Chapter Fifteen

Standing before him, his demeanor is frightening. I'm not quite sure what I had done to deserve this visit but it must've been bad. He was very quiet so that just made it worse. *Zzzzzzzzzzz* There it is again. That eerie buzzing creeping up the back of my neck and in my ears like a dog whistle. A high pitch ringing noise that can't be natural. *What the hell is that noise?* Pearl asks, very obviously annoyed. *I have no idea.* I tell her. *But it's very annoying.* *Tell me something I don't know.* She says very sarcastically. This whole time, I've unknowingly been staring at his boots. The silnce between us was killing me. I slowly work up the courage to look at him. My eyes make their way up his body, stopping on his eyes. He was looking me directly in the eye. He didn't look mad, he looked curious. It was cute and took me by surprise. I avert my eyes, blush rising in my cheeks. "I'm sorry," I say quickly. "Alpha, I didn't mean to-" "Relax." He cuts me off. "This isn't a business call." "It's not?" I ask, looking at him. "No ma'am," He says. "It is not." "Okay," I say, breathng a little easier now. "For a second I thought I was in trouble." "You? Trouble?" He smirks. "What could you possibly be in trouble for?" He stands up and I remember exactly who he is. He stood atleast a foot and a half taller than me. His broad muscular shoulders showing off his body mass. Honestly he was very intimidating. *Oh. My. God.* Pearl starts drooling. *Shut up. Shut up. Shut up.* I tell her. Without another word, he crosses the porch in two quick strides. Stopping directly in front of me. Like I said very intimidating. "Well?" He asks looking down at me. At a loss for words, I shake my head. "I'm sorry," He says in that voice laced with honey. "I didn't quiet hear you. Could you speak up?" Still at a loss for words, I have no idea how to answer that question. I can't even meet his gaze, I'm not sure what answer he wants. Apparently my indecisveness, is not what he wants. The next thing I know, I'm cornered between the brick paneling of the house and a massive wall of chest, with either giant arm on both sides of me. My heart feels like it's going to beat right out of my chest. My legs start feeling weak around my knees. It's more than just his alpha dominance, him being extremely hot does not help my case. "Well?" He asks, his voice extremely thick. *Oooooo* Pearl lets out a swooning sigh. *It's just not fair* *What isn't fair?* I ask her. *Him.* She says. *Knowing good and well what he's doing.* I roll my eyes at her comment. "What. Would. You. Be. In. Trouble. For?" He asked making his voice very clear. "N-n-nothing, Alpha." I say swollowing my fear. He backs away smiling. *Wtf?* I ask Pearl. *What just happened?* *I have no idea.* She replies. I have clearly missed the joke here. I am so lost. Why did he go from laid back to serious to joking? Thinking about it makes my head spin. He steps back and leans on the post behind him. He then proceeds to cross his arms and continuing to watch me. And immediately we are back to silence. I can't stand the silence anymore. Like the ringing in my ears, it's unnerving. "Mhmm." I clear my throat. Hoping he catches on. "Oh, right." He says, searching his pockets. I watch him pat down his pockets. The front and then the back. He looks at his jacket. The zipper pocket down the front caught his attention. He unzips the pocket and reaches inside. I watch in shock when he pulls my phone out of his pocket. How did he have my phone? "How did you get that?" I ask without even thinking. "I beleive a 'thank you' would suffice." He says with dominance in his voice. He sounded agitated. "I'm sorry Alpha." I say. "Yes. Thank you. But how come you have it, or really why are you returning it in peron?" His lips curls into a crooked grin. He looks at the phone then back to me. Then he surprisingly, he puts my phone in his back pocket. "Well, I found it last night at the celebration." He says. "Once everyone had left I found it ringing in the gravel." "Oh. I'm sorry." I tell him. "Honestly, I don't remember much from last night. I can't even remember how I got home, let alone lose my phone at the packhouse. I feel very ashamed to even admit that." *Why did you tell him that?* Pearl asks. *Now he is going to think we're raging alcoholics!* *I'm sorry* I tell her. *It just slipped out.* "Thank you." He says looking at me. "I understand. That's another reason I wanted to return it in person." "What's that?" I ask. "Well to start with," He says. "I wanted to make sure it was returned to it's rightful owner. And two-" The sound of tires crunching on gravel cut him off. We both look and watch as we see Scott's blue truck pulling into my yard. "Speak of the devil bastard." Alpha mumbles under his breath. I have no earthly idea why he said that. I thought Scott was his chosen beta. Aren't they supposed to be better than best friends? That comment really threw me threw the loop. What the hell is that about? From the look on Scotts face I could tell he was mad. What the hell happened last night? Sott threw his truck in park and flung his door wide open. He hops out of the truck and slams the door behind him.
