Chapter 3 Leaving

Persephone's POV

I reluctantly slip off into the night, through the trees and brush. Everytime I pass a tree I find myself looking back at the wolf from afar. He is absolutely beautiful, especially with his bright blue eyes that just pop out from his dark black fur. He looks elegant in every sense of the word. A breathtakingly stunning specimen to say the least. I have never once thought that about a wolf like this.. So I don't know why he is having this effect on me with only saying a couple words to me.

I do have to say though, that rumble of his baritone voice in those couple of words said, sent a chill down my spine just at the way the words rolled off his tongue, that I cannot describe as anything else but enticing. He is now intently watching me as I'm watching him from afar.

I honestly don't know what it is about that wolf but there is something inside of me telling me I need to stay there. I have never felt like this and don't understand the feeling at all.. but I can't stay.. Why would I stay when I know that all they want to do is use me for my powers so I can't help anymore.

I find myself now moving backwards as I stare at him inching further and further away. I finally push myself to turn all the way around.. maybe if I don't look at him I will be able to leave. But honestly my feet get heavier the further away I get. I can still feel his eyes on my back but only for a moment. Maybe this is a trick to lure me in and capture me.. I need to go before I get used and abused like the rest of my clan.

I start slowly getting up to pace jumping over the dead trees and weaving through the standing high trees. The crunch of the leaves is all I can hear under my feet as I feel almost like crying. I feel distressed that I'm going this far away from him.. maybe it's the area.. whatever it is seems to be getting my heart racing in anticipation.. I find myself stopping abruptly, turning around but of course I can't see the wolves anymore because I have ran far enough away.. but I can't help and feel like he is there.. like he is with me or maybe I just want him to be with me.. I think I need more distance between us because if there is more distance then the connection I feel with him should be lost.. right?

I'm brought out of my deep thoughts by a comment, "Percy! Long time no see!" I look over to my side to see the famous Satyr Kai. With his half goat body and half human he stands at only 4 feet tall, but that's tall for a satyr.

"Kai? I thought the wolves would have gotten you long ago." I state not as excited to see him as he is to see me. He is nice and trustworthy but way too pushy for my liking.. Not very good when it comes to bounderies.

"Looking more beautiful everyday Percy." He states lightly reaching out and touching my thigh before adding. "Helping out the misfortunate who come in contact with the darkness and can't fend for themselves? Once again.. like the saint you are.." He asks me in a sensual tone that had nothing to do with what he is saying. I hit away his hand and start walking away from him. "Kai you know I'm always going to be out here in the night like usual.. why even ask?" I spat at him as I roll my eyes. Satyrs are all about the ladies and Kai is the king when it comes to getting the ladies.. no matter the size or difference.

"Well I think we could just make a great team.. you and I." He states hopping closer to me as I outwardly scoff making sure he knows how much I dislike that statement.

"Kai don't treat me like one of your little damsels in distress.. I'm not that easily convinced and you know it.. I'm also not in need of your assistance because I can take care of myself. You know as well as I, that you don't want to help out anyone but yourself.. so how about you just keep your grubby little hands off of me before I make you keep them off." I warn him as I continue to walk away with him following close behind like the horny scavenger he is.

"You don't know that Percy! You haven't given me a shot yet.. and yeah sure, I'm more concerned with you then anyone else who might need help.. but is that really a big deal? Come on girl.. you can't deny my goatish good looks. I mean come on look at these impeccable horns.. probably the biggest you have ever seen on a satyr... and my comfy fur. I would stay wrapped around you everyday to keep you warm if you would let me." He states as he hops onto the boulder next to me so we are now eye to eye.

"Kai.. how many times do I have to tell you NO until you get the picture?" I ask shaking my head at him as he winks at me then wiggling his eyebrows before responding. "You know I will never stop when it comes to a beauty like you Percy. So you just need to stop fighting your urges to touch my soft fur because I promise I won't stop you. Just give in and I promise you will have a fantastic time."

"The only urges I'm fighting is to not vomit on your nice soft fur. So I would just keep my distance if I were you." I state to him as he hops besides me from boulder to boulder exclaiming, "So you DO think my fur is nice and soft.. I knew it!"

