(Luciana POV) "Do you think it's a good idea?" Melissa asked as I turned my attention to her. "I don't know." I gave her a small smile before resuming looking outside. Well, look at a person in particular. Currently, we are traveling back to my kingdom. Like always my maid accompanies me in my carriage while the guards follow in their horses. Nero was also riding a horse, his position right next to the carriage door. He wore a loose light brown shirt and dark brown pants. His hair was messing from running his hands over a million times. His eyes were void as he stared ahead. He was not happy with the journey. I sighed and looked at my wounded hand. Well of course he won't be happy. He is forced to come with me. "Does your hand hurt?" Melissa asked snapping me out of my thoughts. "Oh um no." I muttered leaving my bandage alone. I was running my hand over the bandage, something I picked up after I bandaged the wound on my wrist. "It looks like it will be pouring soon." she said as I looked at the sky. The dark clouds had completely covered the sky and the wind was starting to pick up. "I thought it was predicted to be a sunny day." I frowned. I only travel after I make sure it will be a sunny day. "This is bad." I frowned cursing on the inside. The problem with rain is that I hate it. It reminded me of their death. I formed my hand into a fist. "Tell the guards to find a hotel fast." I said as a flash of lightning lit up the sky. "s**t!" I cursed moving further into the carriage. Melissa looked at me in worry before calling my mate. Only Melissa and James knew about this. I need to get to a shelter as fast as possible. If the council knew I have such a weakness, they will start announcing how I am incompetent to be the ruler and start protesting. The travel to my kingdom consisted of 2 days. Usual our night stay will be on the guest house in one of the packs under my rule but with the dark, whether I doubt we can reach there in time. "Tell the guards to find the nearest inn." she said to Nero making him frown. "There is no good inn nearby. The forest inns cannot be trusted." it was another guard that announced it. "That is alright. Just make sure you double check the place. It is going to rain hard and we can't waste time." By this time I was curled up in a ball, covering my ears. The thunder was getting fiercer and I tried to take deep breaths wanting to calm down. Melissa was covering me from the window so no one sees but I saw how Nero peeped through. His eyes widen seeing my shivering state. "She is right. We should find an inn. The rain is going to cause us trouble if we don't find shelter." I was shocked at what Nero said. "Yes, Alpha." the guard said before announcing to the rest of the people. He glanced at me for one more second before looking forwards. I couldn’t help but smile in relief. Melissa thanked Nero before pulling the curtain completely. She then sat next to me and gave a sad smile. "It's alright, your Majesty. I am here." she smiled making me nod in relief. Melissa has taken care of me since I was a baby. She knew how to comfort me and I was comfortable enough to open up to her. "Yea. I am ok." I said and I knew it was a big lie. The carriage suddenly stopped and a knock was made on the door. By now the rain was pouring heavily. "We found an inn. The guards are securing the area." the guard said as Melissa replied to them. "I need to calm down." I mumbled taking a deep breath. I sat up straight, flinching a little from the thunder that struck. "The area is secure." a voice came and this time I knew it was Nero. "Ok. I am alright." I said as Melissa nodded. She knocked on the door twice and almost immediately the door clicked before opening. "Lady Melissa." the guard said before extending his hand. She glanced at me for a second before taking his hand and getting out. I took a deep breath moving forward. A hand came into the view and my eyes met with a pair of familiar blue ones. "Your highness." he said his voice void. "Hello, Nero." I gave him a small smile. He stared at me probably seeing how shook up I am. I grab hold of his hand the warmth immediately passed throughout the body. Strangely I felt myself relax a little. I looked up at Nero as he put an umbrella over my head. I sighed and moved it a little. "You will get wet." I smiled but he didn't react. I flinched at another lightning and took deep breaths preparing for the thunder. Right now I wished he still held my hand. I felt a sense of protection and now I feel more vulnerable. But I paused as I felt Nero take a step closer to me. My eyes widen and I looked at Nero who was staring straight ahead. His face was still void but I didn't miss how his ears burned red. His shoulder was touching mine, his body heat feeling like a coat protecting me. Once we reached the Inn, Melissa came running with worry. "Are you ok, your highness?" she asked as I smiled at nodded. I tried my best to not flinch from the lightning since there are many guards around. "We have double checked the perimeters, your majesty," one of them said as I smiled and nodded. "Thank you, everyone. Please take some rest so we can resume our travel tomorrow." I folded my hand to a fist so no one sees it shivering. I just want them to go away. Hurry up and go away. "Shall we go to the room?" Melissa asked as I quickly nodded. "Yes, please. I really need some rest" I laughed trying to avoid suspicion. Nero stepped ahead making me look at him with confusion. "What are you doing?" I asked as he turned to me with a raised eyebrow. "Isn't it your protector's duty to make sure you reach the room safely?" I was shocked by his response but honestly a bit glad. Being around him always calmed my nerves. "Ok." I smiled as I followed him to my room. Looks like I need him more than I thought I would.
