see you tomorrow night.”
As soon as Helena closed the door, Amara smiled, “that kid…”
*
(The next night)
Helena walked down the hall from servicing an alpha when one of the omegas called him, “hey Lena… Someone came looking for you…”
Helena squinted her eyes, “for me? Who?”
“It’s that doctor guy that visits you every day… What’s his name again?”
Helena’s eyes widened and a smile spread across her lips, “where is he?”
“He’s in Amara’s office. But I don’t think she’s already here. Amara said to just have him wait in her office.”
Helena giggled, “Okay, thanks!”
Helena was excited, she ran quickly to Amara’s office. When she got there, she stopped and quickly sprayed her perfume on her clothes. She took a deep breath and knocked. She took a peek and saw Gabriel seated in front of Amara’s desk, waiting.
Gabriel turned around and smiled at him, “Lena…”
Helena slowly walked inside with her face blushing, she couldn't help but smile at her alpha crush, “Hi, Doctor Marquez.”
“Hi, it’s been a long time…” Gabriel smiled.
Helena stood in front of Gabriel, suppressing herself from hugging the alpha who made her heart skip a beat all the time.
“Yeah, it’s been so long. I thought you were not coming back anymore. I kinda… Miss you…” Helena looked down when she felt the heat in her cheeks.
She gasped when Gabriel reached for her hands and held them. She looked up and saw Gabriel’s smiling eyes, “I miss you too…”
He pulled Helena to sit down on one of the chairs in front of Amara’s desk, “I actually won’t take long because I have to be somewhere. I’m here to ask for a favor.”
Helena nodded and smiled eagerly, “Yes, of course, anything… whatever you need…”
Gabriel smiled, “I have a friend who needs a little help. Though it may not be so little. He’s kinda lonely and sad and I know once he meets you it will be a good change for him.”
Helena was trying to figure out what Gabriel was doing, “okay. What do you want me to do for your friend?”
Gabriel sighed, “just be a friend to him. Just like what you did to me.”
Helena chuckled and it made her lick her lower lips, remembering what she did to Gabriel in the past, “exactly what I did to you?”
Gabriel blushed but he smiled, “Well, I don’t know. I just want him to get away from all his worries. He’s a strong alpha and he’s very, very handsome. Plus, he is kind. Someone you’ll definitely like.”
Helena was surprised, “Oh, okay… Sure… Tell him to come over and I’ll give him what he needs.”
Gabriel noticed Helena’s tone changed, “Lena… I uhm… This will be the last time I’m gonna come here… I know I promised you that I'd be visiting you all the time. But a lot of things have changed now… I found my omega…”
Helena felt her heart get struck by a knife, but she didn’t want Gabriel to feel that, so she smiled, “Oh, that’s good! I’m happy for you! Wow, you finally decided to ask someone out. That’s good!”
Gabriel smiled, “thanks for everything. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn't have that confidence in myself. I owe you everything.”
Helena smiled, feeling happy she was able to help the alpha she liked, “Well, at least it shows I’m a good teacher.”
They both chuckled, then Gabriel stood up and pulled Helena to stand up and hugged her. Helena was surprised, but instead of backing away, she wrapped her arms around Gabriel’s chest and closed her eyes to remember this last moment. She inhaled Gabriel’s scent, which now came with the scent of an omega. Helena wrapped her arms tighter around Gabriel when she realized that this scent indicated he had already marked the omega.
No turning back for you anymore, Gabriel… But I’m happy for you…
Gabriel pulled away and stared at Helena, “take care of yourself. If you have the chance to get away from all of this, then do so. I know Amara is not holding you captive here and you’re free to leave anytime. So, think about it okay. If you need help outside, even though you have Amara, just come see me at my clinic and I’ll do my best to help you. Okay?”
“Okay Doctor Marquez… I’ll come by one day. If I ever decide to get out of here, then I’ll come see you and maybe meet your omega. I need to see and know who this person is, if she could really take care of you like how I did.”
Gabriel chuckled and it made Helena smile.
I’m going to miss your smile…
Amara opened the door and was surprised to see them, “Oh my! Did I disturb you two?”
