Chapter 2 Daniel and His Mate

Mom was quick in shielding me behind her, afraid of his harsh reaction over me. Her fear was not wrong as he has always treated me like a slave, according him the omega’s of pack are more worthy then me and I am just the shame and burden for him.

‘Don’t come in between Alice’ he warned mom but she shook her head.

‘Please John, first listen to her, she has her own reasons for calling off the engagement and I support her’ dad, clenched his jaw and pulled her towards him ushering her to sit on the couch.

‘Dad, be careful mom is still ill’ I couldn’t stop shouting at how he treated the mom.

‘You, ungrateful bastard’ instead of listening to me, he slapped me on the face.

‘John, listen to her first’ she pleaded but he was not listening and it was not first time, when I was teenager, it happened many times that Jenna and her friend’s bully’s me and then come home complains to dad that I am making their life difficult and causing problems for them and it always ends up in getting beating from him.

‘I raised you who is no body, you don’t even have a wolf. My hard earned money is spent on you how you think you can repay to me huh?’ holing my hair from the back of my head he pulled them, a yelp escape from my mouth. Mom tried to stand and stop him but Jenna was there to hold her and enjoy the scene of my insult.

‘Luna, please don’t offend Alpha it will only make it difficult for her. She has done wrong she should bear the punishment and it will subside Alpha’s anger’ I heard her saying this to mom and her eyes watered in how helpless she becomes sometimes; I never has any complaint from her as she was also going through a lot because of dad but she has protected to me with everything she had in her hand.

‘If you think by doing this you can force me to marry Daniel than forget it. I will not accept this relation anymore’

Stating what he had done to me and how I have found him on bed intimate with another woman in his house, making fun of me and hurting my self-respect in front of a strange woman. I was left with only one option and that was to reject him. Yes, Daniel was my fated mate but he thought that I was weak because I don’t have a wolf and my own parents had abundant me it makes me the worst choice for him. Whereas none of them knows that my wolf does not won’t them to know about her presence.

‘That’s how you will repay us?’ he was glaring at me with all his power and rage, I won’t lie that I am not afraid of him, instead I am very scared of this man as he has the power to make every decision of this pack and its members.

‘You can’t use this way to force me to marry him’ I rejected once again clearly notifying my no to him.

‘Is that so? Since you don’t want to take the responsibility of how much money I have spent on raising you than I think I should cut off the medical expenses of your mother as she was the one who wanted to take you in and make you her adopted daughter’ by the end his face was turned in disgust, they all think I am someone who was abundant by someone and hence I had so many issues with me. Life was never easy for me but when it comes about my biological parents I hurts differently and very deeply.

‘How can you do that? She is your wife’ I yelled at her, he can’t use my mother for his benefits, I had just graduated and not had enough savings and knowing very well how expensive her treatment is I cannot afford. He definitely knows how to push me.

While I was taking my time in thinking, he became impatient as the only thing he wants to hear from me was yes which I was not saying and it was just raising his rage.

‘Answer me you brat’ he raised his hand to slap me once again and I winced waiting for his hand touching to my cheeks and leaving another mark on my skin, when suddenly Beta came in to the lounge running in hurry.

‘Alpha, please stop’ he quickly grabs my father’s hand and directing his attention to some other matter which according to him was more important than dealing with me.

‘What happened?’ annoyed dad asked from him.

‘Alpha Daniel of Pinewood pack had arrived at our pack with his Luna’ dad’s face darkened at the news and he turned to glare at me as if blaming me for him finding his mate. A quick smirk made its way on my lips.

That stupid Daniel does not even know that I was his fated mate just because he couldn’t sense the scent of my wolf, when I find this out in the university right away when our eyes met. Well, it has been ended now, and I had rejected him so maybe he got the second chance immediately and recognized the woman as his mate.

‘Let him in’ warning me with his raised index finger he shifted back his gaze to the wooden door of the pack house. Mom was swiftly beside me running her fingers in my hair, relaxing out my roots and hugged me tightly.