This satyr just won't catch my very blunt comments.. what else do I say to him?.. Pssshhh satyrs!

I look down at him before stating, "This conversation is over.. until next time Kai.. bye." I chant and spin my fingers before blowing him a kiss and sending him away in a little tornado. He won't get too hurt just some scaratches and maybe bruises. Sorry but he is not taking no for an answer so something had to happen whether he likes it or not. But I have already done this to him a few dozen times so he is use to it by now.. I bet he expects the exit tornado. "Miss you already Percy." Can be heard from the little spinning tunnel of wind as it floats away from me.

Jayce's POV

I can't seem to tear my eyes from her receding graceful frame. She just glides through the trees staring back at me every now and then looking conflicted. I think she can feel the mate bond between us.. maybe wanting to stay with me.. She obviously feels something since she can't take her eyes from mine for longer than a moment. I watch her tear her gaze from mine again as she starts to jog out of my line of sight and into the darkness.

My eyes are great because of my wolf night vision. Meaning I can see far in the dark which helps in situations such as this.

"Dammit I can't believe you let her get away!" Milo yells at me just groaning in my head as I shift into my human form, because I hear the loud groaning from my best friend who needs my help, taking me out of my thoughts. I take the vial into my hands popping out the cork as I pour the rest of the liquid into his mouth. He groans out loudly in pain as the drink quickly takes effect.

I watch him writh and contort all over the ground until his body comes to a complete stop. I wait in anticipation for the ending results. Did trusting my mate, but a complete stranger, make things better or worse?

He groans out muttering something under his breath. I lean down next to him trying to hear what he is muttering. "Go.. now." He states to me as I furrow my eyebrows. I help him stand up as I state to him. "Come on let's get you back."

He shakes his head vigorously before explaining, "No Jay! Go get your mate before you lose her scent! We need help from the light and we need a Luna.. the pack will understand." He grunts out as I instantly retort pointing in the direction that she left in. "No as an Alpha I can't just leave my pack, galavanting around trying to find a mate who just ran from me."

He laughs at me gaining my attention before explaining. "Man you really don't know women do you? She is not a wolf.. she probably doesn't know you're her mate and doesn't understand any feelings she is having for you.. She is a fae which means she is hunted and probably doesn't trust anyone, who would in her place? You need to get to her and explain it so she is not still running or freaked out... I will explain it to the pack and I can watch them until you get back.. just don't take too long.. I don't want to be Alpha that's your job."

I sit there thinking about what he has said because maybe he is right. maybe she just really doesn't know. "She did just keep turning around as she was walking away and looking at me.. maybe you're right.. Are you sure you can watch the pack for me for a couple days? I won't stay longer than that.. because if I can't find her or convince her then I'll just come back." I state to him as he nods at me limping past. "Yes we will be fine for a couple days, so you can find our Luna.. Go get her.. and don't give me that look I'll be fine I swear.. Now go.. Before you really lose her scent Alpha." He commands me, which I'm not a fan of, but I know sometimes that has to happen for me to actually listen because I can be just as stubborn as him.

"Ok.. thank you.. I'll be back in a couple days.. actually give me 3.. see you soon.." I say shifting into Milo once again as I bolt in the direction I saw her leaving from.

I weave in and out of the trees going as fast as I can while trying to stay aware of my surroundings so I don't jump into a trap either. I think I'm getting close because her sweet scent seems to be getting stronger thankfully.

I start to slow down, checking out the area to make sure I don't startle her if I am as close as I think. I look around until I hear her melodic voice carrying across the area. I can't tell what she is saying, but I can hear her talking with someone.

I inch closer looking through the trees as I stop instantly. Seeing her and a satyr she is talking to. She looks annoyed by him but obviously knows who he is. He seems to be hitting on her as he hops from boulder to boulder besides her. She keeps walking and talking with him as she rolls her eyes and batting away his touching hands.

She finally spins her hands creating a little whirlwind to take him away from her as she continues on with the mini tornado floating away from her with the satyr inside yelling, "Miss you already Percy!" I follow her of course as she continues on her journey away from the area.