Gabriel smiled, “no. Actually, I was just leaving. I have sent you the details of the person that’s going to hold my membership from now on.”
Amara glanced at Helena and sighed, “that’s good. But I believed that person denied the reservation…”
“Oh, don’t worry about that. He’ll be here, I’ll make sure of that… Uhm, I was hoping you could give Lena to him…”
Amara raised one of her eyebrows at Gabriel, “that sounded like Lena is a stuffed toy that I could just give to anyone…”
Gabriel laughed, “that’s not what I meant. I meant that… I trust Lena with him. This kid is like a younger brother to me. We go way back and seeing him having a hard time right now is not something I’m used to seeing…”
Amara got irritated, because Gabriel was clueless about what Helena felt. “Well, perhaps you should send him somewhere else-...”
“It’s okay mama… I’ll be okay with it…” Helena suddenly said.
Amara looked at Helena and she knew she was faking her smile and anytime soon she would be shedding tears.
“Okay. But you know Lena’s time is gold. He is not just some omega you see on the street. She is special.”
“I know,” Gabriel looked at Helena and he smiled again, “that’s why I trust her with this.”
Amara sat down and just sighed in frustration, “right, whatever. I’ll charge it on your card. You had better explain this to whoever you are with now. I don’t want any omega to come barging in here like the last time because of her alpha’s credit card getting maxed out.”
Gabriel chuckled, “yeah, don’t worry.”
Amara looked at Helena and she noticed her sad face, “Okay, now leave my office and we’ll just wait for this friend of yours.”
Gabriel bowed and looked at Helena, “thank you, Lena. For everything.”
Helena smiled and Amara saw how she was holding on to her tears. Gabriel cupped Helena’s face and planted a kiss on her forehead before he left. Amara leaned her back on her chair while she looked at Helena, who was looking at the closed door.
“Go home, sweetheart… Take the rest of the week off…”
“No. I’ll meet Gabriel’s friend. I’ll do what he asked me to do. It’s just one way for me to forget everything. At least he didn’t just leave me with a broken heart. He left me his friend.” Helena’s voice sounded breaking.
“The one that got away…” Amara whispered.
“Yeah…” Helena picked up her bag and walked out of Amara’s office.
Helena was walking in the alley and waiting for Amara’s driver to take her home when she noticed Gabriel was standing by his car and was talking to someone. He was going to wave at Gabriel but he saw the woman he was talking to touch his face in a loving way.
I see… this is the lucky omega…
Helena watched them express their love for each other. They were just talking sweetly but it made Helena’s heart ache. She wanted something like that, even if she was afraid of being controlled and not having her own choice because she was marked. She wanted to have someone like Gabriel, but she didn’t want to be tied down to obey someone and have no choice.
A car honked in front of her and she glanced at her driver, “going home early?”
Helena smiled at Amara’s driver, “Yes, Mr. Kraus.”
Helena glanced at Gabriel again and saw him hugging his omega with a smile she always wanted to have for herself. Gabriel saw her and waved at her . Even if she was hurt, Helena smiled and waved at Gabriel. She turned around and got inside the car before she could shed her tears.
“Do you have any stops today?” her driver asked.
Helena looked outside the car window and sighed deeply, “no. Just take me home, Mr. Kraus.”
*
As soon as she got to their home, Helena let herself fall on her bed. She looked at the ceiling of her room full of glow in the dark stars. She reminisced about everything that happened between her and Gabriel. From the first day he came to Feline to the last time he visited. To all the text messages and calls he made until he stopped and now, he came back to say he had finally found his omega.
Helena closed her eyes and thought about how happy she was for Gabriel. She was glad she was able to help him to have confidence in himself. But then she wasn’t meant to be his omega, maybe not meant to be anyone’s omega at all. This is her life and it will not change at all. No alpha would want an omega like her. No one would take her seriously. Not one that would judge her way of living.
Not one of them would love her for just her. It would always just be because they would want s*x from her. And that’s it, just for fun and pleasure, nothing else.
Helena covered her eyes with her arms as she felt tears escaping the corners of her eyes. She cried quietly with no one to comfort her and ease her pain.
