I followed Gunther outside of the diner. "You want to follow me or go in the same car?" Gunther questioned. I still wasn't completely comfortable with this whole situation, so I decided I was going to follow him, just in case I needed to get away. As much as it pains me to think this, I don't fully trust Gunther. I grew up learning you can't trust everyone even your friends and family. Just look at Landon, his own father turned against him, thankfully Conrad realized his mistake, he was able to salvage his relationship with Landon and be a part of his grandchildren's lives. "I am going to follow you. Lead the way." I say calmly. Gunther just nods his head and then heads to his vehicle. I get in my SUV and then follow him out of town.
The landscape is slightly different out of town. Seems to have a little more life than in town. You can tell people take care of everything more once they get out of town. Has Jensen really let the down crumble through the years that he has taken it over completely. I still find it hard to believe that Landon doesn't have control here at all. I wonder if Jensen somehow stayed off the radar? I will definitely have to call Landon and let him know about this. He runs this country and if someone is trying to change that, then I need to let my boss know as soon as possible. Once I finish with this encounter I will call him. I change lanes when I see Gunther put on his blinkers. He goes about five miles more and then pulls into a hidden dirt road. I see a house come into view and my limbs start shaking. I feel like I a panic attack is approaching, but I take a few deep breaths just to try and calm my nerves. Gunther parks and gets out. I park beside him and follow his action. Once I am standing beside him, we head to the door. Gunther knocks on the door and I stand there in a daze, almost like I am in the Twilight Zone or something. "I'm coming, I'm coming, don't get your panties in a twist." says a familiar voice. I feel my heart clench tightly and then I gulp loudly. The door swings open and there stands the man that raised me, the man who I respected and loved, the man I thought was taken from me. My Father. "Gunther, what brings......" my father starts to say stops when he notices me. His eyes widen with shock, he takes a shaky step towards me. "Tommy? Son.... is that really..... you?" he croaks out. I see tears slowly forming in his eyes, "I thought you were taken and killed." he cries out and then starts to crumble to the ground. I catch him before he falls and just hold him. He grabs ahold of me and holds me tightly as he weeps on my shoulder. "My son..... y-your alive... how? What happened?" I am still in a daze and feel tears well in my eyes. "Father? How are you still alive? I thought Jensen killed you?" I ask emotionally. My father weeps harder and then looks up at me. "Tommy. My son." he repeats again. I think he is in shock. To be honest I am too. "Yes, father. It's me, I'm here now." I rasp out. We embrace eachother and just hold one another. *cough* I look up and notice Gunther still standing there. I chuckled softly, I had completely forgotten he was here. "Umm.... sorry about that Gunther. Got caught up in the moment." I laughed. Gunther just smiled softly and then helped me and my father up. We followed my father inside and for the next several hours I sit with my father and friend from my childhood and listen to everything that has happened to them these last thirty-two years.
"So where is Jackson? Shouldn't he be here with you?" I ask carefully. "He had an emergency with Emma. She needed help. He should be here soon, at least I think he will. We might end up meeting him at the bar." my father says casually. "Emma?" I say curiously. I don't know why, but I feel a sudden sense of possessiveness. I don't even know who my father is talking about, but I feel something deep inside my gut by the mere mention of her name. That's strange. I have never had a feeling like that before. "Yeah, she has been working for us for a couple years now. Poor girl has had a hard life. We have claimed her as family there at the bar. Jackson and her have gotten close in the last couple days." my father states calmly. I feel my blood boil and a surge of jealousy hit me right smack in the face. What the f**k is wrong with me? "So her and Jackson are dating then?" I ask growling. My father just looks at me curiously and with a bit of confusion. "Jackson would never date Emma son, he actually sees her like a little sister. Why the sudden interest?" my father asks cautiously. I shrug my shoulders and feign non interest. "Just wondering about my little brother, that's all." I say calmly. My father smiles knowingly, but doesn't say anything. What would he say anyway, it's not like I know the woman. Thankfully my father changes the subject and we visit for awhile longer. "You both are coming with me to the bar. I am going to be opening for the evening crowd soon. I'm sure Jackson is already there getting things prepared." my father demands. Gunther and I exchange glances then nod in agreement. "Alright let's go. You can come with me if you want father." I mention casually. He looks at me and smiles. "Of course Son, I would love too." My father gathers the things he needs and then we head to the bar. I can't wait to see my brother after all these years. There is a slight chance I might get to meet this woman that my father has been talking about. My excitement is strangely comforting. I wonder what this night will bring?
