Iko’s POV
He… he is staring at me.
I shook in anticipation as he slowly sat in his place. He made sure our eyes remained locked and for some reason, my heart was thudding so loudly. It was baffling.
I was quick to glance away. He is dangerous… definitely! There was no doubt there but why was he looking at me? He is the bad boy my friends warned me about earlier so, wasn’t he suppose to ignore my existence? It was odd. Mendo wouldn’t look into my eyes; he hated my mere presence.
Even if this boy hated me too he was paying attention to me. I don’t know what to do? Should I be worried?
Yes, you should for offending him.
I gulped realizing maybe he was planning ways to abuse me. Oh dear lord, why did I come his way? I am so stupid!
My eyes were staring into my book so hard that they went smudged into darkness.
Don’t look… Don’t look…
It was becoming hard when I heard the chair beside me scratch against the floor. Instantly, there was a presence to my side. I stole a glance and whined inwardly.
Oh my god, he’s right next to me…
As if it wasn’t a big deal for him, he nudged to my side and whispered in my ear.
“What are you so afraid of?” He asked and I forgot how to breathe.
My ECG if done at this moment will seem crazy. My heart was beating erratically. I was lost at words. His closeness, his alpha scent wasn’t helping either. Right then, the door opened and the next teacher walked in.
Everybody stood to greet him. So, I took the opportunity to move away from him and planned to move my chair while sitting. However, it failed when he gripped my hand and slammed me back in my chair.
I gasped in fear. Everyone turned but stayed quiet. I could see my friends giving me concerned looks and I prayed for the mentor to call him out. Or me, for not standing in respect. To my dismay, his eyes widened and narrowed briefly before gesturing everyone to sit.
I was stunned!
“I wasn’t done talking. What made you ignore me?” This time he sounded harsh and I shrunk in my chair.
“I-I apologize for earlier. It won’t happen again.” I muttered and immediately he gripped my chin and made me look up.
“How dare you insult me like that? Don’t dare look down when I am talking.” He warned and my lips wobbled.
What the hell should I do? In my previous place, they didn’t want me to look into their eyes when talking. Here, it was different! I was… scared from his anger.
He c****d his head to one side and clicked his tongue, turning away.
“Loser…” He mumbled; ruining my mood.
Okay, I was loser. So what? You people made me look like that! Even if I was a scholar in my studies your ridiculous ways has kept me down—
I was sulking not realizing that I actually said it out loud. That was until he slammed his fist on my book; crumbling the opened pages.
I suffered a mini-heart attack and covered my mouth instinctively. Slowly, I glanced his way and saw him giving me hard glares. Yet, he was thinking. Not sure what but he was looking past me as if I was transparent. This helped me relax a bit.
Regardless of the tension around me, I took his features in.
His brown hairs tossed with the slightest air hitting them, his forehead was wide but perfect for those thick eyebrows and almond shaped eyes. His eye color was turquoise and attractive. I bit my lip as I studied his perfect sharp nose that wasn’t long nor small, either. His lips were full and appeared to be soft while he had a protruding chin. His jaw-line was sharp and weirdly mature. There was no doubt he was muscular because his shirt was too tight on his biceps and chest.
As I stared at him pondering how good he looked; worthy of being an alpha, I noticed his eyes staring at me. This time he was clearly looking at me. I blushed seeing his face soften even if that was for a fraction and turned away.
This time, to my relief, he glanced away too. Despite that he didn’t move. I was too conscious of his presence; unable to study with him by my side. Several students noticed us and I sighed that it wasn’t just me. They were unable to focus too which was a good thing.
Time dragged on and I was getting anxious. He kept looking at me now and then. Under his skeptical gaze, I was finding it hard to breathe. I don’t think I can survive forty minutes of this. My legs fidgeted as I gripped tightly on my pants, I can’t take it anymore. As if sensing it, the boy huffed in annoyance and grabbed my hands; freezing me on the spot.
He slammed them on the desk and groaned.
“Focus!” he said and I nodded vehemently.
Immediately, I picked up my pen with extreme force and acted to write.
But what? I don’t even know what’s going on? For god’s sake, an alpha is sitting right next to me! How can you expect me to focus while I fear for my life… and dignity?
Maybe it was everybody’s discomfort that the teacher sensed. He dismissed the class early and asked us to research about the topic in the time being. The teacher stepped out of the class throwing a look in our way. Soon students swarmed outside and I fumbled with my things. Grabbing my bag, I was ready to leave but was stopped by him.
“You’ll need to pay for what you did earlier. Don’t forget that.” He threatened and I nodded; feeling upset about it.
When he moved away, I dashed outside ignoring my friends on the way. To be honest, I was terrified. First Mendo and now him… what was his name again?
I don’t care. He was strange!
Unlike those Alphas he was out of my understanding. He sat beside me… he looked in my eyes and in his uncanny way, he cared that I study.
Still… he was dangerous!
If my friends were right, he should be avoided or he will make my life a living hell. I kept running god knows where but halted when I saw a crowd chattering in front of me.
It was cafeteria with aromas of coffee, pasta and what not. I was suddenly hungry but to be around so many people was slightly disturbing. Only now I regretted for not waiting for my new friends. They were the first ones to be honest. I never had any before. So, feeling small among the crowd, I lazily walked to the nearest bench and sat. For some reason, I felt ashamed.
There was no point. It wasn’t like I was poor that couldn’t afford a thing yet there was this unsettling feeling.
