Candice
I woke up earlier than usual. I broke out in a cold sweat as I packed my things. Today, I’m planning on escaping. We have relatives in Rotherham; it’s still in the north but far away from here, and I planned to go there. “What the fvck are you doing?” My wolf angrily said, “Isn’t it obvious? I’m planning to escape!” I said so and continued packing my clothes. “You know it’s dangerous out there! Rogues are roaming around. We could be killed!” I paused for a second at that thought. She’s right, but I will still do it if it is the only way to avoid Blake.
“Candice, have you packed your things? Blake will be here in a few minutes.” Mom said it through the door. I hurriedly zipped the bag and threw it outside. “I’m ready, Mom!” I answered back.
“Okay, good! Come down if you’re already done.” She said. “Please don’t do this!” Claire begged, but I had already made up my mind. “I’m sorry.” I said this before shutting her down. I climbed on the window rails, inhaled a deep breath, and jumped to the ground. I heard a loud thud when I landed on the ground. I quickly grabbed my bag and started running through the forest, but somebody grabbed me by the waist, and I tumbled into him, my back against his chest.
“Got ya!” He huskily said that and gently kissed the crook of my neck. I shivered when I realized who it was. It’s Blake Reese. “Let me go!” I shouted in his face and tried to push him away, but he just ignored my whining and tightened his grip around me.
“Don't... Please don’t push me away.” He softly said, It’s like he meant another thing. We stayed like this for a few minutes, just hugging in the middle of the woods. I’ve calmed my nerves down, but the thought of escaping has never left my mind.
“Let me go. I won’t escape.” I spoke to him, and he looked at me with a warm smile. “Do you promise that?” He asked me like a little child, and I nodded my head in response. As soon as he dropped his arms, I stomped hard on his foot and ran like my life depended on it. I heard him yelp in pain, but I never looked back.
“Candice! Stop!” He yelled. When he lifted me up and threw me over his shoulder as if I were a young child, I was astounded. “Let me go!” I shouted at the top of my lungs and punched his back repeatedly. “Quit it! "If you don't stop moving like that, I might drop you." He sounded mad when he said it, and that’s why I decided to shut my mouth for now. He grabbed my bag on the ground and carried me back to the house.
“Ugh, I’m getting dizzy. Please stop walking and let me down.” I said, This time it’s true. I think my blood just went up to my head as he carried me. I pinched his shoulder; it was freaking hard like a stone. He stopped on his track and let out an exasperated sigh. “What am I going to do with you?” He helplessly He stopped on his track and let out an exasperated sigh, but regardless, he followed what I said and let me down. Now my clothes are ruined! I fixed my clothes and glared at him. He pulled me close to him and hugged me.
“I’m sorry, I should have gently carried you.” He whispered and kissed the top of my head. I inhaled his manly scent and closed my eyes. I was so lost in the moment that I didn’t notice that I had already hugged him back. I snapped out of my reverie and gently pushed him away. My face was red as a tomato when he held my hands and suddenly kissed them. I was about to pull it away from him, but he held it firmly.
“I’ll do everything to make you accept me, Candice,” he sincerely said.
Blake
God! She looked so freaking beautiful when she blushed. “Damn right, she is!” Augustus, my wolf proudly said. All I said was true. I’ll do everything to make her accept me as her mate. She’s the woman that the Moon Goddess gave us, and she’s the Luna of my pack.
“Travis, I’ll go back straight to the car. Tell Alpha Enrico and Luna Beth that I can’t go there because I’ve already found Candice. She might try to escape again.” I said it through the mind link. I just imagined how terrified and shocked her mother was when she learned that her daughter was missing. She almost gave her mother a heart attack. I’m glad I quickly caught her, because if not, I would go crazy. What a stubborn she-wolf!
“Yes Alpha.” Travis answered back. I glanced at her and smiled when she glared at me. We walked to where my car is located while I held her hands; she might think of running again, and I couldn’t afford it. When we arrived at the car, I opened the door and let her in.
"Travis, are you done?” I asked through the mind link. "Yes, Alpha, I’ll be there in a minute.” He answered. We were both silent in the car when Travis got back. He looked at me and chuckled. I glared at him because I knew that once we’re back on the pack, he would tease me again about my mate who tried to run away from me. Travis is my beta and best friend.
“Let’s go!” I ordered, and he gladly obliged.
Candice
The sky had grown darker; I could see the clouds turning ominous and black, threatening to rain. The wind made queer sobbing sounds as it swept over, making the trees in the forest dance to its tune. A sudden bolt of lightning tore across the sky, and a peal of thunder followed, which made me jolt, even the weather was not on my side. I was so pissed that my plan A didn’t work. Blake sure is a goddamn runner; did he catch up to me very quickly, or was it just me who is slow? “Just stop it; you can’t outrun him. Our mate will get mad at us if you keep doing that.” My wolf, Claire, said, “That’s good, then.” I said that and evilly smiled. When the car had already left our town, I quickly opened the door, and I’m glad it wasn’t locked.
“What the fvck do you think you’re doing?” Blake spoke angrily, and I could see fear in his eyes. “I’m going to jump?” I hesitated, unsure if I was really going to do it or not. I know I’m not going to die if I jump in a running car because of my werewolf blood, but I would probably sustain injuries. The car abruptly stopped, making me fall on his lap. He quickly closed the door, snaked his arms around my waist, and buried his head in my neck.
“Please don’t do that. Please don’t do dangerous things that might hurt you.” He said. He’s worried about me. I sighed. Fine, I’m going to behave myself. No more escaping, for now. In response, I nodded my head. Well, that stunt was kind of embarrassing. I awkwardly smiled at Travis, who looked bewildered at the scene. He just scratched the back of his head, smiled back at me, and started the car again.
“Where are we going?” I asked Blake, who’s still hugging me. I pushed him back and leaned on the window. “We are going to our pack in Wintervale, New Cresthill.” He proudly said: “I’m sure you’re going to like it there.” He added. We fell into silence once again. Honestly, I have no desire to speak at this moment, and I am certain he is well aware of this. The car suddenly stopped.
“Why did you stop?” Blake asked.
“Rogues!” He spoke, and I gulped as the chills ran down my spine. Fear slowly crept into my mind. I am scared. Blake cupped my face and wiped the cold sweat from my forehead. “Listen to me, Candice. Stay here inside the car, you got that? Don’t fvcking go out. I don’t know what I will do if those things hurt you. So please, listen to me. Stay here.” I just nodded my head in response.