Dad’s face was gloomy at the news, but he was welcoming them out of the formality and business terms they have with neighboring packs and it is a basic rule in our werewolves to welcome warmly the Alpha and Luna of other packs when they visit you.

My gaze was fixed at dad’s face as I did not want to see Daniel’s face, he will only disgust me after what I had saw last night. For my surprise, his grumpy face suddenly lit with happiness and it was reaching to his eyes, me and mom exchanged glances with each other, curious to why all of sudden he was happy to see Daniel and his Luna.

‘Welcome Alpha Daniel’ shaking hands with him he started to have a quick conversation with her, did he know her?

‘Zoe, why are you standing there like a dumb? Can’t you see we have a guests, make yourself useful for once and start preparing refreshment for them.’ I rolled my eyes, I can see that breaking of mate bond has affected Daniel as he was unable to stand properly, upon asking of dad excusing it as the injury while training.

‘Jerk’ I muttered quietly.

‘Zoe?’ dad shouted at me when I did not respond to him. Mom pushed me towards kitchen motioning to do as he is asking and not to give him chance to make fuss in front of guest and specially Daniel.

Sighing I opened the fridge and took out the basket of fruits, juices, and asked the omega to prepare the dish of breakfast for them.

While I was on cutting the fruits finely and dozed off in thinking about my next course of action, because I am very well aware of my father that he will not let me leave in here peacefully, so I might have to make the decision of moving, but this time I will take mom with me and will not let her to suffer his cruelness alone.

‘So you were the one who was dreaming about becoming the Luna of Pinewood pack?’ A sudden voice near me brought me out of my thoughts and I turned to look at the source only to find Daniel’s newly found Luna. Saying anything to her was the waste of time and I was not interested to talk to her hence remaining silent I continued chopping the fruits when she holds my arm roughly and with gritted teeth start speaking.

‘Zoe, you should remember your place, you are the slave a born slave and you should not forget your place. Forget about Daniel, he will never think about you, instead he hates you and mentioning your name just brings disdain on his face’ I was beyond shock at her outburst.

We both don’t know each other, we never met nor we have any competition between us, so from where her aggression was coming.

‘Do we know each other?’ ignoring what she has said, I demanded the answer from her. Madison, the future Luna of Pinewood pack was a cunning woman and she got John and Daniel coming towards the kitchen finding her with her peripheral vision hence she jerked her hand from her grasp and fall down on the floor, yelping, calling for the help.

I stood at my place like a stupid person, because what happened was difficult for me to process as I was unable to understand the motives of that woman. John and Daniel were inside the kitchen in a seconds after hearing her cry.

‘Madison, how did that happen?’ Madison’s hand was rested on her belly.

'Daniel our baby’ she cried hiding his face on his chest, shouting occasionally in pain. John lost it and grabs my throat.

‘You are showing off your true colors’ people started to gather in and outside the kitchen, it was always the lovely sight for them to see me being punished by their Alpha.

‘Dad, I did not do anything’ I tried to justify, the situation was getting tensed and I was getting a wrong blame.

‘She fall by herself’

‘Shut up’ a sharp slap hit on my face, my jaw vibrated under the pressure he had used to slap me. I even tasted the blood in my mouth.

‘How dare you to accuse her. You think you can hide your evil actions by putting the blame on others?’ another slap hit my cheeks, it stings and my eyes burned with how much I was controlling myself for not crying in front of all of them.

‘Say sorry to her’ Dad demanded.

‘I won’t. I had done nothing’ I refused to take the blame on me.

‘Fine!’ surprisingly, he did not force me but next moment I got it why.

‘Beta’ he called for his most trust worthy person.

‘Yes Alpha’ he came forward.

‘Throw her in dungeon and make sure she is punished severely’ my eyes widened in horror.

‘Dad, how can you trust a stranger over your daughter.’ He pushed me towards Beta and motioned for him to take me away. I can see everyone has humor in their eyes they all were finding it funny. I cried for the help but it was useless as what happening with me right now was their long seeing dream that finally become true.
