Chapter Twelve

1535 Words
**Dom's POV** I'm not sure how, but I managed to not kill Scott. I was able to regain control of myself after he was just barely breathing. He's lucky I am more worried about her. I return to her side to see she is still in the same state I had left her. I kneel down and scoop her up as gently as possible. Her small figure, weighing no more than a hunred and fifty pounds, looks like a child in my massive arms. As her heads rolls back her blue eyes crack open, but you can tell she is not in her right mind. My stomach turns to knots when she spoke. Even though it was barely a whisper, my canine ears hear her very clearly. "Alpha..." She breathes out. It was barely audiable. My anger raising at how intoxicated she was. How many had she drank. Knowing Scott, as many as he had mixed for her. He probably drugged every single one of them. He wanted to make sure she couldn't even talk, let alone scream for help. * Damn.* I let out. *We ought to kill him.* Knight growls. Until now he had been too furious to put any emotions in words. *No,* I tell him, shaking my head. *He deserves worse.* Leaving him coughing up blood, I go to the passenger side of my black Camero. I open the door and ease her onto the leather seat. I buckle her in and make sure she is completely in before shutting the door. I walk around the back of my Camero, taking one last look at Scott before getting in my car. Shutting my door, I looked over at her. Her body limp in my passenger seat. Her hair clinging to her, no doubt the drugs and alcohol are the contributors to that. She was pale. Paler than she was earlier this evening, when she noticed I was standing in the tree line. I'm kicking myself for not doing something sooner. I should've stopped Scott when he handed her that first drink. But I couldn't. I couldn't reveal myself to her. As soon as I had walked out the doors of the pack house, I knew. She was mine. And she had no idea we were mates. And I need it to stay that way, at least for now. * I'm sure it won't be long before for word gets out though, Scott likes to run his mouth. * *I'm sure you're right Koal.* I tel him. *But he won't get the chance.* *So why did you say to not kill him?* Knight asks. *Because I have something else planned for him.* I tell them. *Oh.* They say in unison. Pulling away from the pack house, I made sure to not run Scott over with my car. That doesn't mean I didn't think about it. After what he's done, he deserved it. The silence in the car was deadly. I had clinched my hand on the steering wheel until my knuckles were white. The drive to her house wasn't very far. She lived a short distance from the packhouse but no quite in town. Her Driveway was a small dirt road that went back into the woods. Her yard, surrounded by trees, opened up to a small clearing where her house was centered. It was a small brick house with a covered front porch. It must've been no bigger than a small double wide trailer. It was cute. There was different types of herbs and plants hanging from the ceiling of the porch and she had planters hanging over the rail of the porch. Her front light was on, lighting up the steps and walk way. She had a porch swing to one side with an end table sitting to the side. I got out the car and walked around the passenger side of the car. Through the window, I could see her shallow breathing. *Naive girl.* I think to myself. *What was she thinking? She probably got tired of Scott's advances.* Koal said. *And she figured, 'what the hell?'* Gritting my teeth at the thought of what Scott had done to her, I shake my head. *I don't believe this shit.* I say, more hoping I'm dreaming. I pick her up, out of the front seat of my car and make my way, with her in my arms, to the porch. I come to the front door hoping it is unlocked. Unfortunately for me, it isn't. I look around trying to figure out what to do. I place her gentley on the swing, careful so she doesn't fall off. I turn back to the door running my fingers through my hair. *Where would you hide the spare key?* I ask the guys. *In her favorite plant?* Knight replies. *Maybe under the door mat?* Koal asks. Both are good answers. But only one is simple. *Let's try the door mat.* I tell them hoping Koals option was spot on. I kneel down in front of the door and pull back the mat. Nothing. *Damn* I say frustrated. *It was worth a shot.* I look around her porch trying to figure out what her favorite plant could be. She had so many surrounding her porch it was unreal. I started narrowing down my options. Maybe she didn't have multiples of this plant, so I started searching all the plants she only had one of. She's a girl so of course her favorite plant must be a flower. There was only one flower she had one of. It's was a very full and vibrant fuscia hanging from the ceiling. I check under the viney leaves for a key. *Bingo!* Knight says pleased with himself. As my finger brush a tiny metal key pushed into the soil. *Yeah, yeah...* Koal mumbles, obviously bitter. I unlock the front door and put her key back where I found it. I pick her up and carry her into the house. Inside her home, the smell of her was everywhere. Tart strawberries and sweet whipped cream. It was intoxicatingly sweet. I made my mouth water and I could feel tingling on my arm were her cheek was resting, definitely my mate. But you could tell she wasn't living here alone. The smell very close to hers but different. Not only that, she had pictures everywhere and decorations, with words like family and home. There was a picture of her and a cute little boy that resembled her. On the picture frame the words "happy mothers day" ina trendy cursive writing. I look at her and study her sleeping face. *She's a mom.* I tell them. My stomach turning. *Damn, that's missed up.* Koal says. *Yeah it is.* I agree with him. I can see her open kitchen and dining room table. Through the kitchen was a hallway leading to the back of the house. Going on my gut, I take guess that thats were her room would be. Down the hallway I pass a bathroom on my left and at the end of the hallway were two bedrooms. One the right was a room set up for a small child, no doubt her son's room. It had a toddler bed in the corner and dressers on either sides of the room. On one dresser there were a bit of childrens stories books and the other had a few stuffed animals on the top. There was a toolbox under ther windowsill, more than likely loaded down with toys. On the left was her room. I smelled like her more than anyroom in the house. Her cast iron queen size bed, had been painted an off white. It was in the center of the room, with windows covered with gray and white curtains on either side. The side closest to the door was obviously the side she slept on the other side of the bedseemed untouched. Her sheets were a shade of baby blue and made from cotton. Her comforter as the same shade of gray as her curtains to tie the room together. I step Into her room careful to watch my footing in the dark. I ease her down onto the bed and gentley rest her head on one of the many pillows she had. I slip her sandals off and place them next to the foot of the bed. I take one more long look at her. Her curly hair thick with sweat splayed out around her. She was so pale in the moonlight streaming through her curtains. I could see her shaking in the dimly lit room. I take her comforter and pull it over her shivering body. I walk out the room and down the hallway as i go to leave. I notice she had a calculator on the table. I was surrounded by tons upto tons of receipts. She was clearly struggling to keep her finances up. *I have a plan.* I tell them.*But first..* I take a blank peice of paper and leave her a note. I take and set it on her bedside table, so I know she'll find it. I take and lock up before leaving her home, hoping for the best.
