CHAPTER 3

They stayed until dinner. I had my head buried in a book until it was time for dinner. I quickly excused myself from the table and made my way to my room. I found it uncomfortable to sleep in a bed but mama would never let me sleep on a couch. I remembered the weird pyramid I found in the garden. I ran my hands on the rough surface and surveyed it. I felt a sharp prick on my finger and winced as the rock cut me. My blood dropped on the rock and the rock lit up. The blood followed the pattern until it gathered at the centre. There was lightening, thunder and black out. I felt excruciating pain from my hands moving up toy shoulders, then at the centre of my chest. I screamed and clutched my chest tightly. It felt like there was a hole in my chest and I clawed at it. The pain probably lasted for a few moments but it felt like hours. The lights came on. I felt lightheaded and then I passed out. When I woke up, I felt different. I searched for my glasses with my hands but I couldn't find it. I opened my eyes and everything was clear. I saw the broken glass on the ground and I picked it up. My alarm rang. I reached out to tap it as usual. The alarm crumbled as soon as I tapped it. I withdrew my hand in shock. I looked around my room and it dawned on me that I was actually seeing without my glasses. I rushed to my mirror and almost screamed at the person I saw. I was totally different. A completely different person from who I was. My chubby cheek and zits where gone. I looked like those ripped underwear models. With ripped chests and bulging muscles. I put my hand down my pants and felt my junk. It was f*****g bigger. I tried to remember if I had taken something that made me look like this. I noticed the red ruby at my chest. I tried to pull it off but it didn't come off. I remembered the pyramid and what happened yesterday rushed into my head. I searched my room for the pyramid but I couldn't find it. I went back to the mirror and touched the ruby lightly. Immediately, black patterns appeared from the centre where the ruby sat and spread across my chest, through my shoulders and down my arms. They were there for about ten minutes before they disappeared. I rushed to my laptop and tried to find anything on a pyramid with patterns but my search result came up with things that were totally unrelated. My door was pushed open and I stood up immediately. Mama screamed when she saw me and I tried to calm her down. "Where the f**k did you keep my Crash?" "I'm Crash" "No you're not. Bring our my son or I'll beat your ass" "It's me mama" she didn't have the chance to talk before we heard a loud crash. Sounds of boots and men with weapons aimed at us. They started shooting at us. I pushed mama to the floor and dodged the bullets. They shot at the couch I hid behind and I tried to move away. Another s**t was fired close to my foot and I screamed. "Get up" a masked face spoke to me. She blocked the bullets and fought off the armed men while I hid behind her. She moved and u stayed behind her until I could help mama up. "Go to Mrs. Finch and call the police" I told her. She ran out. I noticed they only shot at me and mystery lady. "Can you drive?" "A little" she swore under her breath and pushed me outside while she fought off the men. "Get into the car" I ran into the car and she rushed into it. Starting the engine and driving off like a maniac while they s**t at us. "What the f**k is going on? And who the f**k are you?" I asked. "I should be asking you that" she said. "Be asking me? I'm just a normal weird guy who nobody notices and just lost his job" "I doubt that" she said eyeing me. "I totally don't look like this. I don't know how this happened" "Could have fooled me" I couldn't blame her though. "And you showed up when they did. How did you know what was going down?" "I got tipped by my bosses" "Your bosses?" "I work for a kind of rescue team. We got tipped that they were coming after you so I came to rescue you" "Do you know why they're after me" "They work for ODE. You must have something that belongs to them" "Belongs to them? I assure you I don't" She stopped the car abruptly. I groaned as the seatbelt dug into my stomach. "Get out" "What?" She unbuckled the seatbelt, leaked over and opened my side of the car and pushed me out" I landed face first into the ground and groaned. I saw her boots as she approached me. She crouched down and pulled of her mask, her hair flying in the wind. "I'm not risking my life to save you if you won't tell me the f*****g truth" "What truth?" "About what you f*****g stole from ODE. I can assure you they won't stop coming after you until they get it back even if it means killing you. And from what I can see, you can barely protect yourself" "I'm saying the truth. I didn't take anything. I don't even know what the f**k ODE is?" She eyed me up and down. "You're saying the truth" "Of course I am" "You'll have to stick with me until we find out why they are after you" I hugged and stood up. Dusting my clothes and climbing back into the truck. "Now that you've confirmed I'm saying the truth. Can you please tell me what the f**k ODE is"