I think I should go back…
Sighing, I was about to go when someone stopped me.
“Hey, Airashi-kun, where are you going?” I frowned and stared at the person who called my name.
To my surprise it was that alpha girl with that boy. She was beautiful and sweet. I smiled at her awkwardly while she looked amused. Gesturing me to sit, she called out for two coffees and sandwiches to no one in particular.
I sat across from her, too timid to feel comfortable. She suddenly laughed and I was surprised. Suddenly, I felt a little upset as I noticed how pretty she was.
Her voice, her laughter, her face; plus, she is an Alpha herself. I didn’t like it. There was no reason still…
“You are so cute.” She said casually but I was stunned!
Cute?
“I-I am?” I asked dumbly and she laughed all the more. Patting her cheeks as if they hurt her, she nodded.
“You are so cute and innocent. Oh my god, where are you from?” She asked crossing her arms and leaning forward; gesture that she was interested in me.
This made me blush crazily. She was so easy going and confident. Maybe that was the reason she was close to that jerk boy.
I sat staring at my hands folded on my lap. She has golden hair, shoulder length. Her eyes were emerald colored like my mom and her face was oval; as my mom. Her lips were thin yet alluringly pink. She had eye-liner on her eyelids that caught attention to her eyes. She has a Dutch nose and linear eyebrows.
Ah! No wonder she gets along with the bad boy.
I guess they are dating.
“Hey! Airashi-Kun back to earth!” She touched my arm and I jumped in my place.
Her eyebrows knitted in concern as she gestured to the order that was now set on the table.
“You seem to be upset. Did Hansuma-Kun do something when I wasn’t there?” She asked and I frowned.
Hansuma-kun?
And how did she know that I was upset? Even I didn’t know it.
“You are releasing your scent!” She pointed and I bit my cheek inwardly.
Of course! How stupid.
“And Hansuma-kun is the one you angered in the morning.” She pointed out and I turned red in embarrassment.
“Oh, it was an accident.” I defended and she waved her hand in dismiss.
“I know. Please eat before it gets cold.” She asked and I gladly accepted.
“Kori Hansuma is known as the bad boy.” She said trying to gawk my reaction but I refuse to show my curiosity.
I think she was about to say “But he isn’t…” and felt something bubble inside my stomach.
“Because he is!” She completed and I spurted my coffee accidently.
Good for us that I was quick to cover my mouth with a tissue yet it was too much for a day. I don’t think I was so embarrassed before; from my own actions.
“Hey, easy omega.” She patted my back and I hardly was able to breathe.
Oh, no, no… An alpha that too, a girl was touching me!
I am sure my face turned beat red while she passed me more tissues and started moving my food out of the way from the mess.
“Your shirt needs a bit… washing.” She suggested and I was quick to run away.
“Hey! Wait! You don’t even know where the washroom is.” She shouted but I hardly listened to her.
I needed to escape her.
As soon as I rushed, I was stopped by few students who turned out to be my friends. Relief washed over me and I smiled at their worried faces.
“Uh, can anyone guide me to where the washroom is?” I asked and they nodded.
“Sure! Let me walk you there.” Stephen-Kun offered and I declined.
“No, please. You guys go ahead and order. I will be real quick.” I suggested so they directed me to the nearest washroom.
Once I reached there, I sighed at the eventful day. There were still few classes left, how will I go with the coffee stain visible in the front? I tried to wash it off but the water seeped through the fabric and spread all around. I shivered slightly from the cold water that now stuck on my chest and abdomen. Grabbing few tissues, I tried to dry it off but it wasn’t doing a great job.
So, I whined tiredly.
“What!!!” I rubbed my face; giving up.
I think I would have to skip classes. This was disheartening.
Right then one of the stall opened and I stood straight. My eyes widened when the Alpha bad boy, I mean, Kori came into my view. He threw me a glance before coming next to me and washed his hands.
We stayed quiet and I wondered if he will get his revenge on me now. Since we were alone, it would be the best time, right? Unaware, I was shivering badly from the coldness of my shirt. He huffed taking me aback.
“Get changed or do you want to die of cold?” His sudden anger shocked me.
“I-I don’t have… spare shirt.” I informed and he scoffed.
“i***t, Omega! Why do they even exist?” He cursed and I felt tears brimming in my eyes.
He dialed a number and mumbled something. We stayed there avoiding each other for an eternity and I prayed him to leave. I would have left but I have not worn anything inside my shirt. With the water, it became see-through and I was in no mood to show my naked chest around.
Somehow, I felt he was looking at me and I unconsciously wrapped my arms around myself. Out of blue the door of the washroom opened and I watched another young boy enter. I was shocked. His appearance was similar to Kori’s. He looked confused and gave us an overall.
His eyes widened on me and I tightened my arms around protectively.
Kori looked annoyed. He snatched the paper bag from the boy and threw it in my hands; forcefully.
“Get changed and be back. Do not f*****g dare to return it back. I hate used things.” He grumbled and started to leave.
“Hey, I know you.” The other boy started but Kori grabbed his sleeves and hauled him outside.
“Don’t talk to inferiors.” Was the last thing I heard from Kori as they slammed the door behind them.
I stared at the packet and decided to get out of the cold shirt. As I pulled it out, a strong urge to sniff took over. I did and was shell-shocked!
Peppermint!
I… I think I know this scent…
